Get Your All For Reef Powder Mixing Perfectly With This Magnetic Stirrer!

In this video, I'll demonstrate how I get my All For Reef Powder Mixing Perfectly With This Magnetic Stirrer. I purchased this countertop magnetic stirrer from Amazon. This unit is inexpensive and did a great job, and comes with an 8mm x 30mm stirring pellet, which is enough to stir a lot of liquid. Are you stirring liquids in smaller quantities or need to stir for an extended period of time? A...

Introducing New Fish After Devastating Marine Velvet Outbreak

In todays video we are finally adding the new fish after the devastating Marine Velvet outbreak. If you remember I lost most of my fish after adding 3 Tangs from a tank shutdown. In this video we will look at how I used Copper Power in my quarantine tank, the equipment I had to buy, and how I managed the 30 day treatment. All this is because I lost most of my fish due to Marine Velvet (I believe) and only had a few left. Looks a great building, not seen one on a galvanised frame before ! My suggestion would be getting an electrician to fit the electrics before cladding the internal walls. Would make for a nice clean job

    • @ReefDrama
      @ReefDrama 2 дні тому

      Hi, thanks for your suggestion. Yes, the electrician is coming in 1st, then I've got the insulation, Vapour Barrier, and internal walls/ ceiling to do. Hopefully, it will be a clean job 🤞 That's the look I'm going for anyway 😀 The Galvanised Steel Base was for a couple of reasons. 1. I think it would have cost a lot to excavate the ground to make it flat and then put in a concrete pad. 2. Will get a nice bit of air flow underneath, so it will prevent rotting and potentially sitting in pools of water on a concrete pad. Thanks for supporting my channel 😀

      Hi Mark, I'm glad the video helped you 😀 Yes that's right, although you may want to have the difference between T1 and T2 less, otherwise you may experience Heater Timed Out and it will stop heating and sound an alarm showing a certain error code. Totally guessing as i know nothing about yer tank.I would say some how the fish were stressed too much.Adding three big tangs at once perhaps was to much of a bioload on the system and either ammonia or nitrates went too high.80 ppm nitrate in my experience fish start to get sick.Tangs are big just think how many gobys it would take to equal the weight and size of one tang then times that by 3. Then theirs the diet tangs must have herbivore food or they will become ill over time. Any time i know im gona be gone a while i will feed my fish extra or more often for a few days before i leave to get them fat and strong.I also like to keep some of my favorite meds on hand. Removing a ill fish a placing in a small hospital tank quadruple the stress level of a fish ,so if more than 1 fish is sick it my be wiser too remove corals if its only a few or just use a somewhat reef safe medication.

    • @ReefDrama
      @ReefDrama 9 днів тому

      That's very good points. It could have been too much adding them together, although the tank was stable and had been running a long time beforehand. I think their diet was fine and definitely wasn't lacking in anything as they all get bits of mussel and cockles from feeding Piney. Probably won't ever fully know the real reason, but one thing is for sure, I will always quarantine now. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and for supporting my channel 😀

    • @ReefDrama

      Hey mate, it's not really a fair representation due to the fact I have a massive, messy eating Porcupine Puffer, so my nutrients are always around 20-30 ppm Nitrate and 0.1-0.2 ppm Phosphate. I also dose No-Pox. Once the Piney is moved into his new home (upcoming video spoiler alert ⚠️), I'm hoping the nutrients will come down and then I'll be able to see what happens with regards to having the Reef Mat taking everything out. Totally understand why you have to have a smaller tank, and to be honest, I take my hat off to you for having a saltwater tank in the first place. I'm guessing your time is pretty limited, so it's amazing you've the time to enjoy your hobby as I know smaller tanks require more upkeep. I hope you can upgrade to the 32 AIO as that will be great. And to be honest it’s not all that difficult, I mainly just keep up on weekly water changes only about 1-2 gallon changes so it’s only about 5-7 minutes out of my day and I run carbon on my system and I buy my water from my LFS to save time and it’s more stable for me and I have my lights on a timer now as I’ve upgraded to more controllable LEDs, I also have softy’s and LPS as they are much more forgiving and then for fish I have 2 black ice clowns and about to buy my wife an orchid Dotty back or a bi-color dotty back as they tend to stay small like the clowns overall having smaller fish and a small bio load and hardy corals makes makes it more enjoyable for me

