7.5” Pocket Blackjack by Mike K. Review
Here I’m reviewing a snappy spring core Blackjack made by artisan Mike Kondratko! Amazing leatherwork covers a spring frame with a cast lead head. This gorgeous two tone leather is tight without being “creaky” and stiff enough for that signature blackjack “snap” when wielded. The length from the tip to the butt end is around 7.5” and the overall weight is 10oz, and perfectly balanced for a smaller blackjack!

“894” Style Blackjack From Mike K, review
Переглядів 1,2 тис.2 роки тому
Here I’m reviewing a blackjack, and it’s been quite a while since we’ve seen one here, but like my others, this one’s a GOOD one, from the amazing new maker, Mike Kondratko! This lovely homage to the leatherworkers art is ~9” in length, and weighs a solid 12oz overall, and has a LOOSE cable core that allows for serious haymakers when used in its intended purpose! Reviewing gear is easy when you...
Shop Number 7, “Junior” Sap review
Переглядів 1,2 тис.2 роки тому
Here I’m reviewing a new piece from Robert at Shop #7 Leather!! This slammer is around 13.6oz and measures at 8.5” which means it’s a perfect pocket hammer! His excellent leatherwork shown here is perfectly translated into the saps he makes, and I think this particular model is a showstopper in terms of not just it’s looks, but it’s capability as an emergency defensive tool! Tell him I sent ya,...

Here I review and give some thoughts on the Single Finger Knucks from ECK (East Coast Knuckles). These are done in a fine, solid brass, made in the US, and are hefty for their size!
Two-Fingered Lincoln Knucks from East Coast Knuckles, USA made, solid brass!
Переглядів 5 тис.4 роки тому
Today we take a quick look at ECK’s 2 finger knuckleduster! These babies are 4.7oz of solid brass, and at 7/16” thick, they’re rather substantial for a compact duster! These are made in the USA, and have a darkened finish that slowly wears well with pocket carry. These are done in the classic Lincoln style, meaning they’re straightforward, but very efficient. I’ve talked to ECK about the somewh...

Foster Impact Devices “Bookmark” review
Переглядів 1,5 тис.4 роки тому
Here I review the excellent custom piece from Todd Foster from my dads collection, a fully functional book weight that is so much more than it seems... 10.12” long and weighing in at 13oz, it’s more than a match for any unruly book, or rebellious manual... Thick cookbooks bow to its will, and offer small resistance... Thanks for watching! Enjoy!

Fosters Impact Devices Snap Hook Sap/Slungshot Review part 1

Reviewed here in this video is the vintage, and somewhat damaged (via a flood) Snap Hook Sap made by Todd Foster several years ago. I recently acquired this from the former owner, as he generously sent it to me to see if it could be brought back to life. I’ll be sending this old warrior to Todd (the maker) for some refurbishing, to see the “after”, which I’m positive will be indeed impressive! ...
Foster Impact Devices Bootlegger Blackjack Review
Переглядів 2,8 тис.4 роки тому
Here I review the 8” long 12oz weighted Blackjack made by Scott Foster of Foster Impact Devices!! An amazing piece that I’m thrilled to own! This guy is a close (fully functional) replica of the Blackjack used by the villain in Legend of the Falls on Brad Pitt’s character. Just like the fully functional props on Boardwalk Empire, this baby would bust something up!! Hope the vid is informative a...

Shop #7 Leather Worx-Impact, JT-1 Review/Initial Impressions
Beautiful little slapper. Love to have one like that.
The only real reason I would use such tools, would be to prevent myself from employing lethal force in self defense situations. I think these things are very practical as a fight stopper, used with proper discretion and in deference of life in particular.
I would like to purchase two of these paper weights
Buddy you need to use one in real life before you make the statements you make unless you are trying to sell these.
Typical amatuer-made. No correct configurations. They look like they should be hanging as decorations in the many shop stalls on the Mexico side.
How can u buy one?
Dude, you criticize the loop strap when there are not one, but TWO other models of the BL "Denver" sap (5412, and 5417) that HAVE a wrist strap. If you don't like the "loop" strap, get one of the other models. While illegal in some states, they're also legal in several states. Depends where you are.
wish they put sand inside instead of lead
Need info to buy on eBay , please .
Were it a weapon it wouldn't be wrapped in leather.
That needs a 'Clip' for y'all to make sense... ~Or shall We take a walk??? _So now..._ ua-cam.com/video/HtRGeyznv7k/v-deo.html

