    so I apparently posted on this a year ago. But what a fantastic song, the whole band is in on it and having fun. This is a great example of why it is worth going to concerts. Fucking A.

    An epic weekend of fun on my 56th birthday October 9. I made reservations in April when they announce the concert. We stood at Indian Wells $250 a night. Perfect weather, Friday night, Bob Dylan and the Rolling Stones. Saturday, Neil Young, Paul McCartney, Sunday, The Who, and Pink Floyd. Truly one of the most amazing weekends in my life!

    Thanks for posting. I was on some edibles but at the time I said this was the best song I had ever seen in concert. And I've seen a lot of them. 33 Grateful Dead shows among them and 7 other Neil Young concerts. My wife and I agreed that the best show of the 6 was Neil and Promise of the Real. Although the Who were awesome as well.

    My favorite band playing with Chris Stapleton. Fuck yes! I've probably only discovered Chris Stapleton in the last couple of years, but he's so incredible both as a singer and guitar player. To me, he's much more of a blues artist at heart than he is a country artist. Especially the way he plays that guitar. Sometimes I Cry is a good example of that. Can you imagine him singing Stairway to Heaven??? Maybe one day. Brandi rocked it too. Great

    Ok here goes.. Not getting into comparisons, but I just viewed the original ol' video for Hunger Strike...seeeing those fresh faced kids Vedder and Cornell, themselves not yet knowing the impact their music would have on the world...that was after about 4 hrs of unexpected, unplanned viewings of last night's show. It was about a minute in when I was driven to an absolute and utter Old Testament level storm of tears. For Andrew Wood, Kurt Cobain, Layne Staley, Mike Starr, Tim and Jeff Buckley, Vic Chessnut, Mark Linkhouse, Nico, Jeffrey Lee Pierce, Darby Crash, Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison, Jimi Hendrix, Ian Curtis, Hillel Slovak, Amy Winehouse, Dee Dee Ramone, Gram Parsons, Kristen Phaff, Jonathan Melvoine, Prince...for my personal friend and former musical collaborator Scott Weiland, and of course the majestic and incomparable, otherworldly, beautiful man that was Chris Cornell. Casualties of a lifestyle or life that conjured up symbiotic darkness and light...The opiates, the intentional and unintentional suicides, and the songs that were like paintings of the blissful nod that gives and gives, until it takes everything and all. While grateful to be alive after living that life- since the days of first hearing the rumblings of Seattle...I was that tenth grader already fronting a band, who bought Soungarden's Louder Than Love because I thought the LP cover looked fucking rad. Yup it was just Chris in black n' white, all hair and combat boots attitude. Who knew in '88 this man had yet to even reach his musical puberty??? As I battle the battle that never ends, watching this footage I had an ironic breakthrough of tears for all our fallen comrades, so many gone, but never forgotten. This is the first time that I was ever compelled so deeply to take to the task of a UA-cam comment. ....Opiates, Suicide, these are things that can be synonymous or not.. both have hovered over this boy's body and soul for half a lifetime. It took a full year for me to confront the end of Chris Cornell and quite the shock of a catharsis of mixed emotions, melancholia, pain, tears, and joy....This message is my grateful tribute to Chris, and to all those out there like I, still suffering with depression, addiction, and the solitary suffering that goes with the territory of dope, art, and the sensitivity of the souls that tread these sad waters.. the beauty, the ugliness, the bliss, the tragedy, the losses, both the fond and the awful memories, and the will to keep up the fight... Hunger Strike...how aptly put. Reach into your rib cage, Mother. Grab that Love Bone, and try HARD to make it another day... this fight is a hard fight.... Oh...and thank you Courtney Love and Billy Corgan, for NOT BEING IN THE BUILDING. Miley Cyrus gets your slot. And she OWNED IT. Funny how that rings true. And to Perry Farrell a survivor, thank you for the penultimate performance of the evening. You were my worst influence in lifestyle, and best in art and music. Your rendition of Cochise gave me the strength to endure a half hour of tasteless Metallica posturing. Yeah sorry- Dear Reader, 'twas never gonna all be bittersweet.. had to get SOME bile in there. Kinda like a Soundgarden record... Peace, Love, and Deepest Condolences to the Cornell family and bandmates. And Chris...SAY HELLO TO HEAVEN. With love, -DOGHEAD CANE.

    They should've picked another singer to go along w/ Stapleton on this one. I'm sure she's a good singer but she messed up the whole vibe & flow w/ him. He had the right chill & grit; she seemed like she was on a mission to simply be louder & way off tone. Its just not right (at least her part).

    • @jshannon2k8
      @jshannon2k8 5 років тому

      Totally disagree. That's exactly what they were going for. A contrasting duet, she sings the high parts and he the lows. If two people sound the same and sing over each other it's completely dull. This was even better in person.

    • @kathleenolsen9590
      @kathleenolsen9590 5 років тому

      jshannon2k8 i understand the concept (as I love the original). Cornell & Vedder did their separate parts but they also still meshed perfectly together. Perhaps she could've tried harder to remember that she was singing a duet & to be more in sync w/ him. She started off ok but then went way, way off base (& annoyingly loud & off key/tone).

    • @jshannon2k8
      @jshannon2k8 5 років тому

      @@kathleenolsen9590 still disagree. This performance didn't really conform to the original at all. She opens by singing Eddie's part, then he takes over Eddie's part and she songs Chris' part. And if you listen to the original, Chris is singing loud almost screaming, but it's recorded where it's less audible. You can't blame her for singing loud when that's how the original is done, maybe the guy working the mixer could have turned her down a little if they wanted the effect of the original.

    • @kathleenolsen9590
      @kathleenolsen9590 5 років тому

      jshannon2k8 All good points (especially about the sound engineer. That could’ve made a difference). On the technical note, Cornell does originally start the song out though so they kept true to that. But still, it’s really not that big of a deal. I didn’t care for it but you did & that’s ok. That’s the great thing about art; there’s something in there for all of us.
