    You need spare workers to build during day too. If not, they have to build during meal and rest time. Which is bad. You cant keep pulling night workers from hunter huts to work during day , they need rest. You "hunt for efficiency, " is killing your work force slowly but surely. You treat them like machines. They need sufficient rest and food to work efficiently. Houthouses you can have 3 of those (5 workers, right?) For one hunter hut. Rotate extra shift on one each day, giving enough rest to others to recover and not discontent. Never start new workers on a double shift either. I can see the effects in pop ups and when you check efficiency of jobs. 30% of workforce in hospitals each day means your plans are wrong or need reassessed and reprioritized.

    You need to keep housing and work above just workable. So steam hub and bunkhouses needed. You need food coming in during day too. 2 to 3 hothouses plus night hunters. Barely enough wont work well. Too many sick and negative on city load. Build up resources faster. Food coal. Lumber while building. At current direction you're gonna be really hurting on efficiency and rss stores when scenario trials fire off. A restart is highly suggested before you spoil scenario too much. You hsve to remember that these folks are coming off the ice. Weak, tired, very cold and hungry. What would make a healthy human ill, will kill these folks. They need light work and food, heat, rest. As long as you address this, you'll be able to ramp up other things quickly. Hothouses before beacon. Hunter huts only once you have excess workers. Those assigned to hunting cant change jobs during day. It weakens the workers and kills gathering efficiency and efforts. They unlike other jobs, are all or nothing. Thus hothouses more effective initially. You can do a double shift on a hothouse, but not with hunters. Refrain from extended or 24 hr shifts (which are really 36 hrs) early on. It really weakens your work crews. One double every 3rd day is fine until you get automatons going. 😊

    After this, please redo this same scenario without the basic errors to see if you can score higher. You need food made during day, gathered at night. Housing ready for wanderers and medical. Never skimp on heat. Just because it's survivable doesn't mean it's enough. Don't overwork people right off the ice. They need time to recover. That seems to be a hidden flag. Thus, do all basic techs first. Then focus, once baseline established and basic needs met. Min maxing can happen later. Don't know if storm or lords gonna be your biggest problem here. You know children coming. You should probably use them as medical assistance this go round, unless you're severely short engineers. 9 engineers were lost day 1. 8 froze 1 from overwork. Is that recoverable? Let's watch.😢

    Hunters is all or nothing. They have to return to drop off food. You just started the final diet plan. Hothouse needed bigtime. Makes food during day. Hunters bring it in at night. Can't hot swap them. Else you could move one guy all the time and tick up rss everyhour. Devs thought of this. Production has hourly. Hunting same as research (except it's not saved) have to be there whole time to ensure results. Dunno why, but you're making mistakes you avoided in first two scenarios. If you explain reasoning in video to audience it makes it easier to see why you did what you did. Remember mission. Food shelter higher priorities than tech, right now. Coal/heat/security next. Still baffled at initial choices. 13 dead first day.😮 Out of food now.

      Hey there. You are certainly right. I think after the dozen froze panic mode hit. Unfortunately for you as good advise as it is. I have had to do a few ahead of time. So you may not see your suggestions being taken. Also yes a very hard lesson on the food situation.

      @Leviathan_Cove also, why doesn't the game consider going underground for shelter? It is easier to control heating when surroundings are always near 50 f. With freeze, you'd probably have to go below frostline for static temps. It'd make for a different meta game. The deeper coal mines should be naturally warmer. By a lot. I did winter survival. The first thing I did was an igloo, then a fire. Then food (acorns abounded in squirrel caches , ate both owners too. Boiled snow after melting it next to fire, and boiled acorns a lot (like 4 water changes) then roasted them. Made flour and pancakes sorta. Chicory roasted for coffee substitute. Then dug down when refs said big storm coming. Used dead layer of grass for bricks and insulation inside. Made salt from boiled birch bark. The 3 to 4 days in place was easy. It was the 20km trek back to base that nearly killed me. No way to dry out. Looked like Michelin man from leaves I stuffed into my gear as insulation. It paid to read a lot as a kid. Passed course, but missed out on jungle school as US Panama thingee happened then. Ended up at POL and supply schools instead. Never got job I enlisted for though.

