Naim pays the Chinese producing it less, but has to carry a chain of dealers, taxes, customs, etc. until it reaches Your shop. The thing in my video is sold from the factory straight.

I once worked at a hi-end audio store. I saw the purchase invoices. The typical retail markup was 40%. So a good amount of profit for the store!

It depends a lot on Your speakers. If they are less efficient like lower than 88dB I recommend the Dartzheel Clone NHB108

@@HoomanR17 very crystal clear, but it has less power, speaker should be over 90dB eff and not 4 or less Ω

Yes, except the bypass cap is now only one, but the one in the new sounds better. The rest is unchanged

Hum comes from Your house power, made by things like AC or router. There are cables to block ground from contact with the housing. I generally advice separation transformer, this is the cleanest way, my unit is the PeakTech 2240

The SA4 are tubes produced for BTB, Michael has his own supplier for these. TAD is having a similar product. As far as I know there is only China left with producing tubes, Russians are out of the market recently.

@@iam_mad I have both the SA4 and the Genalex and they are exactly the same, except for the rebranding. TAD tubes are also just hand selected and rebranded tubes. Btw I think 6SN7 is the best signal tube for the MP-701. At least in my set up.

Hi , I’ve same experience. After 4 days it died. On the pack there is special compartment with spare fuse. You can try to replaced. I did that and fuse keeps blowing. I tried about 5 fuses and cables, no luck. Did you resolve your issue? Thanks

@@maskapl hi wel i ordered via Alibaba and has big issue sending it back. I had to pay for that myself. Wel didnot do that. Send my fn300 to repair shop and they found transformer broken. Hmm so contacted the manufacturer. Made a deal they would send me new transformer and an other fm300 on a 100 euro discount. She was going to let the engeneers test the fm300 extra. Wel this was the best u could do. So paid them . Will have to hope this thing is better and let repair man add the new transformer . If all ok i have two fn300. I have a pre- amplifier from same manufacturer. That is a fantastic device. Amazing sound. I run it with a 20 dollar Chinese digital amp and it sounds better then an onkio amplifier.

Fuse broken then that big round thing was broken.

These will be not really good with the OC845. I would strongly recommend the combo of FM300A with the MP-701 as Pre amp, there You have power and the sound of a tube. Matches best with 12BH7 tubes or ECC99JJs

It is defenitely more the old fashioned Sound You would like, but it lacks a bit of deep Bass suppoert, when it comes to less efficient speakers. For efficient speakers its a very fine Amp.

@@iam_mad they are 7 pin and not 9 pin anymore so it's a whole different set of compatibilities I believe. Regardless the thing sounds very pleasant and makes me interested in trying a "real" one some day 😁

The MP-701 is making an excellent Job on the Dartzheel with the settings as I explianed, but I recommend You 3x 12BH7 tubes and the russian 5U4G, not the Linlai !

If you go to his channel page, under Videos, Latest, you'll see that this video posted 9 months ago is the latest one that he has posted on this channel. That's a long time without posting a video, so it may be that for whatever reason he is not posting videos to this channel or at least not for the time being. His channel page does not have a Community tab, which would be where many UA-camrs would post a message explaining why they will not be posting videos to the channel for some length of time or forever. So, we are left to wonder if and when he will return, and to hope that he is okay.

Thanks for Your comment! This is not the real sound, You hear here, it is impossible to reproduce the real flavour of magic through the UA-cam mesh. It is supposed to give You a hint of the Petit´s agility, speed and how deep the bass can go. I will for sure go to bigger full range drivers later, as 16cm Lii Audio and 30cm...

We have left the plains of the sabertooth tiger, mammoth hunt, cave living, treble and bass adjuster. If You look for these, You have a far way to go, sorry, but I cannot advise here, the amount of advise You need surpasses my writing capacity. But my videos should help a bit! 😉

@@iam_mad Thanks for the reply but it's kinda insulting and silly. If I make you a "perfect" meal and you think you would enjoy it with extra pepper, then you would be daft to take my word for it and eat is I say it should be. No bass and treble also demands that everyone has their speakers at exactly the correct height and distance from walls and that we have acoustically adjusted homes. What about people with hearing loss, someone may not perceive treble properly and needs to raise or lower it. It also demands that the recording engineers and producers and sound tech have identical studios so that all records are mastered at a standard rate. It also demands that every artist or engineer knows what they are doing. I like the clean sound with a pure signal path but simple bass and treble are as necessary as a volume control. Not every record is a piece of art. Domestic acoustics and personal taste are of greater importance then an obscure opinion that says you should listen to it how it comes off the platter. To continue the food simile if you buy a sandwich and it has onions which you don't like, do you eat the sandwich or do you take the onions out and then enjoy the sandwich?. I had hoped to get advise about trying a used equaliser or tone box and how these could be used without a pre - amp output. I guess I came to the wrong channel. My bad.

Hi, no the OC845 is being replaced by the MP-501 here, but the FM300A You best combine with the MP-701, as You can see in the corresponding Videos!

I know (no need to predict) the 6SN7 is sounding bright and with no body, so better don´t 😉

@@iam_mad Did you listen exactly Linlai model E-6SN7? I'm asking because using Linlai E-6sn7 + Cambridge ARX100 + Monitor Audio 300 floorstands pair... So many time I have to control the lowest frequencies! Another question is that any tube has different sound... So, any 6SN7 will be "bright"? Would you tell us your set-up, such as speakers, Amp?

Hello Sebastian, ......depends on what you want ...for most natural tonality .......the regulars ( paper only ).....for more punch like rock music etc ,the paper and foil, a good compromise , paper and thin foil.You can also mount these capcitors in Super E mode , that means two capacitors inversed in // ( Non inductive ) , One can shield them with copper foil
