Honing the iron on my bronze apron plane, I use the fine Shapton stone freehand. Polish the back and the cutting edge. Takes minutes and the plane glides through the wood. I found Frank Klausz's method to work for me, highly recommend looking it up. The man is an absolute genius.

#unboxing my latest addition to the #minolta collection. The #uniomat is a #35mm #rangefinder camera from the early 60s. Exposure is controlled by the working light meter which selects the relevant aperture and shutter speed dependent on light level. Came with the original case and manual in very lightly used condition.

Haven't used the number 4 #handplane for a while, some surface rust appearing thanks to the saturated UK climate. Previously prepared to a mirror finish, my preferred method now is to use a #machinist #handscraper to true up and level. The surface ends up gliding across the wood. Flattening the walnut offcut with the veritas scrub plane. Set fairly shallow as not much material needs to be removed. More to come...

Using a veritas round spokeshave to clean up the waney edge on this walnut offcut. Going to carve this into a small tray, wagatabon style. More to come.

Unboxing the Veritas wonder pup. Very useful dog mounted clamp with a huge range of adjustment. Only problem I have now is I'm going to have fill the holes I've already drilled and align them properly. This will be an excellent addition to the tool kit. #handtools #joinery #woodworking #boxmaking
