Fiction Files: A Character Study of Cole Turner
I’m with you. This book was terrible. No character development. It was so lame.
I was laughing and saying omg to the things you were saying were in the book I’m mean dam the pandas it sounds random yet funny
Rosalie's Twilight character is full of potential in the film, deliberately suppressed so that she is not likable in the books, she is a bit more, but she wants to read her lines and analyze between the lines and the plot, which is strongly sexist Edward, who did not come through their first meetings. For me, it is Meyer who has caused raped women to be seen as dirty, superficial, without the right to their own pain and opinion. She even uses Jacob and Edward - (the one who reads her thoughts, including the traumatic ones) in Breaking Dawn as a weapon against women who deviate from men's ideas. Really, killing or judging the perpetrators of violence will never heal the rape, especially when the environment imposes on them how they should behave properly or that they should not be so "beautiful", try asking them.
Two-thirds of the way through the audio book at 2x speed and I totally agree. This is a stupid book and a complete waste of time. As the author stated in an interview, it’s a (tiresome) exploration of the madonna/whore complex, sometimes literally as in the whole aside about Mary. The only funny-ish bits were Margo’s Pokémon dick reviews. Thanks for confirming it’s not worth finishing.
It’s great seeing boxes with books with POCs authors in there boxes
Also do you like sci-fi thrillers and if so any recommendations
I haven't read any sci-fi thrillers recently, but I do have Wrong Place Wrong Time on my TBR, as well as The Three-Body Problem. My husband really enjoyed Dark Matter's sci-fi elements.
Also what book that an author made where you read the first of there books and the. The second and you’ve seen the most improve. What I ,Sam is a authors sophomore book being way better then the first
An author that comes to mind is Freida McFadden, but I've read her in reverse. I read her more recent work first, that was traditionally published, and enjoyed it and tried some of her other titles from early in her career and can definitely see how she's grown as a writer.
I love an author that can win people back after a bad book I love to see it
They did include a notebook like that in a previous box! I liked it because of the wide lines for writing.
Glad to have someone corroborate it! I love getting notebooks as I hoard those like people were hoarding toilet paper during the pandemic! But I did get the email that it was an oops and it should have been stickers!
I subscribe for about five or six months, went away, and then came back and subscribed again, hoping they were better, but I was always disappointed with the book, when you compare it to the books in say Owlcrate or Fairyloot, it doesn’t rate, I think I stayed for another six months before leaving again. I’d be happier if they didn’t provide a book and did an extra writers item.
Thank you for this helpful review. I especially appreciate you sharing the small details that have changed regarding customer svc etc.
Used to get scribbler but I never got a single book I wanted to read, to writing things and stack was good, but the book was always a fail for me.
I think the books are hit or miss for me. I do like that they vary the genre so it's not the same thing month after month, but I do see this box declining in quality a bit. Which is a real shame because it has a good community. How long were you a subscriber?
Also I’m curious about the charmed and you timeline so you watched every eps from the series as they were airing and this was like teenage you and how many times have you watched the series
The show began airing when I was 10! It might not have been until the second or third season when I watched it when it aired. I know for sure I was tuning in each week during season 3 because I remember Prue's death vividly and wondering what was going to happen. I've probably watched seasons 1-5 at least seven or eight times. I've seen season 6 twice, as it does have some good episodes. I just don't have that season downloaded like I do the others. I wouldn't mind it in my rotation, but I'm also not going to go out of my way to buy it. I watched season 7 once, and I checked out the first few episodes of 8 and noped right out of that.
Honestly in her defense most characters go down hill once they reach a 8th season cause the show runners run out of ideals
🤣
It’s hard to mess up the seeming of a sanitarium it’s like a pizza
Also I’m sorry for judging you on watching a spoiled video on smile 2 instead of watching it
😂 that's totally okay!
Also do you like Shirley Jackson
Happy anniversary does he or she read thrillers also
Thank you! No, he's more into sci-fi or non-fiction books!
I can tell you don't have a baby
You are correct, I do not have a baby.