    First run you said kids to help in medical this time round. Food and shelter highest priority. Then heat. Early overwork always kills engineers from last two gameplays. Gets baselines set before progressing on tech. You'll likely need numbers of health to fend off or imprison lords. You should expect an attack during things. Likely just before the major storm hits if it progresses like other scenarios have previously.

      Ooftah, losing 12 right off bat hurt this run a lot. Leave some workers to build. Especially shelters. Engineers likely rare among common people. Treat them like a hotpocket on a cold winter's night.

    The scenarios will tell you most of what you need to know. So you can figure on what to focus upon. Having plenty, well before end game never hurts. When you have workers or engineers idle, pump up pub or doxy house staff occupancy . Be glad you have no bored soldiers... 😊

    Seems I guessed right on automatons.😅 Best have more spares just in case of accidents. Or being able to send expeditions faster. Maybe an extra housing in case folks flee new Manchester. If we go by last game, they're desperate and likely to do stupid stuff. Can't hurt to be ready. Even if just a couple of bunkhouses. You know the logic. Oh, look, they're sending us machines and relief! Look at that storm. They must have plenty if they can send us stuff. Let's run over there at the last minute and screw up their plans. And risk dying in this storm. Sounds great. When do we leave? First, let's highjack supplies and that machine!

    Think you may have to transfer engineers and automatons to new city too. Make extra. Faster you can move supplies the better. Extra basic hothouse needed to keep baseline food supplies stocked for storm. Wood seems covered as does coal. It's outfitting rescue trains that is gonna empty you quickly. So insulation and efficiency upgrades now too? Risky move. Thought you'd have to bring back their sick at least. On top of giving them survival toolsets.

      So I think you may be a bit ahead. I haven't seen what is required outside of this first run, or had any more communications about personnel at all. We will see what is needed, to upgrade and get more stockpiles going. Though with better heaters, we will be able to keep our engineers healthy for more work, as we start doing 24 hour shifts again.

    With expedition looking for survivors, you'll need an extra hothouse infirmary and housing. With one automation free, maybe build them until you can do more large depos? Insulation and heaters gonna be important. Figure out all heaters maxed, same for steam hubs, and overdrive cycling of main generator. Then the needed coal and food for duration of storm.

    From previous game. It's likely you're gonna need to have two steam hubs per Ark. -120 to -140 expected. Insulation everywhere too. More automotons so you can keep working through storm. Resources. Need massive buildup now, vs later. So supply depos one each basics and large x2 for coal. Extend range of lumberyards. If you're ready before storm great. Then upgrades. If you minmax, you will probably lose an Ark or two. Storm may shutdown everything even with automatons on it. Or they can break. Having back up machines cant hurt. I just feel a wall of ice gonna come hit yah and you're not gonna be able to work at all during storm. So automatons to the rescue. 5 was minimum. You have cores for back up heating now and for 5 more automatons easy. Insulation, heaters++, range, overdrive, etc. People living not as important as arks. So double heaters. At - 5, you're gonna need double heaters, Insulation, and a dedicated steam core for each Ark too.

    Pathing for machines to nearest recharge point is a major problem. Especially stepping over housing units. Another reason to place steamhubs early on.

    Steam hubs a priority. On between the double ark at 4 o'clock. One next to each of the other arks That's 3. Automation to coal mine. Build coal depo. Other automation on hothouse at night. And clearing extra stuff during day ( wood steel coal piles) After storm more depos. And steel mine/foundry put automation #2 here. Reasearch heaters/heating , then towards factory and automation max upgrades. Your men can all die at end, but the machines need to keep working. Your priorities are arks survival, fuel. Machines. Also extra research into insulation. Especially for arks.

      This means you should focus on steam hubs, heating insulation for ark survival. It should have been done at earliest chance. All basic research. Then, focused research to support arks. Bonus effects to people. If religion allows, make arks focus for same. Order law might not best here. This is going off obvious plots and how scenario was described. Also, Wikipedia. Yeah, I cheated there😊

    Scenario observations at a snap Fuel and food Heaters for arks Steam hubs for automations and ark heat buffers. With storm approaching. Food. Fuel and heat priorities. Rest is wasted time. This is a short burst scenario. Scouts top for abandoned supplies. Steam hubs needed asap for automations. Again mission is the arks. Check what automations can do with them. You'll need heaters, hubs and mining automatons. Place for fuel. As long as arks have heat. Fuel for reactor. They can keep mining and maintain heat profile for arks. So you need to focus there. Or you'll start to lose seeds and seedlings early on.

