How to complete the hardest push up challenge! | Bring Sally Up | Achilles Tendon Rupture - Week 16
Переглядів 534Рік тому
Have you tried the "Bring Sally Up" push-up challenge? After tearing my Achilles in May, I took it up to strengthen my upper body. The challenge itself is straightforward: you do push-ups in sync with the lyrics of "Flower" by Moby, without letting your body touch the ground for over 3 minutes. It's perfect for improving chest and core strength. I used to not be able to finish the challenge, bu...

    Mad props!👍. “You are the best person to know your body.”. Yes!!! Thank you!! Doctors want to prescribe standard protocol to everyone across the board, when everyone is different. I am at (4) weeks post surgery, and this morning I put the 1/2” heel lift in my “other” tennis shoe, and walked without the boot!😮. The “doctors” would be like…”whaaaattt??!!!!”. Yeah, that’s right, my body, my choice! I am still going to be extremely careful, and humble, and grateful…but I need to get going. My livelihood depends on my body! Mind, body, and soul…focused, diverse approach. I believe, therefore I am.🙏. God bless!!❤

    How did you get down from the pull up bar? I am horrified to land on my surgically repaired ankle especially with weight! However, landing with all the weight on my “good” leg isn’t too exciting either. Thanks! Great vid.

    Your atory resonated with me. Ruptured my Achilles a month ago playing tennis. I has a trip planned with my wife and kids and was so disappointed to have to cancel. Hardest thing was that I got into really good shape since the pandemic and kept thinking that I would lose all that. Fogured out ways to get workouts (upper body) done at home with dumbells, pull up bar and bands. So able to not just maintain, but go for gains. Helps tremendously with mood and general mental state. Really love your positive attitude towards your situation/recovery. I find once you accept this happened, you can focus on the recovery and look at it as an opportunity to do other things. First few weeks are definitely tough mentally but gets better with a good attitude!

    Hi Eric, I have been very encouraged by your videos. I tore my Achilles on 5/31/24. I just started therapy this past Monday. Feeling good. I would love to connect with you sometime to talk on the phone. Being a believer in Jesus, I'd love to talk to you about the gospel as well. But in general, you have been an inspiration in my journey to healing

    You are exactly right, with this injury (and im only on day 6 of the achillis rupture) it is so saddening and daunting...not being able to do anything, pretty much being useless for now and near future...and such a long road to recovery. It eats at you, thats for certain.

    I had a full rupture at age 40 at CrossFit. I was going 5 days a week for almost 4 months and the rupture happen making a 180 hop completing my last round of shuttle sprints. I felt pretty sad and depressed coming into summer with five kids, couldn't drive (right foot). 3rd week after injury and probably 10 pounds heavier I had one of my daughters bring up dumb bells from the basement. Finished quick light upper body workout and my entire mood changed! I started doing small daily workouts. I returned to CrossFit about a week after surgery and sat on the Assault Bike and put in work. Since having my walking boot I've been going to CrossFit about 4 times a week and scaled the workouts to my capabilities. Best decision I could make was continuing any sort of fitness! Your video was inspiring and paralleled what I think my recovery approach and not only did it improve my physical health and healing but mental health as well. GREAT VIDEO and KEEP IT UP!!! You are an ATHLETE!

    Hi! Thx for the video. I’m going to buy the VACOped but I’m between sizes. For my ankle and calf circumference I’m a M but for my foot length I’m a shoes size 12 which means size L. If I buy the M my toes might stick out 1/2”. In your experience do you think having my toes stick out 1/2” is a big deal? Thx.

I tried to walk every single day once I got the cast off and was signed off by therapist and doctor that I am clear to walk. I think it would be best for you to sync in with your therapist and doctor

    Congrats on the PR and continued progress!! I tore my Achilles a couple weeks ago playing basketball and am due to get my splint off Friday (22 March). How was the transition back to minimalist footwear? (I love my Xero and Vivobarefoot shoes). Also, do you know where I could find an affordable VACOped?

    • @ericjho
      @ericjho 5 місяців тому

      Thank you so much man! Hang in there and you got this! On fb, you can type in Achilles Tendon Rupture Group! They got many resources and people do sell used items there! Also for minimalist footwear. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE be careful. I think that's honestly one of the biggest reasons why i ruptured my achilles tendon. Before my injury, I would do crossfit (like running and jumping) using those shoes and I think my legs were VERY fatigued. Apparently, even the shoe seller told me that, a lot of people got injured trying to run with minimalist shoes and it takes really long time for you to build up muscles to be safe for running. For me, I absolutely use minimalist shoes ONLY on liftings, not even dynamic exercises, jumping running. Esp for my achilles, I have been using mid to max cushion shoes for running