Please where can I find pdfs novels free? Like one by one Roth Fantastic land, mike
Omg I thought this was a review of a haunting on hill house I was like how is she giving t 2 stars
Haha, no, never! That was fantastic! That's a show I so wish I could watch for the first time again.
@@sarcasticstephaniereadswrites Its based off a book
Also have you watched smile 2 yet
I haven't but I did watch Amanda the Jedi's breakdown of it. Did you go see it?
@@sarcasticstephaniereadswrites she’s an amazing UA-camr wow you spoiled yourself with movies without watching
What’s your opinion on murder mystery podcasts
Tbh I don't listen to that many podcasts, but I do watch some true crime here on UA-cam. I really enjoy Just Thought Lounge's videos and Reporting Live From My Sofa!
Also have you ever read the perfect ruin
I have not, but looking it up on Goodreads it sounds quite good! Did you read it?
Omg I’ve been wanting you to review the eyes are the best part I hope we get a review as soon as you get the chance
That evil hand was awesome looking
Thank you! Somebody with an honest review! After hearing so many five star reviews I got this book and was so excited to read it. It ended up taking me about four tries to finish it. Awful. I like Will Dean but this wasn’t it. I gave it ⭐️. If I could’ve given it less I would’ve. 🤦🏿♂️
Great video!
Clippie! Yes!
Darley coats VS Riley sugar
Honestly, Riley Sager. I think he's a talented writer but his endings infuriate me. If he would just lean into a supernatural ending, I think his books would be a million times better. But I tend to enjoy reading his stuff until about the 85% mark. I also don't think he write female main characters well. But he is talented and creative, he just needs to work on his endings.
I love the bookmarks that Scribbler puts in their boxes! I still use mine from previous boxes. They had a set once with quotes on the bookmarks from famous authors.
I think I have that set on my shelves too! Between all the book boxes I get I could probably wallpaper my entire office with the bookmarks I've received over the years 😂
There's this horror book I'm reading it's called the eyes are the best part have you read it I really enjoying It
Ha, funny you should mention that! I just got that in one of my other book box subscriptions! Haven't started it yet though but happy to hear you're enjoying it. I've heard good things about it!
Finally someone else that caught the Morse code 🙌 👏
👍🏾👍🏾🫶🏽
Thank God I'm not a writer
Also it sounds like a lot of filler and the thing is I'm a basic batch I read fantasy sci-fi and thrillers to read about outlandish crazy things
I love your Ghostface fashion whats your ranking of the franchise
Thanks! I saw it at Spirit Halloween and immediately added it to my cart! Original Scream is obviously number 1! Then I think I like Scream 3 next because it pokes fun at itself and is so campy. Then I'd say 2, Scream (2022), and Scream VI. I've never watched 4 surprisingly! What about you?
Have you ever read the book Razorblade tears
I have not! Is it about witches?
@@sarcasticstephaniereadswrites I haven't read it yet just recommended it
There's this thrillers movi based on a book called conclave have you heard of it
Oh my God, thank you! so far you’ve been the only honest review I’ve seen. I could not stand Caz I found her to be annoying and insufferable I personally liked Mr. Smith more than her. He was just brutally honest I kinda wish we were being told the story from his perspective instead of Caz. I also wish that they didn’t go the whole game show route and would’ve just stuck to a red room scenario and have her be eaten by sharks at the end lol I hate the book and will never read it again.
Haha, glad to be of service in sharing an honest review! I just wish Caz had more personality beyond, "My dad was a bad man!" And?!?! Why else should I want you to survive this Ship O' Death? I truly would have preferred supernatural elements to be involved or for this to be an elaborate revenge plot by the people her dad ripped off. Or like you said, commit to the red room scenario. That would have worked and added some stakes as there is no safety net of the stupid actors and crew. I suspend disbelief for thrillers but it still needs to be plausible.