    Turn off charcoal makers until you meet wood needs. They should be using charcoal not wood to heat. And why houses dont have heated floors like Japan and Korea is weird. Uses any fuel and heat retention is high. Low gas and fire risks. Also making coke from coal (for steel) results in gases you can burn and tar/oil from condesates. Lots of simple techs engineers would know of or rediscover. Surprised stone and ice arent in use too for buildings. At those temps, even igloos are easy to build and heat. Ice reflectors on walls to increase sunlight hours and spread. Steam piping linking steamhubs to increase range and give homes and work places radiators. Saunas. Showers. Hot baths. Laundries. All necessary. Opportunities missed in game. Time crunch is real, but small things bring comfort. Hunters should also have had options to hunt down packs of bears and wolves. As flyers allow locating frozen herds in snow and ice too. Then send expedition to mine the food, fur and bones.

    You have several guardhouses. Maybe patrol with each. This should settle storm jitters. Building extra houses early also gives you room to react in time.

      So the guardhouses ability is all tethered together. If one patrols they all do. Also yes, we probably do want to get a few houses early. Though it will depend on how many children and adults are going to be joining.

    Maybe a notepad next to keyboard so you can write down major needs and times? Prison needs built sooner than later. Men harassing women. They need outlet. Get whorehouse soonest. You need more automations to free up manpower. Also hothouse in case problems prevent hunters going out. (Likely) You need at least 1 week of fuel and food as back up. Cause even automation will stop at -100c .

      Hey, so the prison is definitely going up soon. We have a promise to fill. Though I don't know about the brothel. I understand the reasoning. However I don't see it as a necessity, discontent is low, and it hurts our hope meter. That said, I find it more than a little unsettling, as the one in charge. To say to stop working at another job, and do that. As well at this stage, you made an argument for hope thematically for new kids and a future. It is way to short a timeframe to really be able to tell realistically. Not to mention it is bound to happen on it's own. As for Automatons, we are going to supplement our manpower for sure. Besides I think we are doing well for resources, so it would be a waste not to.

    Hothouse for food, right? Once you automate things, you'll need places to use them. Suggest more food coming in all day. This way, you're ready for events. Think a holiday or first birth might be an event. Really suggest the whorehouse. It'll provide discontent going down and pregnant women are sure sign of a future. You prob need baudy house away from housing, though. Especially if a wife or mommy is working a shift so things don't get awkward. I'd have kept the fishing hole intact. It's extra food. Full bellies are warm bellies, warm bellies are healthier and productive.

      That's not a bad idea. We are doing pretty good food wise at the moment. Though towards the big freeze that is a good idea. Also an interesting idea on the brothel, though we are not exactly suffering from discontent.

      @Leviathan_Cove a new life is hope. With food and warmth, its safety means more hope. Can't have that riding the line on food warmth shelter and lack of a future. New life -> future -> + hope. Surprised, there is no school option. Can you also take medical apprenticeship after engineering? So both are active? Would train future workforces.

    Man I just ran this last night with that decision. I had to restart once because I messed up my tactics and got screwed early on with my Marauder and Archer both losing side torsos. Went at it again with the intention of running clockwise using the hills, then discovered that this map is frighteningly small from side to side when I ran up against the wall. So I quickly reversed my rotation to counter clockwise staying mobile instead of relying on tree-cover for soak. Marauder and Archer still got the armor on one side torso stripped but it was the side I could face away as I rotated my circle. After taking out the faster half of the enemies I was able to back up on the hill top and block their line of sight until they crested the hill themselves and crush them one by one. My lance consisted of my sniper in the marauder, fire support in the archer, defender in a king crab with AC20s replaced with more long range weapons including a gauss rifle and a snubb ppc. My scout was in the ECM cataphract. I focused on killing everything with target lock asap forcing the rest of them to run at me to get inside ECM range, then killed them. Last enemy mech was the rifleman that starts off up on the western hill. I could have gone all in with assault mechs but wanted the marauders called shot specialty and didn't have a good LRM assault mech. Good times. Though my earned goodies sucked. When I'm traveling I often stop after each jump to see what's in the local stores, it's usually junk, but on the way there one system had a variety of goodies, and even more in the black market store, so I stopped over and bought it all. Oddly, I now have three gauss rifles, and 3 bins of ammo. I've only seen one bin since I bought the first rifle and bought two bins for it. I traveled from near the southern end of the Canopian border all the way up into Davion space and only saw the one bin of gauss ammo.

