Those are the exact reasons why upgrading Association is good, and also the reasons why it can wait until later. 2 money for a donation is good value, but 5,7,10 get very expensive and you don't have the money available early in the game for multiple donations (donating too much is a beginner mistake, because it hurts your appeal and future income as a result). Double actions are also efficient, but with your first upgrade it's very unlikely you will have multiple workers, or even enough x-tokens to make use of this ability. The meta has also changed a little since this video came out. Now we're seeing both Sponsors and Assoc get upgraded more often, while Build and Cards are getting upgraded less often. It's probably time for an update! And finally player count will also matter. Assoc is a much better upgrade in 4p games. With breaks more often you will have more money, which means you can afford to get those cheap donations and help you win the race to 5 and 8 CP rewards.

I haven't watched the game, but just looking at it it seems pretty clear: Llama was in reputation range so building on the bonus tile could fetch it. Meanwhile, Koala wasn't, requiring the cards action. Plus, an extra enclosure is always handy

Generally when something is in reputation range it's preferable to draw it up / play it from range rather than snapping it. Save your Cards action to draw from the deck or snap a more important card (Koala in this case). I joke about it a bit, but drawing from the deck is legitimately good. Snapping mediocre cards is often not a winning game plan. If Llama was out of rep range then in this scenario it is good enough to snap up, though. At the time I also wasn't 100% sure I wanted to do a Cards action, because I wanted a longer round to be able to use both my workers. Already Jumping 2 with the Ibex means they can just break 5 without even needing to do Cards themself. And finally the extra enclosure was handy to have. It would have been perfect for the Rhea, which I planned on playing, but the Wallaby showed up instead.

I think most people would agree. I understand why it's 4p for logistical reasons, fewer games required to sort out the initial 100-200 participants. The best players will usually make it through anyway

With the 2 base appeal for Komodo dragon it can max out at 10 total.

komodo gives 2 tickets plus the iconic 8 tickets so ten total at max

Yeah, I am really enjoying this style of play. Being able to upgrade Sponsors and Assoc feels good, and I'm learning to live without Build and Cards upgrades. Then the extra worker puts so much pressure on the opponent to break if they don't match you with an extra worker too.

I am sure I also had ample opportunities to put one of my 2-sizes there :P But it's not worth any points because I have a group of 6 uncovered spaces there for a Native Farm end game shield (which is why I never bothered placing there)

Yeah a few people commented at the beginning, which is super weird because I didn't change any settings. I did fix it up during the stream, hopefully for games 3 and 4 it's gone.

It's a good question. In other circumstances it could be a great move. So Geologist by itself is worth 14 points. But there are not enough x-tokens to play the Adventure Playground as well, so it's minus 6 points (we still play Guided School Tours which is a 7 point card). It's a net 8-point move. That's the same as filling map. But it runs into the same problems as delaying the turn by filling map. The Cobra is open for the opponent, and it gives them time to potentially play animals and do another project. Any project they do will presumably be worth more than 8 points. So I think we do want to end immediately anyway. In a different scenario where filling map is good, then snapping Geologist would be a perfect 2nd delaying action for even more points.

I like both games a lot. Cascadia has a higher skill ceiling IMO. The pinecones give you some agency when drafting, whereas in Harmonies you are stuck with 1 of the 5 trays as your choice.
