ATV - Sports Plays of the week / weekend with Paul Mennier. These are from summer 1993 In New Brunswick in the 80s & early 90s, only 2 TV channels came through our antenna: CBC & ATV (CTV Atlantic). There was no internet, so the best way to see great sports plays was every Friday & Monday at 5:45 pm when the "Plays of the week" and "Plays of the weekend" would air. I love me Gordon Lightfoot !!!!!!
Saw them a lot in the 60’s…what a great voice she had.The harmonies were incredible
Wonderful voice. Ian and Sylvia
It’s time that most American country music fans embrace the legacy of Ian Tyson as the father of classic cowboy country music. The beauty of Canadian country music and culture worth experiencing and exploring, many American country singers like Willie Nelson., Glen Campbell, George Straits and many others to pay their respect to the true singing cowboy who stay true to his Canadian and American heritages. His tragic experience of losing his amazing voice to a rare viral illness, though didn’t crush his spirit until a fatal cardiac arrest ended his life and his career. All we now have is the legendary recordings he left behind, along with his ex wife. Sylvia Fricker- Tyson who we also love and admired. It’s time for the legendary Ian Tyson to shine brighter than ever as we also remember the second legendary singer and songwriter, Gordon Lightfoot. Rest In Peace to the two shining stars of Canada’s beauty and pride.🇨🇦🇺🇸❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Rip A great cowboy n singer From texas
I love a Gordon Lightfoot ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ I have followed him since 1963 and I’m 73 now. So many superstars in music but Gordon is on the top of my list. Thanks for your music ❤❤❤
One of a kind
I remember back in the 50s in New Hampshire seeing loggers wrap a log chain around a fallen log and attach it to a mule to pull it away. The log was heavy and the mule wasn't too eager to pull it, so they had to crack a whip to make the mule move. The Good Ol Days...
Thanks for this interview. It's insightful as to how Gordon regarded his songwriting as "compulsive" in the early days when he produced so many hits, probably at the expense of his family life. And at the time of this interview, he seems happy looking at it as more of a hobby, though he says with a chuckle, still compulsive. Clearly, he loved performing. Great artist and positive human being, learned the lessons of life and in his later songs passing it on to us.
He was a true Canadian Rip my friend
Stomp’n for PM instead of Castro’s love child
Saw Gordon twice in Vancouver and each time the opening bars to The Wreck..... made my hair stand on end.
True Canadian singer and his songs.
my grandfathers house at 1.33
Watch before “they” take it down #Beauty24
One of Canada's best. You are sadly missed Gordon. Your music lives one...Lloyd :)
Very different voices, Gordon Lightfoot, and Charlie Pride, this Music will live forever they can never be copied, born Talent, just Brilliant, My Brother Seamus played his stuff not the sad, he introduced me to him, Seamus loved Lightfoot & I loved Seamus, Did she mention my name, was the first song he sang for me l hear it in my head after all these years. + Rest in Peace Boys always in my Prayers. 🇮🇪☘️❤️ Thanks for the great Memories along with the Joy, and Tears.
"too young to be a wife"??? the little girl looks about 7 or 8 ????????

Saw Tom at the Horseshoe Tavern in Toronto many times Great Canadian R I P my friend
So glad to have grown up in this era! The music was pure genius!
ever looked for job in a crap economy? u will go anywhere there is work. lighten up francis
love him!!
Stompin Tom had a massive impact on my life growing up. Get to it and at it! I didn't know he returned his Junos. That is some good principled action.
To it and at it is one of my favourites from Tom, always helps to get me thru a hard work day on the jobsite
Was introduced to Gord's music with Don Quixote. If you've never listened to that album, do yourself a favor. Every song is just beautiful. The way the guitars emulate the vocals and the stories is just outstanding. Just close your eyes and really let the songs invade your mind. He really had a talent. Thanks Gordon!
Gordon certainly did the best with what he had. Dedicated and superb.
Wonderful. I've never seen that performance of "I Have a Son, I Have a Daughter"
I always liked Ian&Sylvia. When Sylvia’s song “Nobody” came out I had to pick a side,I picked her. 🤗The song “Some kinda Fool” had solidified my fan hood for these people.🥰
The American singer, Sylvia, sang “Nobody “. Not Sylvia Tyson, who is a Canadian singer-songwriter.
@@BonAirGirl1
why has heinz not been all over the ketchup song?
LOVE THIS!!!!!
One of the highlights of my life was when I finished an interview with Gord, and choking back tears, I said "I just want you to know that you make me proud to be Canadian." There was a pause (he didn't take compliments well) and then just said, 'well, thank you.' Immeasurable talent and an irreplaceable artist.
Don Messer had a very nice TV show on the CBC.

Post the whole thing okay? Do it.
love the theme music Texas Paul, reminds me of Austin City Limits, cool closing also.
The song at 1:57 somewhat resembles House of the Rising Sun
Guess I met her late beautiful soul❤❤🙏
This. Is where i met george gones in studio in toronto
rad! thanks for posting
I first became a fan when I bought the 45 of "Sundown" when I was 10, although I knew "If You Could Read My Mind." "Sundown" had such an edge to it and although I didn't know about sex, I inherently knew that was a very sexy song.
I was about 15 when I first heard “Sundown.” It literally stopped me in my tracks as I was walking into my bedroom one day. This Michigan kid had never heard of Gordon Lightfoot before then. But I knew that song oozed so much sexuality that it turned me on. And I was/am female. So it was Mr. Lightfoot who helped me take my first steps into that verboten adult world. Thanks Gord!
I often wonder if some of the best singers just don't end up insanely popular so that those of us that appreciate their talent get the full measure of their gifts. It's not diluted by fad or populism and we are the grateful recipients of such beauty.
RIP Ian, best cowboy and singing EVER. Loved Your singing and cowboy songs.
Please anybody can tell me the name of the song at 1:57? Thanks
It’s A Minor Ballad from his 2nd album The Way I Feel
Wonder how his hair was both tight curly and sometimes totally straight ? Did he get permed like a lot of guys did in the 70s ? Because he ended up with straight hair in the end.
Got me through a lot long nights and drives thanks
"Summer Wages"!
What a wonderful video. Kudos CBC
Does anybody know where I can watch the whole episode?