      Ouch, that sounded like a tough first try. Though that last half sounds like quite the engagement. I found that I actually quite liked using my king crab as and LRM boat, it does the job remarkably well. That being said, I understand just how annoying it can be trying to find specific gear in the stores. Another reason why I love the black market, and filtering planets for the former Star League.

      @@Leviathan_Cove Yeah, I'm usually pretty good with tactics but every so often I get surprised badly. :D And yes, I used to ignore the Black Market; it usually isn't long before the pirates hate me. The most recent runs though I'm trying harder to stay on their good side. First Black Market I saw though had really obnoxious prices, a +Gauss rifle was around 30k. I could have bought an entire assault mech for that. But I kept working my influence with them and peaked it and the prices became much more reasonable. And yes, I usually do stop-overs at StarLeague sites when I'm nearby. And now Black Markets too. I loaded my King Crab with a ++AC10, a ++Gauss Rifle, a ++snub PPC and a ++LRM15 and use it as my tank. Usually the rest of the lance is lighter: Marauder; Archer (Steiner version with a +++ missile computer) and the StarLeague Gryphon from the one Liao mission - with the ER PPC replaced with another ++snub PPC and the extra double heatsinks borrowed for the Marauder.

    Nice try, i just want to ask for EU4 series, which of the Very Hard achievments you want to try in 1.37? (i assume u have new dlc)

      So I actually don't have the new DLC yet, or Dominion at this moment. I may or may not by the next series, only time will tell. All Blue, and I don't Like Sand look like they could be fun. Though I don't have my mind set on anything in particular. I've only just started looking at achievements so it will be a balancing act. Skill ability, difficulty, and what I think would be interesting, will be the major factors.

    Coal is not number one to start. At -20 weird to say you don't need it. Wood is the thing you need first. Coal, you need but it's not number 1 on the list starting out. Odd you'd think so but it's not. Homes and a workshop to get research going. Without research you lose. Without coal you lose but not on the first few days.

      Huh, 500? That explains why it is so huge. We had roughly counted 300 in a horde before, but 500... Explains why it took so much. Also there was no real point to the bounties at that stage. We were maxed on available trust at the camps, and had stacks of credits. So keep things efficient for the story, and just kept going.

      Thanks. Also absolutely underrated. I remember seeing the trailer when it was PS exclusive, and was sad it wasn't more available. I feel like maybe that impacted things. So I am just hoping if that they figure a sequel will do better, now it's not. Much worse games have had a second go.

    You should consider building some more manpower buildings and soldiers households. Clearly money isn't an issue but manpower is an equal if not more valuable resource so investing it it would be wise!

      Probably a good idea. Efficiency isn't exactly necessary at this point. Though a bit of development will help too. So I'll jump on that.

      @@Leviathan_Cove haha true, i just find that in my games when manpower runs dry so does the fun I have in wars lol. The most fun campaign I ever had was a russia campaign using zlewwiks manpower dev guide (I think its patched now) but you really appreciate how much you can do with unlimited soldiers haha

    is there somethign weird going on with the ai lately? im playing bengal, just did a war and gave my vassal nagaur loads of land to 109% so they got loads of rebels popping up then i declared war on malwa... now malwa spends the entire war killing my own nagaur rebels for me and desieging the rebel held provinces.. ive never had an ai help me before while im sieging down their forts

      I think they can be funny at times. Though if you are super strong I'd assume that they are avoiding you while still trying to siege, with the rebels being the safer option.

    Do you adjust your aiming sensitivity or anything? I play on controller and have a hard time aiming. Good video and amazing underrated game!

      I think with most console games, controller is always better, as that is what it was designed around. Though I am more an Xbox man over Playstation, and that's the controller I use. I am on the default settings, no inversion. It is what I am most used to. It did take a little to adjust, like with most games. Though it did take a little to get the fine controls down. Also I well and truly agree, this game is fantastic. Hopefully if the story has another chapter, ( I don't know the end, yet) even if it is with other people. As long as the characters feel as decent as this one, and the story is on par quality wise. I would very happily play another.
