By any chance was this also inspired by something from The Carol Burnett Show as well?

I don't know how many children improved their reading skills because of LOC, but it was a lot of fun!

What season of _The Electric Company_ is this from? Because I watched it all the time as a wee tot and I'm pretty sure I never saw any of these. By the time I was watching it, though, it was already in reruns, for which I think they only ever aired episodes from the last season or two ('76-'77).

0:57 Morgan Freeman, _The Electric Company_ cast member. That sheer randomness must have been inspired by Monty Python's Flying CIrcus.

Somebody wrote a blatant personal-reminiscence Wikipedia entry on this one recurring sketch. It's pretty priceless. BTW, the "Naomi" in question is Naomi Gyllenhaal (yes, Jake and Maggie's Mom), who worked on the show ("The Electric Company," in case anyone doesn't know) at the time.

I started watching The Electric Company in 1973. I was 3 years old, and I really picked up literacy from that, before I started school. I did not see "Love Of Chair" until I got the DVD set, so I get the impression that it was phased out. I know that it was found from testing with kids that they picked up the text better at the top of the screen than the bottom, so perhaps they decided not to keep Love of Chair because of the position of the text falling out of favor.

In a Sociology lecture right now and the lecturer was talking about stuff he used to do when he was a kid. Said they used to watch "Love of Chair." He then proceeded to recite this episode almost verbatim. I'm glad there's a copy on UA-cam cause we all had no clue what he was talking about.
