Announced since 2015 and otherwise there is no solid information. The ship won't be around for a long time either. CIG can sell one thing very well, because nothing else are the ships that have been promised for 10 years. But with CIG there is a method. Every year they sell concepts that then disappear again.
Are you playing on Linux?
In this video no, just moved to windows for the tobii eye tracker and I didnt even use it Could not get it to work on fedora, seems like tobii is not supporting Linux. I'll probably switch back in 2025
Good information that is upto date and isnt long winded, thats what i look for I'll be subbing. Goodluck o7
Good feedback! I'll make sure to keep information-type videos to the point!
The cutlass looks surprisingly functional!
Yes! And the tractor beam was a blessing because I couldnt find any in the pyro station
Would you like to see other things besides Star Citizen? Like what? Space Engineers 2, Dev Blog of Starculator.space, Neovim, Linux etc etc....
I would like space engineers 2! Also I wouldn't mind some coding content, even if I won't understand much
I love the Hull A - Hoping that once the RSI work is done and they move on to MISC that this will be early on the list.
Same! But I fear that the Hull B is stuck deep in the backlog
Never fuck with another mans Reliant XD, tought he can just squash some smaller ships ^^ Audio seems fine with me, maybe a bit high pitched at some points?
Haha yes! The audio has some weird sounds sometimes. I want better quality atleast for future videos :)
Fun vid! Was curious if they were spawning at the med bed to track you
No idea. But it seemed like he was afk. Kinda sorry for him haha
What did you find
Could not scan the rocks. But there were many clusters of 10+ rocks
One of my favourite series of ships too. I hope it gets a TLC pass soon.
Yep, they are great but you're outmatched in power / speed by almost any ship you encounter in Pyro
@ Yeah, I mostly use it as a shuttle. I hope that when the control surfaces are added and the fins extend in horizontally mode, this thing will be quite nimble in atmosphere.
9 years. Sigh. It's in my buy backs waiting patiently.
I feel you! One day it'll come out of the backlog... maybe...
Yup, have had mine since 2019 but for the $90 paid, that is a lot of SCU for the money. The Hull A is a ridiculous loaner for it. I know of a MISC ship with more SCU than that. Give me a SL Max 🤣I will take a FL Max though even at double the SCU compared to the Hull A.
Good video
Glad you enjoyed it!
I tried a new approach, recording video and audio. The audio quality suffered a little and I'm sorry for that. Let me now what you think!
As an industrial player, this ship is my main target for purchase in game.
I want to fly my space-pinata! ;-)
You're off on the cargo calculations. It suffers from the era of the 24scu default container, which was since abandoned for the 32scu standard. This is causing problems all over the place. Just look at the Caterpillar. Designed perfectly to hold a lot of 24-scu boxes, it now is a clunky relic, unable to transport the default 32, and the 16's don't fill the holds efficiently. The Hull A was supposed to hold one 24-scu container on each arm, not 2x 16. They had to upgrade the ship but didn't want to stretch it to full 32-scu ones. The Hull B was intended to hold 4x 24 on each arm, and so on for the other Hulls. How they change the B will be interesting. 4x32 scu per arm? That will increase capacity by a full quarter on an already ginormous capacity. And they have to solve the landing-with-cargo problem caused by the bottom arm plus unloading manually from the top arm. C, D and E can't land and don't have to care about this, so the B actually may be the biggest headache of them all.
Thanks I didnt know that! Interessting, as a programmer I'd say Keep It Simple. Just remove the bottom part and increase the capacity of the others. That would make the landing really easy. Hull A has 2 sides, Hull B could have 3. But we'll see I bet CIG will do something overly complicated
@Luix_OS That's actually one of my preferred alternatives, but the best solution might be to rotate all arms 45° and collapse them x-wing style to horizontal for landing.
Keep it simple and just use the same layout as Hull A. Just out to the sides. As you said, that would increase the capacity, but the price has already gone up 60% and has not really been worked on. So making the Hull A hold 32SCU crates would mean 4 per arm and 2 arms out to each side. That gives you about 60% more SCU than the original 384 SCU and $90 concept ship. Or to keep the same old count, make it hold 6 of the 32 SCU crates 3 high and 2 deep on 2 side arms instead of 4 side arms like Hull A layout.
I love MISC ships and I love hauling, of course I picked up a Hull-B at IAE ^^ ... so I really hope they work on her again soon, because the Hull-A was allready a blast to fly and do some missions with
I'd say we have to be patient with the Hull B. But it's for sure a great ship to own
@@Luix_OS Being patient comes with the game ;-), I think the biggest problem they have with her is the amount of cargo and being able to land with it. But I have the Starlancer Max as well, so I wont have a problem hauling until the B is out.
