Here I take a look at video game performance from all consoles, old and new!
All gameplay footage on this channel is captured from the consoles at the highest quality possible and then run through a framerate analysis tool to get the actual peformance numbers.
Everything is captured from real original hardware, no emulators here.
Goal of this channel is to create a "framerate archive" of sorts so that there is a reference for people to use if they are interested. With the ultimate goal to have whole console game libarys tested.

Jugable es, un poco de downgrade y ponerlo a 4:3 habria ayudado. Hay que recordar que la proporcion de la pantalla es mayor que la de ps2, y eso afecta al rendimiento. En cualquiera de los casos es un trabakazo de los programadores fabulosos

I like the textures and light of dreamcast.
I think this is a game that could probably run 30fps locked, since there are many chaotic instances where it does.
30K+ polygons x frame @ 60hz, with 40 AI cars on track, and a truly impressive draw distance. Dreamcast was way more capable than people give it credit for.

Pointless video. GDEMU is much faster, seek time etc than GD ROM.
How is it pointless? It is recommended to run this build from a Gdemu or similar as its still alpha and streaming in assets is not fully optimised yet.
Good job, finally a perfect fps analysis of GTA 3 for Dreamcast. I'm convinced that for the beta it will improve a lot. Could you do an analysis of GTA 3 for PS2? I'd like to know how it really works. Thank you very much.
Yea I can do the PS2 version! I believe the performance is higher but it's certainly not a locked 30. I'll probably end up doing the OG Xbox version as well.

Really impressive work by the dev team so far! The framerate is borderline acceptable and visually it resembles the official releases about as closely as I could have expected, though the vehicle/pedestrian traffic density and draw distance took a major hit which makes it look rather barren. I honestly wouldn't have thought the Dreamcast could run GTA3 this well at all though, even with the visual cutbacks. I wonder how much room they have left for improvement in future releases.

Parece que a opção "rastros" está habilitada, se estiver mesmo, seria interessante atualizar o título e a descrição com essa info. Além disso, caso os rastros estejam ativados, seria ótimo realizar outro teste de taxa de quadros (frame-rate test) sem os rastros para comparação. (O mesmo para o GTA 3 de PS2 e Xbox OG). Ótimo conteúdo!
Trails are off. That's a performance demanding gfx
It's a little misleading to average the framerate during gameplay together with the cutscene framerate since the flight gameplay targets 60 fps while the cutscenes only target 30 fps which drags down the overall average. The average in this analysis was 54 but it was almost a perfect 60 during the gameplay footage. Also its worth noting that this game also features on foot missions which only target 30 fps during gameplay, so you might want to analyze those separately as well.
Maybe but there's not really much I can do, that's just the way the fps tool works. I guess possibly making separate videos for differen't segments would work but I mean it's not worth the effort. This gives you a good enough idea how it runs IMO.

I think this is the first game you've covered that runs at a locked 60 frames per second! Curious as to why it was published by Hasbro in the US unless there's some obscure board game tie-in I'm not aware of lol. My favorite thing about this port is that they updated the seagulls in Sea-Side Street Galaxy with new textures but they still has the same ~18 quad abstract mesh they had in the arcade.

Yea I originally made this for Bad Definition but decided collabing wasn't really gunna work so I uploaded the videos here. I did say to him he could keep the videos on his channel but he wants to focus on PlayStation stuff.
Probably the most impressive thing about this game is the near lack of any loading times. Kinda wish there was a way to turn off the SSAA though, I have a feeling that might be where a lot of the slowdown comes from.
If there would be someone to reprogram and patch the game to get rid about a certain Windows CE overhead...
I always thought that the 60fps code was (mostly) a lie lol, thanks for confirming for me! (Unless you didn't actually enter the code but the game still occasionally jumps up to 60fps without it?)
Yes, it's weird. The codes works, but they should have added the codes as options, not as hidden codes because these codes just disables certain effects and objects to maintain 60fps. Otherwise the game will focus on keeping a stable framerate (30fps) and playability and only go 60 when it feels like it.
Can you make the framerate charts more transparent or smaller or something? They're making it difficult if not impossible to see the car and some of the HUD elements in these clips. Love these framerate videos btw! Do you only plan to capture DC or can you do other consoles from the 5th and 6th gen as well?
Thanks for the feedback, I don't think I can make the graphs smaller (because phone users) but more transparent I can for sure. I guess it depends on the game as to if anything is covered up or not. I will be making more framerate content, mainly 6th gen but some 5th gen and probably newer aswell. 😁
