I know I'm literally incorrect when I say this but I like to imagine that Boq being careful NOT to call her by her name is out of some sort of EXTREMELY deep part of him that still cares for her in some small capacity. Like he doesn't want to believe it's her because he DOESN'T believe it's her genuinely. In the book they're a lot more closer than the musical, like the friendship is a lot more established.

The fact that Boq nearly says Elphaba and covers it up by calling her a witch is by far the most heartbreaking moment in this scene. He literally doesn't care about murdering someone who was his friend.
well, you can blame her sister for shrinking his heart, and Aqaba had to save his life, but he almost died by her sister won’t spell so the scissor is the one to blame for not elphaba

@ yeah he definitely heartless the reason he’s heartless because her sister was trying to get get him to be in love with her, but that didn’t work out because he read it wrong and she almost killed him so that’s why she turned them into a tin man

It's not that Boqs heartless, his situation is similar to the Grinch. His heart is still inside its just very small, and he is letting his rage blind his judgement because when your hurt badly you tend to try finding someone to blame.
