Thanks for stopping by, my name is Mike and I'm back into the hobby after a 20+ year hiatus! I will feature mostly 1/24 and 1/25 scale model car kits from the 1940’s through the 2000’s. You might also find the occasional Sci-Fi build, figure, airplane or motorcycle! I always welcome feedback and suggestions.

Classic Kit Review: AMT 1989 Pontiac Turbo Firebird GTA
if you are not kicking yourself for not picking up more of the star wars stuff, you should be :P bandai is up there with tamiya, imo, and that boba fett model is gonna be hard to find now. u can still get the AT-ST though, and i highly recommend that.
It’s funny you say that because I just picked up the Boba Fett and Tantive last week 😆 Bandai quality is definitely on par with Tamiya. Thanks for stopping by 👍
So cool.
Great Dio tips!!! Thanks for sharing
Just built that for the 48 hr group build…I didn’t make it. TONS of clean up! But makes an awesome model when done. Enjoy!
I will have to check that out! The parts cleanup is required on every part, but it looks half-way decent when assembled. Thanks for stopping by 👍
Very cool looking kit!
Thanks 👍
That is going to look so cool when it's done. It's looking awesome
Thank you 👍
Great start, looks like a fun build 😊
Thanks David 👍
Excellent review !! I've looked at that kit many times over the years. I have often wondered if I could pose the rider in different ways but I see that's not really an option for what I was thinking. Yes, it's a 45+ year old mold - but they generally still cost a lot less than the new Revell kit. Now that I have seen your review I'm adding this to my need list LOL. The MPC X-wing glue kit is my favorite and I have one of those left in my stash. The Fine Molds and Bandai X-wings get all the glory but the MPC kit is bigger and it's not that bad. I actually had a Fine Molds 1/48 kit and sold it - I kept the MPC one LOL. I agree with you on not worrying about being exact. The chances of finding two "real" worn out speeder bikes that would be the same is highly unlikely. 👍
Thanks for taking the time to stop by 👍 Before you go out to purchase this, wait for my review of the Bandai speeder bike, then you can make an informed decision on your purchase 😉
@@ScaleSpeedworks Sounds good - thank you !
Awesome sauce Mike! Great video explaining everything about this build and what your plans are.
Thank you 👍
It's always nice to be organized. Nice tip on the frame. I'll be watching
I wish I were more organized, it would make this a whole lot easier 😆
Always feels nice to get everything organized and how you like it. Looking forward to the diorama, great tip on the base.
Thank you!
Cool stuff, Mike! I'm a bug fan of saving cash
More 💰 to spend on kits! 😆
I like it Mike.
Thank you 👍
I picked up some of the foam board a few weeks ago. Some of it will be for my rust bucket build dio and the others to make model railroad dioramas to do some photography of my trains.
It’s expensive stuff, but try and look for damaged pieces and ask for a discount, they usually give it to you. Best of luck JD 👍
Nice idea on the diorama Mike. I never would have thought of that. Hey some other channels are saying Joann is not carrying the extreme lacquer so it's a clearance price. Ok going to ice my shoulder now😂
Killing me Joe! Never tried the Extreme Lacquer before. After I bought the cans they restocked and put the price back up! Not sure what’s going on, but it was hard to pass up 👍
Very cool work area, looking forward to your diorama!👍
Thank you!
Great tips Mike, I need to check my Joann's, 😎👍
Never used the Extreme Lacquer before, looks like some guys get pretty good results. Hard to pass up at less than $3 a can!
MIKE,MIKE,MIKE!!! What day is it? It’s hump day! Great tip on using a premade shadow box.👍👏👏. I made a spray booth out of a metal storage cabinet and kitchen exhaust fan from a yard sale. The paint to paint it white cost more than the yardsale items😳. Anyway thanks for sharing your tips 🎉👏👏
Thanks 😀 I try and save time and $$ any way I can. The shadow box is an easy fix!
Those extreme laquers are a closeout/clearance sale. Once they are gone, they're gone. Some stores have more than others, and some stores lowered more, or less.
Interesting, thanks Joe. My Joann seems to restock them, then raise the price back up 🤔 I’ll check back again. Never used them, hope they’re good 🤷♂️
Very nice work. It looks amazing
Thank you very much 👍
nice haul on the paint. thanks for the diorama tip. im actually starting my first real diorama with my current build of the thunderbird 2.
I’m probably going to make a diorama base for the speeder bikes I’m building for BG. Hopefully all goes as planned 🤷♂️ 😆
Looks great, Mike!! ✌️😊
Thank you! 👍
Shop looking good. Great tip for diorama. Thanks for sharing. 😊
Thanks for stopping by, much appreciated! 👍
Nice tip for a base. I like those paint shelves too. I can't use them at my desk, but it would be nice to have one by the paint booth.