@JayNut_001 I've been patient since 2015. Hoping it'll speed up though.
The Hull A atm has 1.2M QT fuel so i think the B will have 3M in qt fuel and the hydrogen makes sense like you speculated 2000. Also the max container size would make sense to be 16SCU, to me this is the biggest SCU hauling single player ship we can get for it's capacity and size.
1.2m? Thats a lot. I'm sure there will be balancing changes. But the Hull Series should be long range. Yep the biggest fully solo cargo ship!
@@Luix_OS at the moment that's how my Hull A is, also the intrepid has the same QT fuel, in 4.0 we will see changes with the rebalancing, to me the 1.2m makes sense as you can get around stanton, pryo will be another matter, like the starlancer has 3M qt fuel at this moment.
Corsair has 5m QT fuel so I am thinking the Hull B will have like 4M but will likely be "balanced" many more times before the Hull B even makes it to game.
@@Power5 if the hull B gets 4m I'd be happy to be honest. I've been jumping around pyro with 1m tanks and it seems fine, for fighters.
yeah seems every ship can traverse from Stanton gate to terminus and back without refueling. Glad I hate the SF and never bought one cause pyro is basically our biggest system of the 5 I thought. Maybe if the revise it to scoop hydro and figure out a way to allow it to haul quantum fuel and hydro in tanks and sell to stations in pyro. Refueling there should cost at least double the cost in Stanton.
My first jump was very stressful and bugged, also that error sound! How was yours?
You missed the fact that they updated the ship matrix information, and the hull B now includes a remote size 2 turret aside from the pilot controller size 2s.
Ahh I didnt know about that, thanks But I dont see the need for turrets on the Hull B. I'd rather have tractor beams
I just hopped on the page and you are right ... but why we need a remote turret in a solo ship, I don´t know ... I´d rather have some tractor beams instead ^^
@@JayNut_001 right?! Why shoot things when u cant really move the boxes. Its an oooold concept
@@Luix_OS looks like it will be bigger than anticipated. Somewhere between the Hull A and Hull C. I’m thinking the hold up is with the planet side landing and how the landing gear will be successfully integrated with the Hull B fully laden.
@@JayNut_001 I’m always down for more features. I would like a tractor turret on the Hull B above the habitation and a defensive turret above the engine half of the ship. That would make loading and unloading boxes a lot better.
I would love to have a Hull b in my line up! it feels like the perfect balance. and it is 100% what i like to call EZ Load capacity. (big boxes that are quick to put in and are not hard to get at) for example the free lancer has 66 units of cargo capacity but most of it is small boxes you have to wedge in or is hidden in a hard to access room. it only has 32 EZ cargo capacity. Starfarer has 291 but once again most is small stuff. its EZ Load capacity is either 144 or 128 (depending on whether you want to mess with size 8 boxes which are border line EZ) The Raft and the hull A have 100% Ez load you can fill every space of their cargo grids with large boxes. loading and unloading on diamond or gold runs takes seconds and allows you more time to rapidly travel back and forth for more.
Exactly! Many ships have the problem that uneven cargo boxes and amounts make it incredibly complicated. Imagine multiple missions with 1 pickup place. Different sized boxes, amounts and destinations. The Hull B will be a gem. I just hope they get to work on it.
Refreshing to see the best cargo ship in the game in a video again.
That was the motivation! Wanted to see a video about one of my favourites and couldnt find a video thats not older than 5 years, so I made one myself ;)
I often consider upgrading my RAFT to the Hull B, but feel like the RAFT tractor makes moving cargo between ships easier.
you could save a cheap CCU now during IAE. DUR to Hull B is 5$, so in case you want it or the price changes you have it ready / in your buy back. I think both ships are amazing. But the Hull B is more for longer ranger and raft for shorter interplanetary routes. Also, dont upgrade it yet (or apply the upgrade). You'd just get a Hull A as loaner
I had the exact same thoughts, that the Hull B would be the most cargo a solo player could deliver the cheapest. That's why I think the Hull B will be my go to for solo cargo hauling.
Yes! Sadly a ship that would perfectly fit in the current game state is not in yet. We can only hope it gets some priority soon
Its kewl and all, but don't be upset when you see my Hull-E profits after selling a load of 10,000,000 units of socks in a can
Haha I probably will do 10'000 runs until you get them all loaded and unloaded so we're even ;)
good video editing. seems a weird ship size to go for one player. especially with how many boxes it is to attach and detach, doing that alone would get tiresome.