That standard issue Rev is nice... its only draw back that it requires too much deliberation. But its just sooo comfy!!! We even prefer it to the Skeletool. Sorta... *(We think?)* ~They're both just so lovely.
Is Robert still in business?
Can you tell me how to get one from Mike in Kentucky.
Quick update/warning: do not go to the website mentioned in the description. It redirects several times to some malicious spam site.
I’m going to make one of these with 2 ends, for ‘carrying my keys’ 😉
I would also love to know what they use underneath the leather below the weighted end to give the gradual shape narrowing of the blackjack? That’s obviously not just cable underneath there. ?
Most of the black jack makers that I know of are very tight-lipped about their specific techniques, tools and processes. They seem to see their work as special and unique from other makers, and that is reflected in the secrecy with which they do their work. Scott Foster is currently one of if not the best blackjack maker anywhere. A potential downside to that is that his are also the most sought after and expensive to buy. I used to be a moderator in their Facebook group, and anytime he or Todd made anything, there were an average of 15 to 30 gentlemen with fully loaded PayPal accounts clamoring to buy something. The last year and a half, I have been going back to school to finish some academic degrees. As a result of having less time, I don’t interact with a lot of my social media friends that are into blackjacks and saps anymore. Also hard for me to justify a hobby where each piece costs what a very well-made tactical folding knife costs. The average cost when I got into them was around $75ish… now it’s in excess of $150 for a sap or blackjack from them. Think of your favorite most highly regarded production, knife maker, Spyderco, Benchmade, or Zero Tolerance. They are almost as much collectors pieces as they are users. The boutique saps and blackjacks of the last 10 or so years have a similar ethos to them.
I have looked high and low to find a video on UA-cam of someone making one of these, and none exists. I would love to know how to do the full leather braid over the whole of the weighted end, it’s just amazing. I can make stuff from leather, Saps etc, but I can’t make one of these because there’s simply NO video of anyone actually making one.
I’m making my first blackjack right now. Learning to do the leather knots around the head and the strap fixing is the hardest part!
Witch doctor makes such beautifil pieces. It’s not easy to make a good quality Sap. I know, I’ve made a few. And blackjacks? Forget it. The skills needed for the leather braiding are hard to learn.
What do you have against midgets ?
Show it in action. Weak video
I made my own sap. I used bb’s for weight. I am 70 and a 20 something tried to rob me. One strike to the ribs and one to the side of the neck. Oh my, this thing works. This guy had two cracked ribs and a severe deep bruise on his neck. I do have a concealed carry weapon but unless they pull a gun on me I will use my sap. The police did take my sap away from me so when I got home I made another one in about an hour.
Excellent video! Thanks!
That one is really malicious hardware!
I would like to see a video on how things like this are made.
I thought UA-cam would have at least 1 video of someone making a blackjack, but no. Nothing.
Don't you think a padlock would be more effective than that snaphook?
You definitely want something that can be touted as a "keychain" in a non-permissive environment. Perhaps a heavy carabineer or some weighty trinkets attached to the snap hook should do
Very informative video! Thanks!
I used to see these portrayed in cartoons and comic books all the time when I was a kid in the 1960s, but I didn't really understand what they were, since I had never seen one in real life.
Very interesting video! Thanks!
I am a leathercrafter and your channel has given me direction in making my own saps. I don’t sell them but I make for my own carry. I had to use one of my saps when I was attacked in a parking lot. I am 71 and my attacker was 20 something. Two strikes and he was down for two or three minutes and didn’t get up because I told him I would hit him again if he moved. I was surprised at the power my sap had and I used bb’s for the weight. I did go to jail overnight but the judge set my bail at $1.00 and my wife paid my bail the next day. I think they let me out because I was carrying a 9mm also, I could have ended this guy but I didn’t. I have a CCW license, I got my pistol back but they kept my sap. I made a coin purse in a couple of hours and I carry that now. I found out later that my attacker had two fractured ribs and severe deep bruise on the side of his neck. These saps and blackjacks are no joke. I thank god I had my sap because I would have killed him otherwise.
The one with the tip on it should have more "meat" on the back like the regular one for more bracing but I still think they're cool
Vell done !! ✌
I prefer the 8.25 Junior rather than the midget. You get a bit more bounce back and striking surface on larger one but still very portable
I like the Boston Jr, perfect
How much do they cost in France?
They're about 10€
egreed. excellent knife.
Oeh..that's a beautiful one!
ser can i buy this blackjack? i want to make buy this weapon im from georgia tbilisi. please i need this weapon
Personally I prefer spung sap for versatile
I agree. I make my own saps and use a 5” door spring in the handle. The first sap I made was just leather with lead weight in the head. In practice I struck the dummy and it came around and got me on the back of the hand. Lucky it didn’t break bones.
@@markmeador1137 I like it if it’s whipy. It’s Easier on the wrist
Nice blackjack and review👍 Something else, I wear a handmade "Bootlegger" Aero Leather Jacket. Worth carrying too😊
Some are art and functional. Some are functional. $$ verse’s $ 😊 The chin doesn’t know.😅
Personally I don’t care if it’s fancy. I only care if it gets the job done. I had to sell my expensive saps because I was strapped for cash. Now I just settled with a Boston leather Denver sap the 4 ply one
Do you have any experience with DD Whips? I was looking at their blackjacks, and they look nice, but then I saw a video saying they were poor quality so now I'm not sure.
I'd rather be judged by 12 than carried by 6.
They're not highly illegal. I live in a constitutional carry state and carry these.
If you try it in a blue state… You’ll regret being caught with them. Look at when this video was made. It’s a snapshot in time. It’s silly to look at a video that was made over 4yrs ago and call it bunk. Texas legalized the ownership and carry of these things since I made the video… Granted they’re legal in places like Arizona, and have been for long time, they’re still verboten in most localities in the states. A lot of your experience with law enforcement will depend on the day your particular officer is having, even in the best/most free of states.
But that's communist states. Most states are not that dumb. I just personally hate how these things are demonized and fear mongered by UA-camrs. Same as the dipshits who say you have to be highly trained to own a gun. I've owned these since I was a kid along with stiletto switchblades.
I disagree. These were never marketed as weapons. They just got that wrap cause crybaby leftists made them look like that.
The Constitution is my only reason for owning one of these. I have a right to defend myself.
Exactly!
Also, do you have a link to his website?
These are legal in several states, so they're not as Illegal as you claim.
you do fidget a lot to make it annoying
In my defense, it’s difficult to review something you don’t really like.
