Miners Killed in Explosion - Abandoned Black Bear Gold Mine Claim
Join us as we venture to an abandoned gold mine dating to the mid 1890's that offers some of the most incredible artifacts and views in all of Western Washington. We factually name this mine the Black Bear as this is the recorded historic claim name. In 1897 a tragic explosion took the lives of two miners, of all the abandoned mines we have explored this is the only one we have encountered strange events. This is the first and only time we have ever made a reference to anything unexplained or paranormal as that is not what we do or are about. But it left the question, is this mine haunted?
THE MAJORITY OF THE MINE NAMES ARE CHANGED OR ALTERED IN OUR VIDEOS TO PROTECT HISTORIC ARTIFACTS AND PREVENT THE SITE FROM BECOMING A NUISANCE SITE. IN SOME CASES WE HAVE BEEN GRANTED PRIVATE PROPERTY PERMISSION AND WE HAVE BEEN ASKED NOT TO DISCLOSE LOCATIONS.
Many ghost towns, mines and other forgotten historic sites in Washington State have already disappeared from history and many more are being lost each year to the ravages of time, wildfire, vandalism, and intentional closure. In addition to our many years of photographic documentation of these important historic sites we are now attempting to video document as many sites as we can so there is a lasting record of these places for future generations.
We hope you enjoy what we do and will join us on our adventures through a bygone era of Washingtons rich history. Not only do we love the history we explore and document, but we truly enjoy sharing these sites and experiences with our followers and viewers.
We appreciate you and thank you for Watching!!

Sadly, you can't tell anyone of your passion for exploring; I don't even talk about the places I go hiking to, let alone any mines I explore. Everyone is so full of preconceived horror stories and fears that everything that isn't paved or concrete is unsafe. And they don't mind telling you all about it and all the ways to stay safe; you wish you never opened your mouth. I was looking through the comments, and you're getting quite a following of armchair explorers going for your videos, and you just might change the stigma (?) a little of what society places on the dangers of places they know nothing about except their own self-instilled fears of the outdoors; good job!

It's a wheelbarrow mine, that's why the boards are running up the centre of the adit, used to make rolling the barrow easier, hence the possible lamp on the rusty barrow (illuminates the planks)

From an "imagined" thought process of one of the miners back then - "we spent a lot of time and effort hauling stuff up here on the chance that it would be worth it. The mine is played out, as far as we are concerned so eff no we're not going spend one dime on "cleaning up".

Excellent video documentation and research re equipment. I saw a lot i hadn't seen before. Would suggest you watch abandoned and forgotten places. GLY has a great way of presenting the commentary , tone of voice, etc. which makes it more interesting. You're 36:37 speaking in rather a monotone. Don't quit, however, you learn as you go. I admire your courage in putting your feet down in water of unknown depths to present us with the opportunity to see what we'd never see if you weren't so generous with us. The long hikes, the danger, to preserve for perpetuity what could be lost forever in the future. I respect you for ALL THAT YOU DO!❤

But I would like to mention 1 thing, I don't know if you follow David Paulides and his Missing 411 books, movies and his daily podcast but he has found that a lot of people go missing in Boulder fields and what you are hiking through at the beginning so I just wanted to say to take extra care when going through these types of terrain. Cheers
