Loosening transmission bell housing dowel pins with vibration.
How about using an air hammer to vibrate a dowel pin to the point where it breaks the tension bonds holding it in place.

So my new camper, which I have mainly used as an office, just wasn't designed to be an office. I decided that instead of buying yet another camper I'd redesign the floor plan from a "rear dinette" to a "rear office micro dinette" The reduction in dinette space means it can no longer double as a fold down kids bed, but the increased floor space allows the deployment of a fold-able sleep cot. I strongly recommend you do research online before buying a Hyundai/ Kia. Let's just say their reputation is severely under stress
@@themarginalmechanic5928 Yeah im scared but i will do my research on Kia more
It would help if you could provide links to all the parts. You created that special fuse thing but how to exactly do it? Another posting said that you also should do a transmission relearn procedure on the ECU?
I have no idea what you're talking about.
Transfer case?

This happened to me this morning and it was cold outside...and like you say I just let it warm a little bit and some revs and it was all good...I also changed the oil and oil pan this summer and all was good until now...but definitely I will chek the oil level...thanks for your video...😊
Help!!! 2013 Dodge Avenger making almost the same sound ua-cam.com/users/shortsEKo1JYhepyM?si=OyBff09gb5LyT0v2
Weird question, I drive the hell out of my 2013 armada RWD but it’s sitting at 104k miles and well it’s running a bit slower and I hear a bit of a whirring sound when I accelerate slowly in first, then it takes a bit to put the power down when I give it more gas, that a transmission issue? Or engine problem? Love the video by the way I started a while back wanting to repair my vehicles myself, I also plan on going to UTI to learn more.
i have a 2010 armada with 235k miles and now every other time in the morning or after a long parking time, when I start driving and i put direct D takes a few seconds for the gear connect and start moving...any idea? my mechanic told me that a transmission fluid change will be fix this issue.. any idea? thanks
What happens if you put in reverse does that work correctly? If that works correctly then I'm going to say it's a valve body. If that does not work correctly then it could be the pump or clogged filter or inadequate amount of fluid. Also that vehicle has a transmission dipstick so you should be able to determine the quality of the fluid and the quantity.
Your van is going to explode because you didn’t buy this from Toyota. 3:25
I'm running O'Reilly's valvoline max life multi vehicle. Most fluids will interchange. Some seals don't like wrong fluids, but some need the seals to swell so they seal again. 😂
Awesome, i just got a 2007 sedona... thanks bud
How many miles on it? Does it need a lot of work? If you're in the New Hampshire area I might be able to help you out if you need to get some things done
@themarginalmechanic5928 yeah it's at 160k, engine runs smooth and I'll probably keep up on the oil. atleast make it last hopefully 250k.. I'm in montana I can take a trip haha
Well hopefully I've got videos that can help you out.
@themarginalmechanic5928 have you ever tried chevy wheels on the sedona since they are same bolt pattern or is the center hole to different?
Both same car recently and realized trans fluid was like 2” higher than max level on a dipstick. So I just change it to the correct level & I hope I did everything good
It's important to follow the procedure for checking transmission fluid.
How is this procedure? Worm engine, but I don't know to check it on D N or P transmision mode? Engine running??
Gracias por este. Exelente videos...God bless you...
Can you let us know what is the current condition with the new torque converter? I have 2008 Kia optima and has transmission issue 5th gear at between 2100-2300 rpm. Mechanic shop told me that torque converter is bad. Mechanic shop told me that they need to replace transmission however Kia discontinued the transmission assembly. Your video is super helpful. Not much Kia about old Kia’s on UA-cam.
Torque converters are prone to various failure modes, but two are especially common. First, the internal vanes, which are pushed by transmission fluid to generate torque, can gradually deform over time. This deformation often occurs at inconsistent rates across the vanes, leading to a noticeable shudder when the torque converter is in a slip mode, gradually matching engine speed. However, once the torque converter locks, this deformation is much less noticeable. The second issue is the potential loss of a counterbalance weight inside the torque converter. If a weight detaches, the converter becomes imbalanced. This imbalance may not be noticeable initially, but as the vehicle reaches a specific RPM-often hitting a resonant frequency-the imbalance produces a vibration similar to that of an unbalanced wheel. If your vehicle’s issue issue only occurs in a particular gear at a specific RPM, it is more likely to be related to the clutch packs within the transmission rather than the torque converter or valve body.