      Thanks Craig, yes very stressful, but all done over a long weekend, believe it or not. Friday eve and Saturday for the tank. Then Sunday, we hired a van for everything else, leaving only small stuff that would fit in the cars and then Monday to unpack/ unbox and put stuff in its place! Had a rest going back to work! 😆 Thanks for supporting my channel 😀

    This was a very good video ,great explanation of what a QT tank should look like. I have same QT setup now my main concern is my new porcupine puffer. Seems they do ok as long as copper is ramped up slow, thanks for confirming!!!

    • @ReefDrama
      @ReefDrama 4 місяці тому

      Hi, thanks for that 😀 much appreciated. Hope all goes well with your qt. Yeah, I think that's the key on any delicate fish that can't tolerate copper very well is to use Copper Power and slowly ramp it up. Remember, the time countdown starts once you have reached the therapeutic level. Obviously, do your research as some won't tolerate copper at all. Good luck, and thanks for supporting my channel 😀

      That's a shame you've had troubles. I would have had them off you!! 😀 When my Red Sea 425xl seal started splitting, I found their customer service to be very good. I must admit my Reefmat does have some sponges on it, but it comes out every 6 months for a complete strip down and clean. Otherwise, I just clean the parts that need cleaning during the fleece roll replacement. I would definitely buy another if required as it's so easy to take apart, clean, and replace the roll. I have a question. Did you opt to go for an upgraded tank or did they refuse to stand by their product and offered you an upgrade at a discount? I have been doing alot of reading on forums lately and have seen the horror stories about dealing with their customer service dept.

    • @ReefDrama
      @ReefDrama 4 місяці тому

      Hi, I originally brought the RSR 425xl brand new for £1400 and they offered me like a voucher against a percentage of its equivalent value in today's money (back when this happened) which was a lot more than I paid originally, which I refused and went back with a counter offer. I presume I could have brought any Red Sea equipment with it ( I didn't actually ask that question, though), but I opted for the 625xxl G2, and I had to put money towards it. If I had wanted a different brand of tank, then I would have had to pay out for the entire thing, probably between £3000 - £4000 for a similar size which at the time I couldn't afford so I went with the best option for me. The customer service was really good in my experience, but then I was respectful towards them with my manner of written emails and when speaking to them! The main thing I took away was I should have put a 'Ticket in' straight away rather than waiting for the LFS that I purchased the tank from who I think was waiting for their Red Sea rep to visit them. Should the tank start splitting at the seams in the 1st place? NO !! But it did, and you have to just deal with it. Thanks for supporting my channel 😀

      @sg1trogdor 4 місяці тому

      @@ReefDrama cool thanks for the response. I have been looking at these tanks for a while old and the g2 models and it seems like this is still and issue with there tanks and some of the horror stories i have seen with them outright refusing to warranty their products have left me a bit uneasy since I recently purchased a 350 g2. I guess if it fails it fails. I was too impatient to wait several months for waterbox or someone else. I guess time will tell if im just another in the seemingly long and getting longer line of unhappy customers.

      Haha, yes I guess you're right, although in my mind when I set the channel up it was more about leaving the RODI unit on and flooding the floor, or a fish deciding it doesn't like water any more and wants to try it's hand at being amphibious or maybe the skimmer cup overflowing etc etc !! 🤣🤣 Thanks for supporting my channel 😀

  • @desmondlarmond9698

    You could add a skimmer guardian to shut it off when the cup is full.

    • @ReefDrama
      @ReefDrama 5 місяців тому

      Ha, is this because of the blue bag over the top of the skimmer? Lol. Just stops it spraying everywhere if it foams up. I did have a Skimmer Guardian, but I used it in the sump, so when the return pump stopped and water rose up, it would automatically turn off the skimmer. It has since stopped working, so it has been thrown away. Thanks for supporting my channel 😀

I’m new to saltwater fish, and had my nano tank setup for a few weeks, everything was going well and I finally added my fish that i ordered online. Within 3 days both my clowns died and by the next day the gramma was dead as well.
