Welcome! I'm 1lukigurl (One Lucky Girl) and perseverance is my favorite character trait!
I started converting my Sprinter Van into a camper van in late 2020. In between then and now, I retired, flipped a house and adopted a double-amputee German Shepherd, Maple - all of which took me away from the van build work!
But NOW, I am SLOWLY and SURELY working on the van again and I ~WILL~ finish it and get on the road where I'm sure I'll find even more adventures!! Follow along!
I release Short videos out every Tuesday and Thursday with another short OR a longer video on Sundays!

DIY Aluminess Nerf Bar Install on a Sprinter Van – Conquering Claustrophobia Under the Van😰
In this video, I tackle the installation of Aluminess Nerf Bars on my 2015 Mercedes Benz Sprinter van🚐.
This project came with a few surprises-turns out, it’s a job you CAN handle solo, though I hit a claustrophobic moment when working under the van😬. Using Rhino ramps to elevate the van made all the difference!
I walk you through the whole process, sharing tips and showing everything you need to know: from the tools I used to close-up views of the connections, step-by-step installation, and the tweaks I made compared to the instructions. Whether you're tackling this solo or just looking for installation insights, I’ve got you covered. Let’s dive in!

Here is the link to the ONE other video that I found helpful! I don't think his van was a 2015 and it also did not have the gas line cover like mine did. He also made and fessed up to one mistake that I found VERY helpful to my work!

Kerfing Fail! Board Split!! 😩
Переглядів 32721 день тому
I ran into some trouble while kerfing a board for the curved corner cabinet in my van conversion. Things were going smoothly until the board split! I was using my skill saw, but as the cuts got thinner, I switched to another saw with a thinner blade. Unfortunately, I set the depth too deep and it cracked on the first cut!! Grrr! Looks like I’ll be starting over, but every challenge is an oppor...

Installing Renogy Solar Panels on My Sprinter Van Roof - Custom Mounts & Layout Challenges

In this video, I tackle the installation of four 100W Renogy solar panels on the roof of my Sprinter van! It wasn’t easy-I had to figure out a working layout after realizing the skylight and MaxxAir fan were in the way of my planned layout. Watch as I make custom mounting brackets, cut a hole in the roof for the solar gland, and deal with the unexpected challenge of needing extra parts (still w...

Cool project! I could learn a lot from this :)
Glad you liked it!
U R Amazing, it was great to meet you and you are inspiring with all you do.
@@rebeccaortega6049 Thank you for the Sisters group lead - when the van is done I’ll register and take part! Thank you too (and your husband!) for repairing my mothers ring! 💕
Good work! You did it! (Positive Self Talk)
Nice! Good progress (positive self talk!)
love the ingenious design. Beautiful work.
Incredible...
I’ve subscribed and appreciate what I’m learning from your videos. I”m converting a 2021 144WB. Have you made a decision on the acoustic wall slats for your ceiling? I’m curious about pros and cons.
@davidmcbride2235 Hi there! Thank you for subscribing! I have to tell you that I soooo undecided about the slat wall. The sample that I ordered is very nice - good quality - and I love the look of it! I think the felt backing may also have some additional insulating factors too. However - and this is big - someone told me it might absorb smells! I had not thought of that and it made me start to think twice about using it. I can only tell you that I have not purchased any other products yet for my ceiling or walls. So bottom line I’m still thinking about using it! Gotta pull my electrical lines first!!
Good luck with your conversion! Lots of work!
Amazing Video! Oustanding Concrete project. 🙂🙂🙂🙂👍👍👍👍👍👍
Good work!!❤
You're amazing. How many beautiful watts did you install. DIM did it myself. Wow.
400 💕👍🏻💪
Nice! Good luck with the rest of your build!!
LOL what a disgusting excuse for a human you are
Can we reach low beam with easy hand access to bulb or w ehahe to to take off item
@@josephhanna7056 I was able to reach it. I somewhat had to do it by feel.you should wear gloves to put the new bulb in. I did not. They say that the oil from your hands can affect the bulbs longevity….although mine is still working fine.
You’re strong! I bet those were heavy?!
Yes and awkward too! And I did not want to scratch the van OR drop them! Pressure!
Fancy next level cabinetry
LOL - We'll see...just having fun!
Shark bites lol. Make sure you put them in easily accessible places. They don’t last forever. I would not use them in the wall. They are awesome for repairs but not permanent.
@@olD_Eazy681 What would or do you use? Clamps?
:)
I would use pex in a van. Way cheaper than using shark bite fittings. Last weekend I was doing some repairs on my father in law’s home. I was having an issue with some copper not wanting to solder because it still had some water in the system. I started to get irritated and thought I’m just gonna go get a shark bite fitting. I thought about it for a while. I decided that it should be done properly, so I stayed at it and got it done. I have used them before but only in an emergency. I been plumbing for almost 10 years. I’ve seen shark bites fail and it’s usually right after the warranty is up. You should be ok since it’s a van but in a home with high water pressure I wouldn’t use them
@@olD_Eazy681 Agreed!
And the second thing you should do is have a couple beers lol😊
@@mikebelden-p7o Oh believe me Mike - I drink my fair share of beers! Some days this work drives me to drink! Lol! Thank you for watching! I appreciate it!
@@1lukigurl L O L I’m sure you do
Good job! Can't wait to see Part Two!
One improvement would be to clamp the wood down and use the drum with both hands. You'll have more control that way. I hope somebody will value my tools when I depart. It's a very comforting thought.
@@AlexDiesTrying Great advice! Much appreciated! 💕
That is a must have... wish I had room in my van LOL.
Great idea! Can't wait to see the finished product! Cheers!
So how to you keep your fingernails looking so nice?

