    Thanks for the video. May I ask what kind of an outboard do you use? I have got a MK2 without an engine bracket. One of the previous owners fitted some phenolic sheet on top of the transom from inside and outside and clamped an engine there. Clamp marks are still visible. that was once in a life time sail in a little boat ,to get the weather window you could try that trip over and over tenfold and take a week getting as far as jura and the weather would stop you going further on only so long you can sit it out and the food and beer runs out and you head back to start point those weather conditions only come round every 3 or 4 years and you need to pick the right time hard to drop everything when the conditions suit

    Another brilliant video, Matthew! After years visiting the N Norfolk coast, invariably at mid/low tide (!), I finally saw Brancaster Harbor at a mid-summer high spring tide, with the sun setting towards the North over the sea, and was blown away by the beauty of it all. Another world. I must get my boat up there when she's finished (last plank going on as we speak).

    Lovely to watch, a great area to sail in. I have now watched this film several times as a try to figure out how the boat is rigged. A great film, very enjoyable to watch and much to learn from to. I like the simple clean way you have rigged your boats. The removal of the seats gives much extra space, but seems lacking in bouyancy. You appear to be limited to bow and stern tanks or is there some below the floor boards? Again most enjoyable. Al

    • @MatthewSharman
      @MatthewSharman 11 місяців тому

      Thanks for the comments. I like simplicity too. Plenty of bouyancy for a wooden boat, too much side bouyancy and the boats becomes liable to invert on capsize.

    You got very lucky with the weather. I took my dinghy down to the Orwell at the start of August for the OGA anniversary and the weather was decidedly wet and windy. I believe Kirby Creek is the better place in the Walton Backwaters for seal watching. I understand that it's where the seal watching boat goes so perhaps the seals there are more used to boats. In any event it's a much wider bit of water so it's easier to keep a respectful distance from the seals.

    Fantastic filming and editing. I’m blown away by the awesomeness of the Wayfarer-handling considerable seas and variable wind conditions. Can that boat be launched from a dolly? The weather in July in Scotland reminds me of November in New England. Why was sleeping in the boat preferable to tenting on the ground? My wife and I visited our daughter at university in Glasgow this summer and were able to drive and ferry all around Mull, Islay, and Skye. I saw little sailboats from our various ferries, way out in rough seas and was impressed. Great job showing a wonderfully cool sailing adventure.
