Did you screw the bolt in before the washer cuz that don’t work the way you show 😂😂😂
@@itamikuma13 you’re the first one to have a problem, maybe you misunderstood the video? I’m not sure what part of the process you’re referring to, but I made every single one I’ve don’t in that exactly same way and it works every time. Let me know and maybe I can help you fix the problem you’re having?
Are these parts in the plumber aisle or the electrical area?
A little of both! The EMT connectors will be in electrical but the sprinkler head will be in plumbing or outdoor. The main tube is also from plumbing. I believe it’ll be near the under sink parts. Good luck!
Yes thanks
What is the head from
The brass part? The emitter you mean? It’s a brass sprinkler head. The parts list is in the description.
questions: How heavy is it? what was the total price of all the parts? What is the length of the "Threaded Rod" and did you thread it yourself?
At the time of making this video the parts totaled around $40 US. At a guess, It weighs around 1.5 - 2lbs roughly depending on which parts you use and the material they are made from. The threaded rod is available in 12” lengths at most hardware stores and comes pre threaded.
Now this is a civilized weapon!
Very cool. Do more
Ware do you put the button
Very nice
Awesome build.
Were did you get from
hi im building this now. coming out great! how long did you cut the metal 12” pipe to fit between the emt connectors?
Roughly 4.5-4.5 inches but it’s up to you!
how much does it all cost?
Usually less than $40
How did you remove the sprinkler head markings?
I used a Dremel to slowly grind it down and then used a wire wheel to polish it up a little. You could also just maybe fill it in with resin or something like that and smooth it that way.
@@darranrobinson550 awesome! Thanks. Finishing up today. As everyone else has commented, thanks for a very informative video. Cheers!
@@kontradan that’s awesome! Hope you enjoyed building your hilt! Thanks!
That was a great vid. Thx for sharing!
Dude, this is AMAZING! Maybe the best DIY lightsaber hilt I ever saw. Thank you so much!
I'm gonna build this with my dad.
Awesome! Have fun!!! May the force be with you both!
@@darranrobinson550 And may the force be with you, too.
What is the weight of it? I’d love too know!
More than one of of those fancy aluminum ones but less than the Galaxy’s Edge Disney ones.
@@darranrobinson550 that gives me a bit of perspective, but I don’t own either of those
@@MFtheo I’m terrible at guessing! I was brought up in the UK with the metric system but I’ve been in the US for so long that I’ve gotten weights so confused. I’d say it’s under 2lbs (US) for sure, maybe even closer to 1.25lbs maybe?
@@darranrobinson550 Good too know thanks!

Is there a parts list I could have?
It’s in the description!
Exactly what I was looking for. Thanks!
really decend job sir :) i like it a lot wish you much more subscribers <3
Amazing! What brand are the EMT?
I got them at Home Depot, not sure which brand they were. Not even sure eggy display the brand Inc there packaging
Thank you for this. I built my own lightsaber, and was heavily influenced by your video here. Thank you for taking the time to post this.
This is so cool!
how do the washers not slide around? They aren't screwed on, so I'm confused as to how they stay centered.
They are sandwiched tightly once you tighten up the main shaft nuts.
@@darranrobinson550 thank you!
I will be trying to make my designs work with parts like this in the future. The problem is the blade. The blades I make are 26mm dia, and must have 10% of their length in the hilt for good balance and to reduce blade flex. My designs make set screw fittings impossible. ua-cam.com/video/CwH-bI-W8z4/v-deo.html
Dude this is one of the best DIY hilt videos I've seen! Any advice for making Graflex inspired ones?
I did some Graflex type hilts but it was much more trial and error compared to the Obi Wan/ROTJ Luke style. I guess I would say it’s all about finding a cool emitter shroud that will look the part as the rest is really just a stainless tube with greeblies on it and some windshield wiper blades for handle grips.