They are the perfect size for the Tamiya jars! I’m sure you could find a use for them 😉
Thanks for the link to those acrylic paint holders. I've been looking for something like that. Looking forward to when you get started on that diorama.
Thanks Larry! I might do one for this speeder bike I’m building, not sure yet. Thanks for stopping by 👍
I think this is a really cool old kit awesome choice. I absolutely love speeder bikes. Can’t wait to see the builds. Great helper you have there too!! Too fun
My boy loves his Star Wars 🤣
@@ScaleSpeedworks so do I. Lol.
Awesome build idea! Been looking at the Bandai version but don’t know if I want to spend $75 on it.
I’ll do an unboxing and compare the two, then you can decide if the Bandai is worth it. You probably already know the answer (it is!!) 👍
Very cool kits and choice for the gb!
Thanks!
Nice
Thank you 👍
Nice build choices Mike. Looking forward to it. It's awesome you have a little helper. Get the little ones building. Was this a one off intro? Because I always seem to hurt my shoulder on your normal intro! I can't help but slam through the gears lol!
Thanks Joe 👍 This was my Sci-Fi intro. I made it specifically for this build and other sci-fi projects I have. Was it too much? I figured the Demon dragstrip audio wasn’t applicable to a Star Wars build. But let me know 🤷♂️
@@ScaleSpeedworks no the sci-fi intro is awesome. So is your normal intro. I can't help but run through the gears along with it.
Very cool kit choices, can't wait to see these build up!
Thanks Paul, I appreciate it 👍
Great choice Mike ❤😊
Thanks Shawn 👍
Maybe extended the rear of the frame rails past the axles. Make the rear axle a dummy floater axle. Possibly add a second sprocket to the main drive axle and run a chain to the second.
Thanks for the tip! I like it. I might try and modify the chain. It unfortunately is molded into the sprocket. Time to get creative! 👍
Pretty cool! A buddy build, group build. Thanks for sharing.
My little guy loves Star Wars. This is a great way to get him involved. Besides, he knows a lot more than I do 🤣
Nice choice for BG’s group build. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks 👍
Are they the same kit? Funny if one has a bigger box just for the base. Love that your son was involved in the video. I've never built a Star Wars kit outside of Bandai.
Thanks JD. Yeah, same kit. Stick with the BanDai, the AMT/Revell are much cheaper, but vary in scale and typically have much less detail. Nothing builds like a Bandai 😉 Save up though, BanDai kits are typically 4-5x the cost of a similar AMT kit. Do you get what you pay for? Depends I guess 🤷♂️ I try and grab both when the opportunity and cash flow presents itself 💸
@@ScaleSpeedworks When it comes to Star Wars kits, I always buy a Bandai kit. Even the figure kits are fun.
Very cool 😎
Thank you 👍
Creative intro lol. Good kit choices
Was the intro too much? I thought it was fun, but then again, what do I know 🤷♂️ Regardless, looking forward to the build 👍
@@ScaleSpeedworks I thought it was cool, I liked it
Now you've got me wanting to build a speeder bike. 🙃
Skip out on the AMT, trust me 😂 Spend 5x more and get a BanDai, you won’t be disappointed!!
@@ScaleSpeedworks Thanks for the tip!
Mike, that is too cool that you have one of your kids involved. I’m speaking from experience here, enjoy it, because they grow up too damn fast. Mine are 23 and 20, and when I think back to those good old days I almost weep. It’ll be fun to watch your progress on these.
Thank you very much 🙏 My son is 10 and somehow knows more Star Wars than someone his age should know 🤔 My daughter is 13 and thankfully still enjoys time with me. She even allowed me to coach her soccer team this year. I enjoy every opportunity I get with my kids 🫶
Hi Mike...that is a great choice for the gb...makes even more special is ypur spn helping...i always want to build a star war kit...thx 4 sharing ...vinny
Thanks Vinny! Bandai kits are the way to go, Hobby Lobby has them at reasonable prices 40% off. Take a chance! 👍
Neat kit. They look crazy when they hit trees.
I thought about doing one of those!! 😂 The kit is 1/11 scale, so my tree would be like what, 10’ tall 😆 Another time perhaps! Thanks Larry 👍
Fun kit built the 83 kit back in the day have fun may the force be with you 👍🙂
Thank you! Same kit essentially, the newer one just has more flash to scrape 😆
Sounds like a good plan. Have fun.
Thank you 👍
I know very little about Star Wars lol happy to see you jump in Mike and glad you have a very knowledgeable helper too lol thanks for posting have fun
Thanks Jeff! Appreciate you hosting 👍 Very awesome to have this build for BG. Well deserved!
Very nice speeder bike kits, should be a great build. Heard there is a fair amount of seam scrapping and filling on these.😊
Thanks David! 🤦♂️ Don’t remind me about the seams 🙄
Very cool kits.
Thank you! 👍
Nice ❤
Thank you 👍
