WHY I AM DOING EC WHEN IT IS MORE WORK. ELIMINATION COMMUNICATION
We are doing EC after everything we’ve learned with our third baby.
Elimination communication can be somewhat of a pain to deal with, we are still gong to do it with our newborn because we can’t not do it.
1. cloth diaper
2. part of the diaper change routine
3. can’t ignore the signals or cues
4. older siblings influencing
5. expect baby to pee in the potty

HOW I GET MY BABY TO POOP OUT OF THE DIAPER. ELIMINATION COMMUNICATION
Переглядів 2 тис.2 місяці тому
I started introducing the potty to our babies after just a few weeks old so we can deal with less poopy diapers using (EC) Elimination Communication. Babies naturally don’t want to soil themselves but we train them to pee poop in a diaper. Babies communicate to us when they are tired, hungry, and uncomfortable including when they need to use the toilet. Shop for my Positive Affirmations Pregnan...

    I didn't know about EC but it was so obvious when my first daughter was about to poop that I thought it was ridiculous to watch her go in her diaper so I put her on the potty. I was a stay at home mom so most of the time I caught her in time but not always. She was fully daytime trained by her second birthday. It was the same with her younger sisters.

    Hi, Thank you for posting these resources for us to learn from you. Super invaluable and eternally grateful. Also congrats on your baby. Hope all is well with you and your family. _________________ (more below) I absolutely LOVE those bookshelves .. can you tell me where you got those from please? Also, I was hoping you could help me with this slight dilemma: I live in a 2b apartment, so space is limited. My toddler currently sleeps with us in our room while the 2nd bedroom space is actually my work room since I'm the stay at home parent/work from home. Do you have any recommendations on what I should prioritize in terms of spaces. Since my toddler is only 12mo old, and not in daycare, I was going to prioritize the practical skills areas in the livingroom/kitchen spaces. What do you think?

      Thank you so much for the kind words. I find whatever I can second hand before buying new. I have the 6 compartment bookshelf from Ikea. This one looks like a good option that’s budget friendly. a.co/d/i7Mz8b9 We also co-sleep or bed share. With the limited space I would focus on making this accessible to foster independence for your child. Examples: - stool for the bathroom, soap dispenser at close reach… step stool or floor potty. - give your child freedom to choose her own clothes and keep them low to reach - kitchen, dedicate one drawer close to the floor for kids plate, bowls, cups… Hope that helps

    Hi, Love these tips. For the tip #4, where you mentioned trays vs bins. Can I ask for an explanation, I'm trying to understand this better. Also, where can I find trays ??

    • @Annisa_Kacang
      @Annisa_Kacang 2 місяці тому

      I got mine off Amazon but any container will do. I’ve changed my toy system now that I have 3 kids and would prioritize toys that are open ended like STEM focus. I have a small bin for each type and makes clean up easier. Ex: a bin for play dough, blocks, magnetiles, legos, cars… then it’s easy during clean up and storage. The idea is that the toy has a designate home so the child selects a tray, does work/play and then places it back in. The bookshelf I’m using is from IKEA and I found it used. If I could redo it, I would look for a bookshelf with 2 levels long and no partitions. I would skip trays and use small clear bins for anything that’s a bunch of loose pieces.

    So, here's the thing. My son (3m/o) goes in the shower, usually urinates, rarely poops, every time we change diapers. But! He mostly poops WHILE eating, not after, so I don't know how to train him

    • @Annisa_Kacang
      @Annisa_Kacang 2 місяці тому

      That’s great on the pees. He is 3 months old so give him some grace. Do you associate a sound with it? Like Psss as a cue It’s common for babies to poop during meal times as he’s more relaxed. My third one is for sure. I would try offering before OR still offer after meals so baby can learn the rhythm. If he poops during feeding then change diaper and offer before putting a new one.

    @Tania_78 4 місяці тому

    Baby sleeping in the same bed as parent(s) is extremely unsafe, irresponsible, & careless, & advised against by experts. That's not to say an infant should sleep in a separate room as parents. The American Academy of Pediatrics actually recommends that infants sleep in the same room as parents for @ least a year, but @ a minimum for the 1st 6 months. But sleeping in the same bed is extremely dangerous & is associated w/ higher risk of SIDS. You are putting your baby's life @ risk if you choose to sleep in the same bed as them, so no, parents should not do whatever works for them. What works for them may very well be what CAUSES their baby to die. I urge you to PLEASE research & familiarize yourself w/ safe sleep practices. If you do not engage in safe sleep practices, you may very well learn of their importance the hard way (by your infant passing away). Is it really worth it? Consider having a bassinet or crib (even a smaller one) in your room that baby sleeps in.

    • @Annisa_Kacang
      @Annisa_Kacang 4 місяці тому

      I tried a crib with baby 1 and that worked for 2 months? Tried sleep training for baby 1 also. Ended up cosleeping. I did the research on co sleeping safely and had a video on research based risks. (That video did poorly in terms of audience). Baby 2 did a bassinet but ended up co-sleeping bc he had a hard time regulating his temperature in the house we were living in and he was a winter baby. His toes were soo cold with a double swaddle and blanket. Baby 3 I might as well skip all that. My co sleeping is also in a king size bed so there’s plenty of space for baby and I to sleep without even touching each other. Lastly, I hear a lot of parents tell me under their breath they co-sleep. It’s just not talked about openly because it can come with so much criticism so parents just keep quiet.

    • @Tania_78
      @Tania_78 4 місяці тому

      @@Annisa_Kacang Co-sleeping w/ an infant in any size bed is dangerous, even if you are not touching. Yes, it is probably safer, & more comfortable for both, to be in a king size vs. a twin, for example, but still unsafe & still increases risk of SIDS. I don't think parents should risk their infant's life for them or their baby to get more sleep, or to avoid having to get up & go to their infant's room in the middle of the night. The benefits do not outweigh the cost. You mentioned that one of your children was still cold w/ a double swaddle & blanket. Children under 1 year of age should not have anything in the crib w/ them besides a fitted sheet that is snuggly fitted to a firm mattress. A swaddle is fine, but a blanket is not. Also, just because your 2nd child had trouble regulating their temp in the home you lived in doesn't mean this child will have trouble regulating their temp in the home you are currently in. Better a too cold infant than a dead infant. 🤷‍♀️ Co-sleeping comes w/ criticism, because it is more dangerous than baby sleeping in their own bed. The criticism is warranted.
