"Historic" is an ambiguous term in these elections. The usual political party won almost everything, so everything will stay the same, nothing historic about this. Jesús Manuel wasn't a strong candidate and that it's why he came in third, but in the rest of the island his party triumphed. With a stronger candidate for governor literally this elections would have been the same as the previous ones. The nexts elections will literally be almost the same. Nothing as changed.
I understand, but I do think the PIP winning entire municipios is historic and hopeful. And I will always choose to be hopeful. As Alfredo said the night of the elections, he's never seen a green and blue map, hence 'historic.' Also, there were two additional ballots introduced this year and that is, objectively, new. That is a change.
@ Yes, I think it's just milestone, and an expected one. The formula was that Lugaro's past voters would vote for him, and that is what happened. Nothing really changed to call it historic.
@@eduardocarlos149 if various never-before-seen factors take place then that makes it memorable and worthy of studying later on as part of our history. It is the first time various candidates from PIP won, it is also the first time in 70+ years that the PPD was not in the top two for governor. Whether you want to attribute it to a weak candidate or not it is a fact that it is the first time in our entire history that it has happened, making it historic. This would be true even if next election PPD would go back to being in the top 2 for Governor. This is also true for when Lugaro ran for Governor the first time. It was an unprecedented event that as an effect has led to the current state. Whether it will have an outcome leading to a change or not in the future is yet to be seen but it would be foolish not to understand the historic impact it has in one way or another.
@@TheArtKingdomYT What "various candidates" of the PIP are you talking about apart from María del Lourdes and Denis Márquez (that have been elected in past elections)? Adriana? Because with the votes that are still needed to be counted she might not win, sadly. What is it there to study? Dalmau got Lúgaros votes, which was literally discussed months ago. Lúgaro indeed made history by being the first independent candidate to obtain a third place. This is Juan Dalmau's third election, he just got more votes. On the other hand Puerto Rico lost, Mariana Nogales, Rafael Bernabe, Ana Irma and Betito. What makes historic that Jesús got a third place? meanwhile his party have the most amount of mayors. Let's stop romanticising that we "made history" by loosing. For me, everything was expected.

Hey Kerry, your podcasts are always great. THANK YOU.
Thank you so much for this comment!
Truth!!! Así es. ¡Genial, hermana! Gracias por tus viedos y el ánimo.
Hola, ive listened to a few of your podcasts and yourube videos as well and i have to say youre probably the most in depth pr teacher ive come across during my long term search. Besides creating educational content online, do you provide one to one tutoring or group sessions? Thank you!
Thanks so much for your kind words! Absolutely, I could take on 1 or 2 additional students at this point for 1:1 tutoring. I also have my Spanish with Kerry Community where I offer monthly challenges and live group classes. If you'd like some more information, shoot me an email at spanishwithkerry@gmail.com
This might be a stupid question, but I live in the state - and, I probably will the rest of my life. I've been learning Spanish for almost 1.5 years, and while I enjoy it. What really is the purpose of learning a second language? My romantic partner speaks English and my job is only English as well. I take private lessons and speak with family members, so I have practice. But, I've become introspective in a sense of why am I doing this anyway? Are there other benefits that I'm missing in picking up a second language?
I get it! There are a ton of benefits to the brain 1) increases the amount of white and gray matter in the brain (which contribute to increased brain plasticity & help protect against mental health problems) 2) helps delay the onset of cognitive decline (Alzheimer’s and dementia) 3) improves attention span/executive functioning of the brain (since bilingual people constantly have 2 languages active in our brains, the brain has to get better at focusing on which language to produce when)
Plus, the abstract benefits of learning from and connecting with people that come from a different culture/perspective than you.
I always appreciate how you contextualize nuances in Spanish by providing examples in English (ex. Produce vs Produce). It helps put things into perspective! Please keep up the great work.
Thanks so much for this! I appreciate that feedback.
It’s very useful,I have been trying to reach a source and I ended up here ,I’d follow you
Great vid. I've been looking for resources around parradas to learn and teach the kids. I also appreciation the corrections at the end. it's helpful to see and consider my errors.
Aww! That makes me so happy to hear! Thanks for passing these songs along to the kids
Hiii Kerry! If it makes you feel better when my friend told me how to say no funcionó I thought it was multiple separate words until I saw it on subtitles 😂 " no fun si o no"
Perfect explanation.
A convo between two of my faves! Thank you both for sharing the PR culture.
Thank you! Great advice. (by the way, you have such a beautiful face, you could model. Danish and French?)
Desperately needed to hear this, I'm presently in the valley of despair and it's so difficult to stay motivated when progress is so painfully slow. I really appreciate that you said you wanted to be yourself in Spanish, this is also my goal but it also stunts my growth as I try and translate things to be exactly what I would say in English, making it more complicated for me. I imagine that will go away with time but I'm thrilled to hear you found that for yourself and I can't wait to say I'm in the same spot as you one day. Gracias!
Thank you for this Kerry🙏 finally makes sense...
One of the things that I despise the most is when people bastardise good words (oh so common with Yanks) because of sheer laziness. So your "vocab" earned you thumbs down! Besides, your video was a total waste of time, since you didn't tell me anything I haven't heard in the school already.
Great video. Thanks!
What flash card app do you use or recommend?
This video is exactly what it takes! In order to do anything well, it takes daily disciplined habits. Kerry is right!

Info on consultation?
What info are you looking for? How to book? If so, the link is in the description of this video. How does the session run? I ask the student to talk to me about their history with learning Spanish and what their goals are. I then give suggestions for a study plan (including resources) based on that. The notes I take during the session, the links to the resources, and the suggestions for study are emailed to the student after the session.

Thanks for stating the bleeding obvious.

This is my fourth go-round with learning Spanish. Thanks for the inspiration.
Don’t stop! It’s not in your vocabulary list of phrases. But if you want to learn how to say it: ¡No te detengas! (informal). ❤

Hi what vocab app do you use?
Personally I use Anki App because I started with it and just continue to use it, but I recommend Quizlet to my students. It's more user friendly and way more efficient for importing new vocab.