Your comment about how Phoebe almost died because of her past life being vanquished and her then being all okay with Chris not being born, ever, is so on point, it really seems like people behind the production were heading in the wrong direction with her character - Alyssa is probably the worst offender here - she became a perfect human, also by season eight she became sort of a know-it-all character and I really disliked that about her
So true! Phoebe could do no wrong ever even though she constantly made poor choices or did terrible things. I loved when they explored her storylines of her being more drawn to the dark side of magic and showing her having to make sacrifices and hard choices to stay good. And you're right, by the end she knows everything, is right about everything, and everyone else is lucky she graces them with her presence.
@@sarcasticstephaniereadswrites I feel like they could've utilized her fear of becoming bad a little more down the line, season five was the last time we properly saw her worry about it and they could've made that fear a part of like the final arc of the show, the Jenkins sisters could've easily mess up with her head if her fear was still prevalent
@@wikstr18 ooooh that would have been such a good storyline!
I think HMC becoming executive producer at the start of season 5 really hurt the characterization of Piper. Holly injected a lot of herself into Piper. Problem is, Holly and Piper are completely different. The same can be said for Phoebe and Alyssa.
I'm sure Holly is great, but I agree. Rewatching season 1 is so weird because of Piper. She has a bit of a sassy side but it only comes out when she's really stressed or frustrated. Watching her try to be forward with Leo and ask him out was so cute because you could tell it was out of her comfort zone and she wasn't used to being aggressive or assertive. Season 4 Piper isn't one bit worried about accidentally blowing up dozens of innocents and it only gets worse in season 5 and on.
Always love to see what’s inside!! Thanks for sharing ❤
Also can I make a birthday requested video could you do a five star reads tier list
I could probably do a tier list! I'll have to comb through my reading lists to pull titles and reviews together.
@@sarcasticstephaniereadswritesits up to you at the end of the day
I hope you do a buffy the vampire character analysis next
I'd have to watch it all first 🤣 I've only seen season 1! I know the gist of the show and storylines, but I remember seeing a clip of Dark Willow that really freaked me out haha. But I do want to give the show another go. I've watched Charmed and Supernatural 900 times, but have yet to get through all of Buffy. What's your favorite season?
I think that's the most shocking thing I've heard in a while I'm extremely shocked you've never seen buffy that show seems like it would be right up you alley
Also do you like the twilight zone
Funnily enough, I think I've seen like one or two episodes 😅 I didn't really get into spooky stuff until I was a young adult. As a kid I was wayyyyyy too much of a scaredy cat
@@sarcasticstephaniereadswrites what horror of thriller shows do you like
Am I the only person who is a sucker for ha you like these two movies well imagine them combined in a book honestly that always sells me on a book also what does it feel more like get out or parasite
You're not the only one! I like that it helps me get the vibes before even reading the book, or keeps me guessing as to what the twists could be based on the references. I think it skewed more Get Out, but I definitely see the comparisons to Parasite. I'd say the first 70% is Get Out, the last 30% is Parasite haha
I agree. I struggled SO much to get through it, I gave up. Gobsmakingly boring!!!!
Such a shame because it had so much potential!
I appreciate your videos I’m looking for five star thrillers for fall if you have any let me know also at least you got this review up on September for thematically reason
I've got a few spooky recommendations that might slant a bit more horror or mystery, but still good reads! I really enjoyed When The Night Bells Ring by Jo Kaplan. It's set in a semi-dystopian future where the US is practically a wasteland and the main characters come across this Old West town and things might not be what they seem. If you want a bit of fantasy and spooky lite, I'd say The Bone Maker by Sarah Beth Durst. It has magic, romance, and heroes having to rise to the challenge again. I think the setting was ideal for a fall read! The Night Sister by Jennifer McMahon was also ideal for fall with it being about monsters. Plus, I think McMahon is amazing at creating atmosphere and making her settings feel so real. My Dearest Darkest by Kayla Cottingham was a good paranormal YA book. Kind of The Craft x Wednesday as it takes place at an Academy. And I'd be remiss not to mention The Sun Down Motel by Simone St. James which is about a haunted hotel - you can't go wrong with that for fall!
That's a great box! The mug is so pretty and perfect for autumn!
