    15 year grinder here, though mostly tournaments. I know it sucks if you are break even, but if you are making money, that's what matters at the end of the day. Money earned through rakeback is still money and what matters is effective win rate. These days i am grinding pokerstars zoom and I d be happy if I were able to get break even at 200NL and just get the rakeback. Tough game though. What's the discrepancy between your all in EV/100 and your actual EV/100? It seems huge to me over a large sample size. Is your standard dev more than 100BB? Good luck.

    Thanks for the video. If the orange line is the ev I don't think that doubling your hand volume is your best way to go in order to create max. $ in 2025 Maybe try to analyse what your sweet spot is regarding number of tables/hands per hour compared to winrate in order to find the best hourly. And if you want to treat it like a job, it might be worth looking outside the box regarding your playing times, poker sites, stakes, table selection, poker days/theory days and holiday selection. The things you used to do don't seem to work that well anymore. So, it is probably time to change. Good luck

      @@phrog6073 He made 21k from rakeback in 350k hands. That is not bad at all of course. If we assume 750k hands in a year again at 0 ev-bb/100 he makes 45k over a year (all of it rakeback). That is 60$/h if he averages 1000 hands/h and plays 750 hours. That definitely is good money, but probably not what he is looking for. In the green graph at 13:38 we can see that he won ~6200bb which equals around 14,8k. So, his avg bb is ~2,4$. If f.e. he managed to focus better by playing let us say two thirds of the tables at once (so, now only 500k a year), but reaches 2bb/100 before rb as he assumed he makes 500k*2/100*2,4$=24000$ in winnings and 45000*2/3=30000$ in rb. That would put the hourly to 54000/750=72$ already. This is just an example, of course. Who knows if he was winning 2bb/100 pre rb by sacrificing a third of the volume. But, it is important to try and optimise those things. Otherwise, you do the same things you are comfortable with and get the same results. And again, 45k is not bad at all, but it doesn't seem to be enough for him

    • @christianschneider1499
      @christianschneider1499 Місяць тому

      @HighEloPoker That is true. It isn't necessarily easy. And, the mind plays this trick on us. But, we also know that there is a too much, f.e. 10 tables fastfold, and that there is a too little, f.e. 1 regular table. Finding the best spot is a key part. If you want to treat it just like a job don't change anything and earn 60$/h. Nothing wrong with that. If you want to treat it like a business, and make it the most profitable, optimise it

    Like other people have said, expecting to play 8 hours/day, 5 days per week is not reasonable imo. I think this is a lot even for people who can maintain high quality attention for long periods of time. Also, will you not take any intentional breaks? Vacation time? Emergency time off? I think having goals in mind with a little bit of buffer is more fair to yourself. Best luck to you.

      Its 6 hrs a day not 8 but yeah i get your point....as for taking vacation time off i dont see a problem in playing mornings and then going to the beach afternoon to evening i imagine my summer going something like that.The reason i waste so many hrs doing stupid stuff is because i have tons of free time availible,so taking even more full days off from poker i would probably be bored as hell to be honest with u lol.

    My pimative results orientated brain loves to see these videos haha. 6hours of 4 table zoom would be harder than many many 8 hour 9-5 jobs in terms of energy and focus required in my opinion, especially having to deviate so much, but you're the man for the job no doubt. Just a couple of questions: 1) last year you were saying about maybe only 2 tabling due to red line suffering a bit. Do you think you volume of 4 tabling zoom is more EV than 2 tabling and being able to focus on spots more? 2) you have a great schedule! But do you think you lose out on much EV by not playing weekends or evening when the pool might have more fish? Or do you feel the GG pool is soft enough overall that it doesn't matter either way? Good luck in the coming year!

    • @HighEloPoker
      @HighEloPoker Місяць тому

      Yeah the less tables the play,the more u can focus.On 1 hand your winrate is higher but on 2nd hand your volume is lower.....gotta find the right spot in between.My redline was suffering definately i missed a bunch of easier spots playing more tables,but also i wasnt really that studied at that time in some spots for example turn or river XR so i was definately too passive which makes redline go down obviously.And for the 2nd question yeah i lose some EV sure....ive seen bunch of graphs where people show time of the day winrate and evenings were the best.But honestly i personally didnt feel the difference,for what its worth i think i played worse i was often tired sleepy,or had more distractions in my house compared to mornings when i wake up fresh, no distractions,i can sit down and play well.

    Good results mate you've been very unlucky to not get a full bad beat in that sample size I've had 2 full bad beats and 5 bad beats just sitting at a table and my sample size is less than 100k hands i know I've ran above EV but in a 350k hand sample I would say mathematically you should expect atleast 2 full bad beats?

    • @jonathandesjardins1020
      @jonathandesjardins1020 Місяць тому

      I've read somewhere that people calculated it and the odds of getting a bad beat are 1 out of 100 000 hands, and since only 1 out of the 6 people at the table get the full bad beat, the odds of getting the full bad beat is 1 out of 600 000 hands ...

