- First, the following will not be hard and fast rules, but I'll try to stick with them as I go:
- I will try to minimize reloading and do my best to go with the dice. Reloading will generally be reserved for major incidents, game glitches/quirks and/or things like forgetting to prep something I had planned before hand (equipping an Item/prepping a spell). Eventually I intend to work up to Honor Mode, so I'll need to get used to this, since honor has 1 save.
- I will try to avoid major game glitches/exploits, though some minor ones I'll be ok with...especially quality of life ones. (QOL examples: Pickpocketing Withers to get class change cash back, or donating items to a vendor to up their affection for long term discounts.) Also, if the thing allows for some interesting story loopholes/changes. An example of things I won't do is going full murder hobo, just to get an item early.

- I've played several of the previous titles in the series and am somewhat familiar with the overall setting of Forgotten Realms.
- I've played this game previously, on my own time, but never finished Act 1. So once we're beyond that I'll be mostly in the dark, as I've avoided gameplay/story vids until now. I figured since I wanted to play this anyway and needed a new game in the schedule, it'd be a perfect fit.
[My D&D History]
- I've played D&D off an on since high school and am familiar with the 5e rules. As such, some of my gameplay decisions will be based on that knowledge.
- I've never played a Cleric in this time, but I am familiar with how good they can be in 5e.
[Character Notes]
- While I min/maxed in some areas, others were chosen with aesthetics and gameplay in mind.
- Stats/Spells: I chose the ones I did based on wanting my PC to still be the "face" of the party. Additionally, they were chosen with the understanding I'd be mostly a mid to back lines blaster and equipment/multi-classing/re-specs were available later.
- Multi-classing: I will be multiclassing both my PC and several of my companions. This will be to have them fit the roles I want/need in my party. For my PC I will maintain 8-10 levels in Cleric, with 2 levels of Wizard (Evocation) for utility and 2 as floaters to round off. For my companions, if I multi-class them, I will do so with their Origin class and another. Any changes I'll try to keep to their lore, where I can, and call it out in the Episode Notes when I do.

I used the YT editor to cut a bit from this episode, but for some reason it cut WAY more than I'd intended. Specifically about 10min from the beginning. I am reverting the video back to original upload to add that back in....hopefully.
Why keep adding more members to the party while never using some of those already in?
Basically its about story and wanting to include everyone I can. BG3 lets you ignore companions, but I want to recruit all of them. This way I can complete their stories, as they come up, and get more lore out of it. While I have a set team, the others at camp are still included in my plan for the run. An example is Astorian. He is a companion I recruit early on, but don't use in my normal team. However he has had steady moments throughout that progress his personal story and its all coming to a head. Now, 50+ episodes in, we're getting to his personal quests and I'll tag him in to complete them. I'll do this in a way similar to how I recently added a Druid to handle a Harper mission. Thankfully on this difficulty I can sub out my squad without breaking anything. If I ever do future runs, I'll use a different build and thus different main companions. Unfortunately you can only choose 3 companions at a time in this game and I chose based on that and my build,
How can you download this game?
I bought it off of Steam, but you can also get it on Xbox, for $19.99 USD at the moment. I think it might be included in Xbox Game Pass if you have that, though I am not sure, as I don't.

How many plague hearts are there in lethal zone?
From what I've seen its somewhere between 26 and 32, though on average its usually 28 in my games. My understanding is that the variance is based on checks the game does when spawning the map. Basically making sure they don't spawn on top of each other and what not. Undead Labs explained it on one of their streams a bit ago after the plague territory update.

So I am not 100%, as I've not played other difficulties since the rework of plague territory, but I think it is something like: Nightmare = 15-20 Normal/Dread = 10-15 Green = 5-10 (Edit: Did a quick check of the Wiki and that's roughly what they have as well)

Yeah definitely. Nightmare keeps on the steady increase, but Lethal goes nuts with them.

Starting with this episode I changed a bit how I am normalizing the audio. This time I used one of the Davinci Resolve preset for 5.1 surround, rather than a general lowering of the dB and like how it sounded a bit better than previous. Please let me know though if anything sounds off, especially compared to previous episodes.