Love the tape representation. Wish I would have thought of that. I used a marker like an idiot, and then had to sand to erase it. Your build is looking good. Oh, try doing landscape videos when you are showcasing more than a couple minutes. It will allow us to see more of what you are doing.
Yeah I was filming landscape and then stopped for some reason on my latest videos. You’re right - I need to resume that again! What video editor do you use? Curious. I’m using Adobe Rush - free version.
Can't wait to see it! You rock luki!!
I’m rewatching this bc I’m about to do this but so nervous!!!
Good luck!!🍀
Hey gurl xx you’re doing so fab…
Well thanks for the vote of confidence!! Making a few mistakes here and there but all is well in the end!!
I think you should call a professional like Mike Belden to help you. L O L you’re doing a great job.
If you know electrical, I might call you! I'm trying to find my way... The more I do and learn, the more I know that I don't know anything!! Gah!!
Great video! Very clear! Thank you for the tips on which bits to use, etc.
You're inspiring, motivating and simply just cool. This is going to be SO awesome!!! (It already is!)
@@anniemelin2492 The nut doesn’t fall far from the tree! 💕
This is great!! I’m 60mmm as well 😂 working on getting a van to build. But now, I’m in the planning mode. One question, well actually two. First, wouldn’t a fan come in handy over your bed as well? Two, what happens if your actuators go out for any reason? I decided on a fixed bed for that reason. One less thing for this ol’ traveler to worry about on the road.
Hello fellow 60-something year old! A couple of things - the skylight is right over the bed (and it’s big!!). I hoping that the fan pulls air through the skylight BUT I also have sirrocco wall mount fan that I’ll be installing (which can be directed in any direction). Regarding a failure of the actuators, I am planning to have my benches convert to a bed as well. I’d like to take my two grandkids along at times. If it failed in a down position I guess I’d loose my sitting space until I could repair it. If it failed in an “up” position I’d sleep on the bench bed. I’m optimistic though! The EZ Topper Lift is made here in MN! Thank you for watching! If you start videos of your own, let me know! Until then happy planning!!
I'm glad that I found your video! Pretty ambitious install, and I appreciate your sense of adventure to try things out & see how it goes. I think it's one of the best ways to learn & expand your knowledge. I have a van build going on an older Promaster. It was a family hauler when our kids were young & had various extended road trip configurations for K9 SAR thru the years. Now that I'm retired, it is becoming a camper/comfortable road van to support my volunteer adventures. Subscribed!
Thank you so much for your kind words and your for your subscription! I love hearing about others that are building out a van! It's a significant amount of work and commitment - especially if you have no experience! I am finding a lot of joy in my build though and am not rushing it - though I do look forward to the day that I can actually use it! Ha! The Minnesota winters (and my many other interests) slow me down; distract me. I also do not have a garage large enough to accommodate it. I am hoping to install the heater ~before~ the snow flies which might allow me to keep working on the inside over the winter months! Fingers crossed!
Check out AGM batteries well worth the extra 100 dollar charge.have had mine for years with no issues even in 20 below cranks right up each and every time
Thank you for sharing. Your build is going to be amazing. We are working on a van build too. Much older van, 2003 Ford 250 conversion. We are a couple of weeks out from completing it. Just subscribed to your channel. Look forward to seeing your progress.
Oh those old vans are cool! That must've been a fun conversion - congrats on your progress! I have a ways to go yet... I'm trying to get some key things done before winter hits! I have no garage large enough for the van so my build always stalls when the MN snow flies! Thank you for watching and subscribing! I appreciate it!
❤❤ so good...welldone...had to subscribe....and follow your building journey...
Thank you!! I appreciate it!
I wish I was disciplined enough to have a board like that laugh😅 but it's my third time rebuilding my van😂

Thank you!
Brilliant. Best bed solution I've ever seen. Move over murphy and fold out beds, there's a new girl in town.
I love you and the support you give to this channel! Thank you!! I have to honestly say that I ~really~ do like this Topper LIft idea. I've looked at tons of bed ideas and this one appeals to me the most in terms of the minimal space that the actuators take up and the lesser cost (as compared to a HappiJac or similar). This is one decision I'm very happy with!!
It's already totally unrecognizable. You're AMAZING!!!
