Greetings from an orthodox christian serb! Stay strong brothers! Fight on! ❤️✝️☦️
Lord have mercy on us sinners.
To be honest I don't understand how this is fasting? That's an entire meal. Even Christ, the apostles and Prophets never fasted this way.
I love this channel so much, and I'm not even male lol.
I needed this, Cant believe you're not more popular you were a Golden find God bless.
Now to find Orthodox metal mom friends 🤔 or sisters. Do you guys exist.? Pray for me
For every look at your sin…take 10 looks at Christ ☦️🏆

I'm not adept of one meal a day because I practice high intensity exercises and walk long distances a day, but I believe it's useful to losing weight and against diabetes.

How does one get that many grams of plant based protein and consume so few grams of carbohydrates in a day? Plant based protein shakes? When you increase your protein with plant based foods you inevitably increase carbohydrate consumption. Thank you for any insights.
Hey friend! When you're plant-based (which from an Orthodox perspective is only during fasting periods) you're invariably going to be consuming more carbohydrates than you would on a meat-based diet. This is unavoidable, as you stated. But the key is to focus on the high-protein plant foods, and minimise or cut out the carbohydrate-heavy plant foods (potatoes, rice, wheat, etcetera.) If you do that, it's very feasible to hit the 100g protein mark and sub-130g carbohydrate mark, without using protein shakes. However, there's nothing wrong with using plant-based protein shakes if you feel you're not getting enough from your meals. Shellfish, which are very high in protein, are also permitted during the fasting periods, in moderation, of course. Outside of the fasting periods, when meat is "back on the menu", this all becomes much simpler of course.
@ Thanks. I am an Orthodox Christian and I appreciate your response.
All in context. People advocating for one meal a day (OMAD) really need to consider that there are people who work extremely strenuous physical jobs everyday. If you have that kind of job, and you're on the clock for 8+ hours a day, I find it hard to believe the idea of eating once per day is optimal. You can't eat before or you'll load yourself down, and if you dont eat anything beforehand, you're jeopardizing production. A large amount of your caloric intake is utilized by the nervous system; there is no "toughing that out." You simply won't focus as well. OMAD is great if you're retired, relatively sedentary, rich or what not. 2-3 meals a day fits the vast majority of people much better. Personally I aim for 2, and when my discipline holds up, results are clear and fast in how I feel, look, and perform. OMAD seems to be great for a minority, in my opinion. I believe two meals fit the majority. Three is the absolute max. Four or more is absolutely unnecessary.
Personally I disagree. I work a manual labor job (construction) and do just fine on one large meal per day, in the evening after work. It took some getting used to, I’d say a couple of weeks, and after that my productivity and energy levels took off. I guess it’s not for everyone, but it’s worth giving a proper shot.
@letsreadbrothers There's a vast spectrum to activity levels in construction and the trades in general. For the vast majority of people, if they're doing underground work, cement drilling, working chain falls, piece-work, etc, I wouldn't expect anybody to wake up, no caloric intake, perform for 8+ hours doing that and be remotely close to optimal. Roughnecks on a rig? Again, I just don't see it, and definitely wouldn't recommend it. I can agree that it's definitely worth a shot depending on your tasks. I believe in fasting as much as possible, but people nowadays are contributing to a society in the workplace. It's a different pace than hunter/gathering days. If you're a package handler/order filler in a distribution center, your volume can keep you there for 10+ hours, almost entirely nonstop walking, bending over, and lifting. I don't see any benefit to doing that on a 22-23 hour fast, especially for those who work those kinds of jobs and are active outside of work (gym, athletics, kids, etc). That's also a crazy amount of mechanical work all at once for your digestive system. You're definitely not food grouping at all, so your body is required to produce many different enzymes at once. Maybe there's no repercussions over a few months, few years, or what have you. However, I do question the longevity. If you can manage, I say more power to you. The benefits of fasting are clear. I just think context needs to be inserted more in these conversations.
Behold many have missed the point of this video
Ive been getting fat, never was in a super strong state but nevertheless I am getting fat and I need to get on the move and this is highly motivating.. I used to climb trees constantly and do tons of stuff now I'm mostly stationary.. I need to learn to love walking again. I've walked 113 miles over 11 days to church the first orthodox church I ever went to and I need to get to that level of drive again, for Christ, for my neighbor for everyone
I love this channel so much. 61 and Orthodox here. Finally learning how diet and exercise go hand in hand with ceaseless prayer and constant fasting. Glory to God!

The Greek "askesis" simply means TRAINING, including that of athletes and warriors. The first ascetics were certainly men of this type, often from "barbarous" peoples close to the prehistoric urheimat of Arctic Circle Eurasia like the heathen Scythians and other Aryan tribes like the Azeris, Jatts, Kailashis, Ossetians, and other descendants of "The Milk Drinking Charioteers" who authored the Vedas and earliest Persian scriptures alike. Even an age of atheism would STILL need some men of a kind of ASCETIC orientation, because where the conditions are right for ascetics to appear as counter-examples to the most extreme degeneration of a dying society, something about "denying/disciplining the flesh" or human ego speaks to even the most natural sort of spirit or inner orientation. A worker who fasts to be more efficient because he knows he can't be sluggish after lunch break, for instance, or an accountant who meditates for clarity and celerity of memory and calculation, is STILL an ascetic, even though he may not have a spiritual or transcendent goal or specific aim of attained consciousness.
As a woman, I agree🙏🏼
Dude. Directly calling me out with that Pepsi Max. I've been intermittent fasting for years except for the accursed pepsi max.

At age 62 eating OMAD has lowered my blood pressure. Studies have shown that fasting lowers blood pressure as well as medications do.

Everyone's body is different, I think if you're eating unhealthy food maybe just once a day will cover your caloric intake. If you're eating natural healthy food, you would have to have multiple meals a day. Of course if it's for spiritual reasons there's nothing wrong with one meal a day and training your body to be more adapt.
fasting isn’t healthy, used to do it a lot and subscribed to ray peat philosophy now, far superior