I'm sorry, because my comment yesterday was erased or hidden or something... That's why you play the State Of Decay 1. This videogame, this zombie-apocalypse game. What a Triumph! I mean, I was played that since back then. Hope SOD3 will never got cancelled, that's all... I apologize, I was truly messy.
No its ok. I didn't see the message pop up at all, even on my held for review tab. If it was blocked it definitely wasn't by me, if so it'd have to have been from Google for some reason. Agreed! Love this game and have been wanting to try it again for forever. Also agreed on SOD3, but I think its making progress. Microsoft really loves them and most of the studio is hard at work on it.
Classic SoD, nice. I really fell in love with the first one. Even though the 2nd added a lot of content, it failed to capture the heart of their first title.
Agreed. There are a lot of little things from 1 that I really miss, now that I am going back to it. Even just the more basic RPG elements, like the special moves unlocks and dialogue between characters. They added some of the story feeling back with Heartland and the Trumbull map, but its definitely not the same. I am hoping they find a better balance with 3 from the get go.
Learned a lot from this. I am thinking about doing a solo run but I'm a wimp it'll be standard. Everytime I try to back over a feral he just slides right under with no damage
Glad to hear the run has helped and good luck on your own run! This challenge definitely results in a different play style. I also highly recommend at least 2 blood plague survivors to switch between. It can be real annoying to roll for them, but its worth it. With no clinic and no sure way to get cure, regular survivors will take multiple days in game to recover even slightly. As for difficulty, its all about what makes the game fun to you. While I've only been playing Lethal on the channel, it took a long time for me to become comfortable on it. However, my preferred difficulty is a custom one actually. (Nightmare combat, Dread Community and Lethal Map.) Tones down the freak spawns a bit, makes moral less a headache, (freeing up how I build), but keeps resources lower. As for the Feral's, I've found its usually a combo of what car you're using and the terrain you're driving on. Some, like the Jeeps, are a pain in the but to get it to work, while others like the Trucks/SUV's are easier. Something to do with how their collision mesh is set up underneath I think. Your best chances though are pulling them to some type of flat ground, preferably a road.

Light Domain is busted - my favorite tank in this game is Ancients-7/Light-5.
Yeah its been really fun so far. All the benefits of the Cleric, with the damage of an evoker. Also that combo would definitely be busted as heck haha

Thanks! I've definitely been there too. I had many a death at the start and each time a new difficulty level came out. The best advice I can give is take it slow and steady....also always be ready/willing to drop everything and run.
The only cure mission? In this economy? Common, rng!
I know right! Almost never get the mission and then I do on the one run I cannot afford it haha. Sadly I'll probably have to skip that mission, a bit cold hearted I know, but the one I have might be it for the whole run.......

To do this I believe you have to start a new community and stay on only one map. When you first load in, before taking the first base, you exit to the main menu and then reload into the new community. Doing this skips the tutorial missions and moves you to the tent you see me using.

Throughout I go through and show/fiddle with the new settings and thankfully there isn't a major performance problem like u36. - The most obvious bug is the shadow realm issue when going into buildings. There are several solutions to this, which I show off. 1 is dropping shadow quality to Low and the other is just always having your flashlight on. After this ep I think I prefer the later, as the former causes the outside to look kinda bad.

I have not actually. Didn't own a PlayStation when it was just there and never got around to it on PC. Heard it was good, shame its not getting a sequel. I might add it to the list down the line, though likely would jump straight into hard haha.

Influence is tied to a community and not shared. So each play through you'll have to build it up from zero. This is part of the benefit of unlocking the Trader Boon, as it allows you to start with 4,000 instead. There is a separate currency that is shared across all playthroughs, which is Prestige Points. This is earned by playing the Daybreak mode, or in game by beating sieges and a few other things. You then spend it on the Daybreak DLC stuff in your Radio Call Ins. Also, out of curiosity on my end. I believe so, but I don't know if the game's UI will change to match. So for instance the game will still tell you to press Y, but on the PS4 controller it would be Triangle. It will still work and all the buttons will roughly match, but you'll have to translate. I personally use an Xbox One controller to play, so don't know 100%.
Love the irony of baseless challenge with a community named The Catsle. I wanna try a run like this but I'm a certified car wrecker. So level 2 workshop and a mech are must for me. Any good idea of toolkit supply?
Haha same. Also same on cars....I do my best, but usually go through 1-4 repair kits a recording. As for kit supply, friendly enclaves are the savior there. While doing prep for the Solo challenge run I did a bit ago, I found that enclaves often sell kits and gas cans. Since then I've gotten in the habit of buying them whenever I see them for sale, even if I don't currently need any. Early on this can be tough, but once you have 5+ friendly enclaves up it becomes decently reliable. Combine those with what you scavenge via repair shops, wrecked cars, etc. you can build up a decent surplus. It also helps save parts too, since those have gotten more important. Though in this run I am gona need to be extra carful...that or I am gona be constantly burning influence to call in the DLC/Broker cars lol
@@SetStatus_TacitGameplay Yes! Enclaves! Some say they are too needy, but toolkits, medkits, motlovs, etc., they are super useful when you cant make them on your own. And some enclave benefits are great, too, in this type of run, like extra bets, and rooftop sniper, and maybe even extra storage for material if you go to level 3 com-center? Hope you have good rng for such benefits in this challenge.
100% In my normal runs I don't focus on them, but in this one the Allied Enclaves are going to be the key to my success. The goods they sell will be vital, but the benefits could be really helpful. Personally I am hoping for the Roadside Assistance and Sniper ones, but honestly any will be helpful....especially ones that compensate for my lack of facilities (like the beds one I got).