    Amazing vid. quick question - how much buyins you think you would lose if your mental game was the absolute best you instead of the 85? I'm curious about the answer cause for me it's so so connected, i truly believe that i would lose about at least half from how much i lost if i had the best mental game. I'm not talking about being on A game all the time, just have the best mental game you can archive. Happy new year, glgl

    Hey mate, this is such a good video! On the volume side, one thing I’d say is I don’t think you can compare it to a “normal” job because this game is so intensive. You can’t play 8 hours per day at 700-800 hands an hour because you’re just going to melt your brain. And the people that do actually achieve this are the outliers and not the norm. They’re also not who I’d personally aspire to be 😂 I think be a bit easier on yourself in this regard and enjoy where your hard work has gotten you! ♥️

    It's not just you, everyone is showing bad results. And there are more coaches in poker than ever before. Basically the games become unbeatable due to rake, then people become coaches and coach people in the game they can no longer beat. Then it's sort of like everyone sits around and rubs each others backs, "It's all good, bro, just a downswing. Study harder." GTO bots can't even beat the rake on 200zoom, the skill is too high relative to rake.

    • @HighEloPoker
      @HighEloPoker Місяць тому

      Rake is really high and games get tougher over years i agree,but if there is someone out there winning that proves its beatable u just have to be better at the game,just fax.Played bad, happens, we go again 👊.

      @@HighEloPoker Are you aware of winner bias? In short it's as follows - 100 players play poker. All are equal still, and do the exact things in every spot. 10 of these players show graphs with an ev line pointing towards the sky, and appear to be crushing the games. The rest of these players now look to the '10 crushers' as evidence that the games are beatable. But we know that all players in said example are all of equal skill, so obviously it's a case of run good. The bias being that the winners think they're great, and the losers thinking they need to do what the winners are doing, then they'll win. But we know that the losers are doing the exact same thing the winners are doing, just not running good. Anyway, I'm not saying the games are unbeatable, just pointing out the fallacy in 'if there is someone out there winning that proves its beatable'.

      @@jeegee-cx7ss Seing a great winning player is inspiring,atleast for me and i want to be like that player.I have infinite amount of leaks that needs fixing and thats why the journey of becoming better is motivating cuz u are also improving day in day out.Also i dont agree with all 10 people being equal in skill...poker maybe but theres a lot of life factors that affect how well u execute in game,the older i get the more i understand this my biggest life achieveing is probably being a winning player with a horrible mental game which again proves that games are beatable even if u are tilt lord like myself who spent 15 years of his life playing esport video games 10 hrs a day basically with non fixable mental game lmao.

      @@jeegee-cx7ss exactly, people still don't understand variance, even at 6-7bb/100 there is a massive difference between the luckiest and the unluckiest player over 1 mil hands. Rake being so high not that many people go to that winrate so if you say 2-3bb/100 then you can be truly fucked

    realy interesting is why u dont invest ur money in moving up in stakes and start playing regular tables, u will never win enough playing RNC200, this time u ran over ev by alot, it will get even at some point and u will not get over 2bb/100 winrate if u get even that playing bigger volume so yea all in all u will waste ur time. Nice video! I think that you are way too harsh on yourself when you said you 'only' played for 3.5 hours per day, then pointed out that most people work an average of 8 hours per day. Sure, the latter is true, but remember these people aren't spending literally every single second of that 8 hours working, being focused on making decisions that will win/lose them large amounts of money (like we do in poker). They have lunch breaks, they have coffee breaks, they chat with co workers, they are in meetings where they are listening to someone talk, they are calling clients etc. Maybe half of their day is spent doing work that requires a high degree of focus, and even then, most jobs do not require any real mental focus at all. I think you should compare playing poker to something like being an athlete instead of an average person working an 8 hour job. Most athletes, unless they are ultra marathon runners or something, will only train for 3-4 hours per day maximum. Anything more than this would lead to burn out and injuries. When you set your 1.5m hands goal for next year a part of be winced. That just sounds completely overwhelming. A big positive of being a poker professional is that we get a lot of freedom with our job, so forcing yourself to grind zoom for 6 hours per day, 5 days per week doesn't sound much better than working a regular job, if anything it sounds worse- cos we aren't getting any form of social connection while grinding and we are just staring at a screen for the entire time. Anyways I am not being negative, I think it's admirable that you would set such a goal, but I think it's kind of dangerous if we constantly need to better last years results- because then we will never be content unless we manage to achieve this goal. Your profit this year seems like a very nice return for your hard work, and you 'only' worked 3.5 hours per day- which stopped you from completely burning out and enabled you to do other, non poker related things away from the computer. Good luck in 2025, but I would urge you to stop comparing grinding poker online to working a regular job. This is much more mentally draining than the vast majority of jobs. We are essentially some form of 'athletes' instead of someone working in a store or something.

      Yeah it’s a lot of volume but I think it’s comparable to 1,5M zoom hands. I think you can start at 8am and get 6 tables of 500&1k at GG. But it’s up to you ofc. It is definitely way more convenient with r&c. It will also be interesting to follow and see what sort of results a reg of your caliber can produce