Thank you! I think the size is ideal for me, not too big but not tiny. And I just hope I get to use 16 Scu boxes, I could handle 24 Boxes. But in the end I'll probably use auto loading.
Forgot one of the oldest modular ships. The MISC Endeavor.
Yea I dont know how that happened, my bad. I did some research on it and maybe I'll create a specific video about it. But all the information is veeeery outdated and speculative. Too many "maybes", "could" and "mights" in all the concept videos
Since they remodeled the Cutlass, I’ve been of the opinion that that family of ships should have just been a single hull with a ton of swappable modules. Need medical beds? Load them onto the floor that already has magnetic locks for cargo, and clamp them down. Need an airlock on either side door? Just remove the door mechanism and replace it with a docking collar. Need a QED? Swap out the ceiling mounted tractor beam, and probably add an additional power generator as needed. Need emergency lights? Just add some aftermarket lights, but you’re going to need a permit with the authorities to use them. I especially think that Drake, this brand that in-lore is supposed to compete on price in every way possible, would choose this alternate production method to reduce costs, and their customers would benefit. This is the “PC vs Apple” approach. This is akin to how fleet-sales trucks work in real life. Need an ambulance? A tow truck? A work truck for hauling lumber? An electrician/plumbing truck? Just buy a pickup truck with a bare frame and add the appropriate box for your needs. Of course, CiG doesn’t employ people that actually think like this. They aren’t practically minded enough.
I feel the same way and I hope they implement modularity in such a way. But I think if we want the granularity you described we would have to wait another 10 years :/ I hope the caterpillar will get as many modules as possible so that would be pretty close to what you said. P.S the modularity reminds me more of Linux than Microsoft; Mac is fixed, Microsoft is 1 module and in Linux everything is exchangeable
Everyone is forgetting about the Endeavour!!!!
Yess I totally did. But the few things I found are very conceptual and old. Maybe I'll make a video about the endeavour, if I can collect enough material
instead of just modules they could sell the parts within one as prompts that we can stick into any cargo bay to change it into something else by the utility of whatever we fill it with. maybe make prefab-SCU containers that can be entered that have "modules" within them with usable whatevers. that sort of stuff already exists, players could be more creative themselves with how they want to set things up and it could probably be done much faster. instead of swapping out the whole cargo bay for something else just let the cargo bay fill up with whatever the player wants to place inside.
Yes, like repurposed shipping containers. But I think that would only be possible for a few specific type and for for refining or other bigger things
As fair as i understand they went back on the Galaxy base building statement, saying something along the Lines of it still planned, just not for the introduction of base building, unlike the Starlancer bld wich will come with the introduction of base building
I want to turn a caterpillar into a piratey/rebel feeling snub fighter carrier
Hmm I'm not sure if it can carry Furys. And all other snubs might be too long. But hopefully we get more information about modules
would be cool if they did a pass on the cat, front and modules need an update to be reaching grounds and raise up again
Yes definetly! As it was pitched in the concept PDF, the doors should be little elevators all the way to the ground. Also the cargo modules are really annoying because of their size, in my opinion
i am full on hopium on the catterpillar. Hopefully we will see it soon after the Ironclad. My ideal caterpillar could be a type of mobile base builder, where i use the command module as a shuttle service while the main body contains fabrication, refining and habitation of the builders.
Hell yea! As long as your also patient ;) Yep the caterpillar is in the unique position to (maybe if the modules exist) build bases and fabricate things and refine stuff because of the module slots. All while carrying some cargo. By far the most versatile ship!
Imagine a person gets the cat and then proceeds to make a mile long caterpillar with like 30 modules connected to each other lol
Basically build this city that saudi arabia is building, the line or something, but with 2 endless caterpillars
Nah, Caterpillar modularity was lost to the ethos. More money in selling newer ships that fill the modular roles of a legacy ship.
Yea it often feels that way. I really hope they do something with the legacy ships. And I dont just want mk II versions of them all
hell, i'd be happy if i could replace the nose tractor beam on my 315p with a size 4 gun like i can with my tana; but that's just too much to expect from CIG...
Yea same. Most of the little.older ships face these problems. I wonder if CIG will adress the rising tech debt around older ships soon
Data processing, control centre, EW. I guess Science and especially Research, seems a bit of a catch word of late. The emphasis on crafting/manufacturing bodes well for the capabilities of Nautilus and Crucible.
