Wrecked Golf to Junkyard Jolf - Rebuild Time Lapse
Переглядів 3133 роки тому
Acquired this wrecked 2001 VW Golf that was told had an estimated $9000 in damage. This video shows me rebuilding the car with nothing more than $300 worth of junkyard parts. And yes, I rebuilt the car with a Jetta front end.
VW MKIV Golf Home Brew 2 Inch Lift Kit
Переглядів 20 тис.3 роки тому
Installing a home brew lift kit on my 02' VW Golf TDI consisting of different springs from other VWs and some parts from the hardware store. Even though I ended up replacing all of the strut assembly in this video, the only parts necessary to achieve this lift are just the springs and the 3/4" black pipe coupling, making this a very affordable lift kit. How To Replace Jeep Cherokee Power Steering Pump
I really like lifted passinger cars, it really makes the car stand out from all the lowered ricers. Looking to do the same thing with my mk 3 golf, probably gonna use some spacers but the main issue is that the larger tires would interfere with the front struts.
He can't drive and his motor nor steering gear sounds good
Impresionante 👏
I'd stick to the that hill over there. Probability to hold water is far less then the valley :)
Hell yes
Awesome instructional video, plus I felt like I was watching a Clutch music video in parts so that was even better hahaha
What tablet holder is that??
my 2007 caddy 1.9 tdi is goona love this in 2025
😆1700 times buddy!
What a great video, thanks for making it. We just bought a Mk4 Jetta wagon that has been lowered and we are going to put it to stock height or maybe a couple inches of lift but your video was very educational and actually my wife (the Jetta wagon is for her) really likes the look of your car with the lift and bigger tires so maybe we end up going that route. I don't suppose one can find differently geared transaxles for these Mk4 Golfs and Jettas, or did they have a stump puller gearing option from the factory (or aftermarket ring and pinions available)? Thanks again for doing the R&D on this and sharing your results!!!
Great video.
Next up: bear party!
hello, what size tires do you have?
I want to go this to my 2005 golf, I have some washed out roads where I live and I can get through it but very carefully, if I lifted 2in and added 27in tires I’d sit 3 inches higher
Great video! Doing this now haha one tip tho, I would get a breaker bar tho I wouldn’t use a torque wrench
If you’re doing this job I recommend draining the oil and removing the oil filter. Otherwise you will waste time trying to get at the clamps. My F250 2004 didn’t have any special clamps. But it’s a very tight fit at the connections to the transmission. And release the plastic clip at the fan shroud before you break it and remove it entirely, while working, it’s 20 years old and you will break it. If you don’t you can reuse it.
I did not remove the fender: I left the bolts behind the door in place, and had a friend gently pull back the fender (hinging it outward) enough to slide the battery out. Those door area bolts are a nightmare and you will misalign the fender.
thanks for the video. ran into so many issues as you explained as I purchased all the parts before you posted this video.
is it still alive?
beauuuutiful content! ❤
What springs would be compatible I have a 2017 mk7 GTI that I wanna do this to
He do be making fire good, yes!
Instead of beating and ruining an extension all really had to do is turn the wheel, jack car up a little and wack the side of ball joint with hammer few good times it will pop loose and not hurt anything. Or do what other comment said and take the three ball joint bolts out and slide out. Instead of making the job harder than needed.
What is the tire size
Thats fucking cool.
Are there cows in the forest of corral hollow
I’m hoping my outback will make it through. I have a small lift and larger Falken wildpeak AT3 on it.
2" works really well on the MK4
Just fyi there are original VW aluminum 3/4" spacers for the front struts. I bought them online. Can't remember the p/n. But you can find it in Etka. They're used in some world markets were road conditions merit them. They've slightly curved top and bottom faces to mate better. Great work 🎉
👍
Where did you get the bumper guard? And know if that’s legal in Germany by any chance?
I don't know where he got it, but definitely illegal in Germany. Stichwort Fußgängerschutz.
ua-cam.com/video/qq5fbp3OhiM/v-deo.html another video of his shows this here
tire dimensions?
Cant get the bolts back in ffs, only 1 will go in
You can get 4motion (haldex gen 1 and also you can have a tune-box to have 50/50 on Front/Rear power) in Europe for like 3000$-5000$ 2.8 VR6 4motion - i don't know about the shippment costs but if people from poland are importing cars from USA/Japan/ESA then it might be worth it. I bought mine vr6 4motion for 2K 3 years ago - still beating it every single day - 350.000 km, this thing is amazing - in snow it handles perfectly.
A year would help as they aren't the same
He says it's a 97 at the end of the video.
We've been camping in the basin by the second cabin for years, where the trail closes for vehicles past the creek there's a walking/biking trail with a beautiful view I would recommend it
Great video wish we had more wagons in South Africa. Did you have any problems with CV axle wearing out faster than normal and shortener brakelines?
can you confirm if that was the issue for the oil pooling there? great video btw thanks for the info
А ты хорош чувак))
Que hermoso no hay como las cherokee que respeten los Toyo bobos😅 jajaja
Thanks for a great vid man.
I have a 2000 vw jetta and i want to do this, so i was wondering if you had any camber issues on it? Thats really the only thing i worry about on my car. Because i dont want to be buying new tires every 15k miles
And I was wondering if you also had some cv axle issues on it
There's some camber on the front wheels, but it's hardly noticeable and while I don't put a lot of miles on this thing, i havent noticed any abnormal side wear in the approx 5000 miles I've put on it since the lift. Same goes with cv axles. I replaced the passenger one a few years before the lift and it's still going strong. I did have to replace the driver one not too long ago, but it was the original with over 250k miles on it so it was over due. Long story short, I can't say weather prolonged driving such as using it as a daily is going to cause premature wear of tires and components, but just using it for certain trips and only putting a few thousand miles a year on it seems to be working just fine for me.
@@KlaptOutOffroadI’m wondering if your method would work on my 2013
@johnsprague3521 I'm sure a similar setup can be applied, but I wouldn't know if these springs would work. Funny thing is I have a 2015 which should be more similar with your '13 than my MK4, but I've never once bothered to look to see how the suspension is set up in it (it's just my boring daily)
You can actually get 4wd golf's. The v6 4motion and r32 are both 4wd and come with a better naturally aspirated engine that you can slap a big old turbo on and get stupid bhp and torque. Just think about then adding the lift kit and springs with the big tyres your going to have an insane iff road golf
Im a late bloomer with cars (started driving at 32) and now Im already my first project car which is a VW. leaning more towards 4x4 this vid has taught me LOADS. thanks!
Very good video, thank you!
The algorithm is picking it up
Me: 95 2dr XJ stock, and a jacked up 97 Sahara Wrangler, both 4.0 tough as nails beasts. DO NOT UNDERESTIMATE what this truck is capable of with MINOR adjustments. You’ve got a nice rig there dude, fix it up! Get some clearance, lift, MTs, a couple of things, that beast is still raring to go! Wise investment! 😎
Best vid on yt
Was that your stock tire size? I believe my wheel is a 17”
I’m hoping to find the coils used. Are they the front or back off the two jeeps?
He showed both springs with part numbers on rock auto. 0:50