@themarginalmechanic5928, this is super helpful. I really appreciate your comment. The issue is around 2000 rpm (1900-2200), something is not engaging. It’s like a kick then rpm goes up to 2500, and everything is fine. What I am understanding from your common is that only changing torque converter will not solve the issue. Replacing the transmission is my best option or rebuilding it. Transmission specialists are asking between $4k-$5k to rebuild it and only give warranty for 10k miles. My car already has 137k miles on it and I don’t want to spend $4k for transmission.
The kick you describe is actually an important notation and I'm sorry if I overlooked it in the first response. To review. 1. Worn-Out Clutch Packs: Clutch packs are physical components responsible for torque transfer. When they wear out, they tend to slip, especially when shifting gears or under high torque situations, like climbing a hill. This wear results in a loss of grip, making the vehicle feel like it’s struggling to engage gears properly. Worn clutch packs will consistently slip due to their inability to fully transfer torque as they degrade over time. 2. Valve Body Issues: The valve body, on the other hand, controls hydraulic pressure and is responsible for directing fluid between clutch packs during shifts. Problems here can lead to harsh, delayed, or erratic shifting because the valve body modulates the hydraulic pressure that engages each gear. Valve bodies include o-rings, plungers, and other mechanisms that interact with hydraulic fluid. A faulty valve body doesn't require removing the entire transmission to replace; often, a rebuild kit with new seals and components (available from companies like TransGo and Sonnax) can restore functionality. If you have access to real-time transmission data, you may notice unexpectedly slow or irregular pressure changes between shifts (e.g., from 4th to 5th gear), indicating potential valve body issues rather than clutch pack wear. If the issue lies with the valve body, a rebuild or even a remanufactured valve body could resolve it. Many transmission shops can handle these rebuilds, but some prefer using fully tested, remanufactured valve bodies to minimize the risk of error. --- In short: Clutch pack wear results in torque slip and is generally a continuous issue across various driving conditions. Valve body issues manifest as erratic shifts due to hydraulic mismanagement and can often be serviced without full transmission removal. On a side note I just replaced a transmission in a Ford expedition 4x4 and it took me about 15 hours. I got the transmission from a salvage yard for $400 and it had less than 100,000 mi on it. The transmission works perfectly and for 400 bucks I got my money's worth.
THANK YOU for posting this! Helped me to get to the issue I was having too! Mine was also full of water when I got into it.
I agree that the manufacturer set us up to fail. I got mine for cheap on ebay no doubt from someone who couldn't get it to work. I couldn't return mine so I took out my tap & die set and made it so i could screw clean through, applied some loctite and hoped for the best. I just finished and haven’t drove it yet, but it seems like a success. 🎉
I have the same issue on my sedona 2006 with 270k miles..it's a slow now. How much would it cost if I take her to a shop? Is it transmission or engine oil when this happens? Thanks
The rear main seal and circles the crankshaft so if it's leaking you're going to get engine oil coming out between the engine and the transmission. Depending upon how it runs off it may look like it's coming from some other location. You do have to remove the transmission to change out the rear main seal. It's a big job.
Umm. I might wait until it gets bad ..or might as well replace or rebuild the whole transmission since is the factory one with 270k miles and 2006 (18 years old) , I also surprised this transmission have last this long..probably because I flush it every 50k miles.
I was looking for some that didn’t use Toyota ATF because I believe the saying that they’re all checked You just need yo change to with WS and it will later The hard part people just don’t change it Thanks