Great ideas! The problem is that modular ships would take over if they can do anything (be it slightly worse). And I just want science so I can use the Reliant Sen
Hopium is fail
Elaborate? Hopium is stupid yes
@@Luix_OS hopium-the romantization of a promise made to look real can make you lose your ability to reason
You forgot the Gladiator (like CIG). The torpedo bay is supposed to be modular with cargo and search & rescue modules mentioned in the ship description and lore.
I completly missed that! My bad.. I might take a look at it, thanks for the info
600i is supposed to be modular as well. Look forward to being able to swap ships around.
True! Totally slipped my mind! Hoping we get some more info in general about modularity
@@Luix_OS I recall Cousin Crows was mentioned as a destination where you can get it all swapped out at. Also they said it would take time, so nothing would be instant. I'm assuming this will end up being similar for all ship changes. Either we will have to wait to do it via the menu or do it ourselves in the hanger.
@@tj7094 personally I want to fly to a location and deliver my ship for the change of modules. I hope what we have for the retaliator is just a placeholder
First: Sir, take my Sub! Second: A Video about the Hull B would be awesome but no matter what ship i would watch it :D o7 from Germany :3
Thank you so much! I already started. But I'm afraid that it's mostly very old and outdated information
@@Luix_OS no rush :D Yeah, think many ships have a bit outdated Infos - some more and some less^^ But at the end its your Content i want to make and, I can only speak for myself, watch it no matter how dated the infos are because: When CIG didnt say anything u dont get anything new. And when u are afraid because of the outdated infos: Make little disclaimer like u already did :D U will finde people that dont get it even when u say it and wrote it over the screan in fat bold text, as always. And then there a people that know it - and at the end stay :D ... Sorry for the wall of text, u know what i mean^^ Keep the good work up <3
An animal related module would be awesome. I think CIG said taming is not coming soon but that does not mean that you could not care for (or even breed) animals in enclosures. And while most of that kind of thing might be for a base module, there is a space for a animal capture and live transport.
What a great idea! A drake caterpillar barn haha But if we ever get something with animals it will be in the far future, sadly
I wish we knew what Modules the Caterpillar is going to have. There is so much speculation it would be appreciated if we could get some clarity. I want to upgrade but I am torn between the Caterpillar and the Galaxy. I want refinery, base building and fabrication modules which I know the Galaxy has some of but I am a Drake fanboy.
Yea its mostly old and outdated information. You should also think about crew requirements. The galaxy needs 1 or 2 people more than the caterpillar to bw fully crewed. Otherwise both ships have their pros and cons
Cat modules are dead. Never happening. Neither are working doors
@@heru_ur6017 I fear that you're not wrong
CIG also stated that in the Q&A for the Avenger series that the Avenger will be a modular chassis as well after the Retaliator is functional.
I heard about that, but I didnt look into it properly But my guess is that the variants stay
Sorry but group play is very hard to pull off and very few groups can pull it off. 99% of game play is always solo. why we have to wait for stupid stuff like this to be completed
Yea I feel the same way. Being a crewmate might be quiet boring and I guess most big ships will have trouble filling all the spots
Good video! The galaxy is just a little too big for me and my friend. I wish there would be a smaller modular ship. And I doubt you'll find much about the hull B, just fyi
Thanks! Yeaa and without more information on NPCs missing crewmates might be a big problem I lile the challenge with the Hull B ;)
For smaller ship that also has some modularity you have the Vanguard or even smaller, the Avenger, it is unknown when room/pod swapping will be available on them.
@@niklasdahlgren7641 yea I read something about this. But there was so little information that I did not include it. I guess these changes are very far away
Not bad.. catchy
You made my cat jump 3 feet in the air with that music at the end.
Hahaha I'm so sorry. Was it too loud? Still figuring out the editing software :) But glad u watched to the end!
from my experience, last 3 months, under Archlinux and lutris etc, with a 3070ti and an i713700k, 32GB of DDR 5 at 6000mhz, I had almost 30% less performance under Linux compared to W11... it's also true that I don't hadn't optimized Arch (zram swap etc)... I don't know if it was because of that, but overall, the game was clearly less well optimized than under Windows.
Ohh really? I currently installed windows (new Hosas setup so I wanted an easy setuo test) And the performance is significantly slower on windows Both startup and average fps. Dont have clear numbers though.
@@Luix_OS i probably redo a test next months ;)
@@Luix_OS I setup my hosas on a windows VM and moved back to linux.
@@greghintz1848 did that work well? I couldnt configure the VKB addons (the thing with more buttons) in a VM.
