CAT 3126 Fuel Injector removal. The long Version. #long #cat3126
Removing fuel injectors in diesel trucks can be a drawn out task, especially if you’ve never had to remove one before. They are tough to pry out but it can be done if you know what you’re looking for. This particular one is in a CAT engine. It's pretty straightforward.

Outstanding 👍 👍
I just realized my tractor be in the wrong spot, smh
Where did you get the bed from? The exact fit?
So you don’t mention at all that the engine you are showing is too much or not?
My 2.7 litre non turbo kia j2 diesel has enough blowby to make to oil cap dance but there are no fumes just air. Ive heard that some blowby is normal on a brand new engine. My engine has 200000 kilometres on it should i be concerned or is that nothing to worry about?
Is that the oil rail plug on a cat heui system?
Seriously wtf
Caterpillar c7 engine i know these engines like the back of my hand school bus mechanic here for over 25: years now we have Cummins great engines until the injector cups crack then its big money and a lot of downtime

You should clean the plug before installing the new o ring and it’s not a bad idea to locktite the threads on those, they like to leak around the threads.
@@johnliford6184 you’re the first one who has said that, without sounding condescending. But to be honest John I was just in a rush, was trying not to miss out on some money. When I’m not pressed for time I do things a little better. I’m taking notes though.
that looks like a c7
@@7.3PSDA2 it’s a CAT 3126 but did you know that the C7 was just a slight change from the 3126. They basically have most of the same parts. Same filters and all. Think the injectors are different though. C7 is just newer.
@ Yes i couldnt see the intake side. i have both c7 and 3126E the intake side of the head is larger on the 3126 then the c7 the injectors are little different the head on the c7 flow wise does flow a little better. the rod journals on the 3216E are a tiny bit different as well. the tuning is also different plus if the engine is from a school bus or a say dump truck the engine mounts will be different and the oil pan and sump will be different. most school busses have front sump were the dump truck and box trucks have rear sump. the fly wheel on the school bus also is different. its inset about 1/4 inch.
@ now you’re teaching me some things. Leaving here with more than I came with.
Hell yeah that Doug house was coving a 3126 cat Heui engine. High pressure oil galley plug. Proud of you bro most drivers these days would have taken it somewhere and overpaid to have someone like me fix it.
@@johnynaegle6297 Johnny thanks for the head nod. Learned something new, “oil galley plug”. New term I get to throw around lol. Yea man I’m an owner operator, so I take pride in being able to fix stuff myself. Once broke down in Minnesota needing an alternator on my box truck with a C7 engine. Pulled up to a Napa. Finally I see someone use Brake parts cleaner when checking for an oil leak. I want to see the area CLEAN , not just wiped. Good job doing it the right way. Don’t gotta do nothing but the area. People act like a can of brake cleaner which can create the visibility you need and save you a bunch of time is wasting money but will stare at an oil soaked motor checking for the leak to be fixed.
@@alexandergunaka666 Yea brake cleaner will clean an area up quick and it dries fast, that’s what I like most about it. I usually catch it on sale 2 for $7. And I’ll but like 10 of them. I wear gloves alot and I use brake cleaner to clean them as well as long as it isn’t holes in them….. They’re giving me a lot of flack in the comments, because I failed to use the break cleaner to spray the oil galley plug after removing it lol Was a little in a rush.

Is that a cat 3406
Looks like a 3126. It's a HEUI engine, the injection system was codeveloped with Navistar for the 7.3 PSD.
That ain't no Navistar motor dude.
@@jeffreyadkins5014 That's why I said it's a 3126. A Cat 3126. The injection system was codeveloped with Navistar, the injectors are nearly identical to the 7.3PSD, the compression tester adapter is the same (goes in the injector hole). Cat and Navistar have quite a bit of combined projects, for better or worse, including the CAT branded truck.
Sorry I miss understood
@@jeffreyadkins5014 That's fine, I appreciate you coming back for that. I don't mean to come off as snarky, I've just dealt with so many fanbois of various brands, especially in the diesel engine world, that it absolutely blows my mind. Whenever I see an engine, no matter what color it's painted, it's broken, so they're all kinda crappy to me. It's a paycheck though.
Needs thread tape
@dogdue4588 Highly possible. If it starts to leak again. Will definitely put some on.
@@Masskular Good job my friend. I dont think I would put thread tape on it. It could get caught under or in the o ring causing it to leak. The o-ring is all you need and torque it down. Stay safe friend.

@@CoastalFix-It Mannnnnn without the dog house I don’t know what kind of magic would have to be done to change it. Maybe from the ground with a long ratchet. I just can’t even imagine the nightmare. Especially with the oil coming down right on you lol
@@Masskulari did a 1999ish Saturn SL1 probably 7 or 8 years ago now, I was told the engine rear seal was leaking and to replace it so I removed the engine through the top of the car (I did this on the side of my house), I replaced the rear main seal which was very easy once the engine was out on that car (the engine was not easy to remove) then I put the car back together and the car was still pouring oil out on the ground... I thought I got a bad seal but I managed to look through the little small inspection hole on the bottom of the transmission and I noticed with the car running it was actually coming out from above the seal and it was pouring down on top of the seal and leaking perfectly down the center of the engine... Out came the engine the second time although this time I was much faster considering I just did it a few hours before, Long story short The oil galley plug in the back of the engine was about one turn loose and had no Teflon tape or seal or anything like that on it, It used an allen wrench just like the plug you just did except it was smaller obviously being on a small car. I ended up Teflon taping The oil galley plug and I cranked it down with a 3/8 long handle ratchet I'm shocked I didn't strip it... I gave it back to the customer and not more than 24 hours later she rear ended another car totaling the Saturn, at least I see I'm not the only one to deal with a leaky oil gallery plug.
@@AtomicReverend Man I know you was slightly annoyed for having to take the engine out twice. It’s always easier the second time around though. Not to mention the customer crashed it lol All that hard work for that end result. Your situation was one of those oddities but I bet you’ll never get stumped over something like that again just because of that experience. Too bad the Saturn didn’t have a dog house.
