    Hi there, I love your work on that dashboard. I have an 87 caprice... obviously the dashboard is cracked, what do you charge to restore these? I would love to see if I could possibly get you mine. Thanks in advance!

    I know you made this video awhile back, but I needed to comment. I've watched dozens of videos about dash repair. Not only does yours turn out the best I've seen, but your skills at making this look easy shows how much of a professional you are. Damn you're good.

    Great work Not many people re cover dashboards they usually have them vacuum formed. So I think you have a great market opportunity for the classic car market or I guess the modern market as well. Orange leather dash would look great on my 70 Challenger

    Looks real nice. I didn't need to see 10 minutes of you sewing straight stitches. I'd much rather you have done a Voice Over on what to watch out for, 'why you're doing some special move and just any random thoughts you have on the hobby - I'm going to check out what else you've posted.

    Absolutely fantastic instructional video! I learned so much from this. Great tips. Yes! Use a steamer...that is genius. I have seen heat gun being used and you are right, it has great potential to ruin a project. I have one question...what is the contact cement you are using? I don't have a sprayer, so will be using a brush on my project (dash surround). Lot's of opinions out there about cement. Thanks in advance Sensei!

    You modernized a '27 Packard Club Sedan? That's a downright sin! I'm a roster keeper for the Packard Auto Club, there are only four of these known to exist, and you modify it? A full classic? Something this rare has to be put back stock, street rod a Model A or something, but this is just wrong...

      I would agree with you if it was my vehicle. But my customer is an 84 year old retired fire chief and this is what he requested. It was gutted with a caved in roof when he found it. Thanks for your input.

  • @josephd.4890
    @josephd.4890 Рік тому

    Well I'm not going to say you're a hypocrite, cuz that's kind of aggressive but.... you complain about the factory using the cheat method the button the plates, and then you don't replace the foam. Shame Shame Shame

    • @andrascustomupholstery4220
      @andrascustomupholstery4220 Рік тому

      This job was just a re-cover job. Anything extra was because I chose to do it. The point I was trying to make was factory can do cheap work and get full price, but when a customer pays less to get it recovered, they expect more than from factory without paying factory price. And there was no reason to replace the foam, it was in good shape just not centered.

    Looks great! Did you use two pieces of 1/4" foam for the backer and what pen did you use to mark out the diamonds?

    • @andrascustomupholstery4220
      @andrascustomupholstery4220 Рік тому

      Yes I used 1/4” sew foam but 2 pieces equaling 1/2”. The gel pen I used came from Amazon. 100 pack for less than $10