Yea you can mod the game. It doesn't have native mod support though so the options are a bit limited, compared to some games. There are a few that modify difficulty, change up the zombies, cosmetics, etc.

Personally I go with: Chemistry, Cooking and then either Mechanics or no 5th skill. I also always try to get someone with the "Never Been Sick" trait. This was recorded on u36 as a precaution, since the last few updates have had major issues that impacted my recording. This way I had time to check out the patch off camera and give Undead Labs some time to fix anything major. After some spot checks things seem ok, so next episode I release (7/29) will be on u37. There will be! The next episode I release will be on update 37. I recorded this one on u36 as a precaution, since the last few updates have had major issues for me. This way I could give myself time to check out the patch and give Undead Labs a bit of time to fix any major bugs.

Yeah same. Something I found while watching some other folk's gameplay a while ago and doing research on Solo runs. As for sieges....I am gona do my best to avoid them haha. I might let one site get infested to farm crossbow ammo, but we'll see...without walls a full on one would probably be a run killer.

No problem, I am glad to help! As a first run, if you like higher difficulties, I'd say give Dread Zone a shot. All around its more difficult than Green/Standard, with more zombies, less resources, quicker infections and higher costs in crafting/building, but not so much so to be overwhelming. Nightmare and Lethal zone's spike the difficulty significantly and rely on you being really familiar with the game to get by. Alternatively, you could try a custom game difficulty. Choosing this will open a menu where you can adjust the 3 main parts of the game to each be different. The menu will also explain what changes in game by adjusting each options. As is, it'll be easier, but still be a challenge for a multitude of reasons. - Without a base, I'll be stuck in the starter Tent and the only facility I'll have throughout the playthrough is the Command Center. I'll upgrade this as I can, to unlock more outposts. - Since I won't have any other facilities, this will mean: No crafting, No weapon repairs, No vehicle upgrades and No passive healing. As such I will be completely dependent on the supplies I can get via the Sheriff Boon, found in containers, Radio Call Ins, or purchased via NPC's. - Theoretically I can do some limited crafting, if I used the generic mods from the Bounty Broker/DLC and place it in the Command Center's slot. However, we'll see what's available while I do this run. As is, it might not be worth the expense those offer - This is why I chose the starting line up and boons I did. 2 Blood Plague survivors will help negate the Blood Plague threat, meaning I'll only need to worry about Trauma/Injuries. Both of those can be healed via stuff I can buy/call in. The Sheriff boon gets me some useful resources each day and the Trader Boon meant I could immediately purchase Items/Outposts. - While I won't generally be be able to craft anything, this also means I'll be heavily dependent on looting, other enclaves and radio call ins to get what I need to progress. - During my research I found that, without base Storage, you have a cap of 15 of each resource. Anything beyond that gets wasted, but it should still be more than enough for a small community that'll only have food needs. Once I get up to around 12 of each, making my survivors happy, I can then sell or break open any rucks I find. The exception being Materials, which I'll still need for upgrading the Outposts and Command Center. - With these limitations I'll be looting, buying and fighting for every inch of ground. This is why I ended up choosing Cascade Hills, over my other option Providence Ridge. While PR has a better landmark, Cascade Hills has a better starting area distribution on outposts. As is, I can get what I need outside of plague territory and create a defensive wall around my tent. ============================================================ Challenge Rules: ============================================================ 1) I cannot take over any of the maps bases. - This leaves me with only the Starter Tent, its one facility (the Command Center) and Outposts. - The Command Center can be upgraded, meaning I'll be able to get more outposts, but also a single mod slot. This slot can use either CC specific mods or generic ones. 2) Other than Rule 1, I am able to use anything at my disposal as #1 results in a plethora of limitations on its own. - Thigs allowed and used will be any Call Ins and DLC content available to me. 3) Curveballs will be disabled for this first run of this challenge. - Since this is my first attempt at a run like this, I wanted to learn the basics of how it goes...before adding Curveballs to the mix. Once I know how this run goes and its limitations, if I do this challenge again I'll add curveballs as an increased difficulty.