I’m an electrician so I always look for parts around the site that I can use 😂 “ this will make a fine addition to my collection “
Did you cut the chrome tube? It looks less than 12" long in the video? May I ask the cut lenght?
Yes, roughly 5” is the final length of the tube.
@@darranrobinson550 Thank you! Best looking DIY Lightsaber I've seen.
Really awesome build. This gave me some ideas to start from. I have always been a fan of the Luke Skywalker ROTJ Lightsaber. Thank you for sharing the parts list.
Do you recommend Zinc or Stainless Steel? I assume Zinc just due to weight.
Yeah zinc washers for sure.
What does the electrical tape do ? Just for looks ?
It’s more for aesthetics that anything.
I used this song for an IMovie the other day😅
This is the best one I’ve seen ! Nice job
Thanks!!
It’s near the end of 2021. I’ve been watching these “Home Depot” style lightsaber builds since 2008. This is seriously awesome! Hope you see this. I plan to make my very own and love your technique; although I’m a little confused on how I could modify it to add in a 7/8 or 1” wooden dowel rod to use as the blade? Can you help me out?
If you could find a way to make the “emitter” area deeper with a tube of some kind maybe?
@@darranrobinson550 that’s a good thought. I’ll have to just screw around with it and see what I can come up with. Thank you!
How do I add soundboard and light?
Love this! I made a few modifications in my build (used a bumper bolt and another long hexagonal lock nut instead of a square nut as well as filled in the notches and lettering on the sprinkler head, etc.) and weathered it differently than you but this was so fun to build. Love the weight and feel. It is my prized display. Wish I could post a pic....
That’s awesome! I wish I could see it too!
How did you fill in the lettering on the sprinkler head? I was going to consider grinding it down in some way.
@@kle2217 I used a product called SteelStick from JB Weld. It’s a steel reinforced epoxy putty. Once I filled in the lettering, I sanded it all down flush and painted the sprinkler head a metallic gold. Worked great at filling in the sprinkler notches on the edge as well.
@@griflynn Thanks! I’ll have to look for this.
How heavy is it?
It has a substantial weight to it but no more than the hilts sold by Disney at the parks for example.
@@darranrobinson550 gotcha. Yeah all those metal parts make it seem like it would weigh a ton. But good point with the comparison to off the shelf products. Thanks!
@@NicholasIbarra01 also, I once heard that a lightsaber is supposed to feel like swinging a big broadsword so I’d imagine the hilt is heavy enough to balance the “weight” of the blade…or something like that! Hahaha!
This guy deserves so much more then 86 subs, he even put in the time to make a tutorial. Sub to this guy
Two ads UA-cam?
There was a time about 12 years ago where plumbing lightsaber videos were all I watched. Thank you for the nostalgia
Hello can you link or tell me where you got the 2 inch flat washers and the EMT?
Home Depot and Lowe’s stock them. They are called Fender Washers.
I know im late to this, but can I use a pipe in the middle, instead of a threaded rod?
Without the thread how are you going to tighten it all together?
@@darranrobinson550 I don't know, but I need to have it hollow to put a blade in
@@fritiofclarin3611 if you figure it out you can let the rest of us know…or just watch my other video and try and figure out how I did it ;)
Made mine too. Didn’t even need to go to the hardware store.
Add a photo so we can see the finished product!
@@darranrobinson550 drive.google.com/file/d/1-VCf1T_8YTuzPhMM-nVwmQDNO2LgcaWT/view?usp=drivesdk
this is awesome dude one question how did you put it all together with glue or just screws?
Watch the video. No glue used.
@@darranrobinson550 cool do you have any other kinda topping/top part ideas instead of the sprinkler head? My Home Depot don’t have it
What size for the hose caps 3/4?
What type of pole ?
This looks absolutely amazing! I wanna do one own too but I'd have a question: What is this cook EMT connector part and where should I look for getting one, please? I'm not native English and wasnt able to google it out 🙂
