I just put a Honus Wagner T206 card on my bicycle fender with a clothespin! What a cool noise!
I'm sure the source footage isn't pristine. But UA-cam makes it look like it was shot underwater.
It's London
A remarkable ballad.
Great photos. Thanks for sharing
Angel Hernandez making bad calls even back then.
Just started watching baseball, when does this “Barry Bonds” guy show up?
Amazing!
I was in attendance here.
I wish i had a great great great grandfather who bought old cigar packs with the cards inside with some of the most iconic baseball players ever like Ty cobb, Honus Wagner, Tris Speaker, Shoeless joe Jackson, Babe ruth, Jackie Robinson and passed everything down. That would be awesome. Of course those cards can go for millions of dollars but just to have a piece of rare history would be like nothing else
Love the old Hayden Quartet recording!
that is cool
Man how I would of loved to go in those days, time travel and watch some games in those days, see the old stadiums, see what the cities were like.
Just make sure you not differently skin colored
You'd have to get in line behind me. I can think of at least half a dozen long gone ballparks I plan on see when I get to Heaven.
@@ruffdawgingjoemama????
@@wgcds7jyg897r u stupid or just to young to understand?
@@ruffdawgingjoemama you people are up there as the most insufferable people along with those who randomly bring up Trump when it's unrelated
That ball must have weighed 8 pounds!
the St. Louis Browns weren't even a thing yet Hell, not even the Brewers.
Far more exciting than modern baseball!
Yup
That’s totally stupid.
Amazing bridge
Thanks Mate! Great!
What for a song is the third melody? After "Sweet Rosie OGrady"?
Anyone who played, filmed or attended this game has been dead for Decades. And anyone who is reading this comment 128 years from now will realize all we commentors have been dead for Decades.
I sometimes hope that the oldest footage will show the game[s] is played completely differently in some horrifying way.
Crazy to think we already had these big baseball stadiums in the 1890s 😯
Wow now thats was the best glory days of the bridge clean, fresh paint looks good now days its rust and holes in the railing crack road stretch out cables paint fading away fences on the main cables to keep people off a new $200,000,000 net basically its failing 😪😪😪😪😪 it will never see the glory days again it will only get worse
Apparently the future writer of western stories Zane Grey is one of the players, the first player to run to first. This game was the Newark Colts against the Reading (Pa.) Coal Heavers.
is that Patrick Stewart in the front row?
😆 Thanks for the laugh fellow Sci-Fi/Baseball fan.
No, it looks more like the Ueck.
back when baseball was great again todays baseball is garbage
It’s literally physically impossible for you to have any clue how enjoyable baseball was 123 years ago.
@@bwfextreme yeah I've noticed how people see something old and just so they have the opportunity to complain they'll just say this was great. Today sucks. Even if they have no clue why the older was so great and why it sucks now.
@@bwfextreme It's called sarcasm and a figure of speech. Baseball is an American past time so it's measure or meaning Spans throughout past & present. You shouldn't be so expansive on your explanation when demeaning someone's statement. If you wanted to insult the ol chap then you should have proceeded to.
Make BGA 😁
SO cool. 1898. Wow!
33 years after the civil war ended🤯
man just think. reels and reels of film they wouldve had to use back then. some great plays lost forever

joe west umpiring his 10th season in this footage
😅😅😅..Good one..
That's not Joe West, I didn't see any blown calls.
Its a well known fact people back then were still hardcore fans of Javier Baez. Because obviously. Prove me wrong.
Awww, my life long home! Still here since 1969! This is the year my Grandma and Grandpa were married, too! 🌟