Hello I have a huge question because I was debating on either fixing the compressor or buying a newer used car. Is is bad to leave it with this problem for a long time? Will it damage other parts if I do not replace it fast enough? I don’t use the ac anymore as instructed by the mechanic. I just mainly need to see how long I can drive for because if I can leave it wi the the issue I can look for a car with ease rather than investing more money on the old car
So if the compressor is spinning at high RPM and the bearings seized it will most likely snap the serpentine belt which will slap against items under the hood like cooling lines, air conditioning lines and other such things and could do some significant damage.
If all that was shown in this video was how to remove that back mounting bolt, it still would have been worth the watch.
Yeah, I have been struggling for days trying to get that f@$Kr off! Lets hope tomorrow I will have more sucess with these tips 🤨
Has the van landed after it exploded😂😂😂 it's only been a few years
Thank you . Was looking at this
I was wondering about filling the oil filter resivor.
You actually can't fill it with oil. If you look inside there you'll see these big orifices for the oil to flow. If you were to pour oil in there it would just pour down into that orifice and disappear.
Thank you
You're my best friend.
Thank you for taking the time to show and explain how to release the connectors for the COIL PACK. No one else has done this.
What about the other one for the driver side
The driver side one is super easy to get to. Look under the dashboard on the driver side and it's right there on the HVAC unit
Thanks so much I really appreciate it
@@themarginalmechanic5928 I changed both of them everything working great thanks for telling me I appreciate it
Did you get any codes when it did this?
I don't recall reading any codes but it was clear on the dashboard that there was a drivetrain error or something like that.
@@themarginalmechanic5928 ahh gotcha, thanks. My car is doing the same exact thing right now and I'm getting one single error code, 420641, which says something about the parking lock being incorrectly applied. I was reading over on bimmerpost, and two other people had the same problem and their issue was also low fluid and they also had that one single code so I'm hoping my issue is just low fluid. I had to screw in that emergency neutral release lever, and get my car towed home about an hour ago. :/
I replaced the engine on a 2009 clubman. When I put start it, it idles really rough. Did you put the vvt solenoids and the vanos actuator from the original engine onto the new one?
I did not move any components like that from the old engine to the new engine. Before I purchase the replacement engine I personally witnessed it running in the smashed up car that donated it. It ran great and only had 70,000 mi on it so I wasn't going to take anything from the old engine
Thank you sir
you left out parts at the END!!!!!
Love the scream at the end - the feeling you get after all that hard work paying off - the best feeling ever.
I was just watching this video and laughing that he kept referring to the transaxle as a transfer case. I'm sure he knows the difference but in his mind somehow they got crisscrossed.
I have a 2005 with this same CA compliant pump. The ring was a bitch to get off. I used some Blaster to loosen and clean it , then I tapped for like a half hour in each hole going counterclockwise..... I accidently bought the non CA compliant pump (has 3 connectors and a different top. do you know if I can use this ? Otherwise, I just ordered another CA compliant pump (was cheaper) that has 2 connections and fits the ring.
Given that it's a fuel pump and we're talking about electrical connectors it could be different I would strongly recommend the correct part. It doesn't have to be Kia but it should at least be the right part. Good luck
didn't you have to take the transmission out and the torque converter out first?
Yes
@@themarginalmechanic5928 why not show that part?

Thank you for the video - I am going to try to loosen the passenger panel to allow the flexibility without geting under the side panel. Then I'll try to get the speakers and floor piece out of the way to access the fuel filter assembly. That's the plan to avoid some of the more painful areas..
Hey there. I just saw this video. A good friend of mine has a 2006 Sedona LX that he's willing to work with me $$$ wise because I need something else for transportation. I'm bringing a good friend who's a mechanic with me to look it over this Saturday. The van has an electrical smell coming from under the hood. The van runs and drives, but doesn't overheat at all. It only gives the smell after the engine has warmed up. It has 156,000 miles on it. We're hoping it's not an expensive fix. He had the brakes and rotors done earlier this year. What do you think is causing the electrical smell?
thank you ! I didn't even know i had a probe....applied your fix. Thanks again!
Just removed a starter from 07 Kia Sedona and all I had to remove was the battery tray. Bolt was a straight shot, then under got the other bolt. Starter came out from the top.didnt remove the mount

Great video. I bought the haynes manual and your video included allot more insight and detail about the process. For example the trans dip stick tube, steering column, and power steering are all absent in the book. Everything else is pretty much to the tee, however your starter removal method seems easier.
