srb2: aerial garden speedrun [trip] - 1:45.68
if you could see a trip speedrun on any level, what level would that be? i wanna try doing requests, but i've held off doing so because i don't really wanna run 20 different sonic alts when there's only one that actually appeals to me. so, i decided to compromise by asking for stages to do with a specific character.
this run was recorded in 2.2.13 because i like how the old texture looks on agz vs the new one. i like how the new texture looks, i just think the smoothness of the old one works better for older stages, where texture variation was... less relevant. also, it's a little bit of protest since changing the texture of the same name means mappers who used this texture are now forced into a texture they didn't intend, which i'd argue can bastardize part of the vision of their maps. that's really poor etiquette from the same people who posit that srb2 is an "art community" where we can share our visions freely, yall should've made a different named texture & used that here instead of forcing your vision upon various maps.

so there's a little joke category in the speedrun community where we get specifically 1 emerald before beating the game, appropriately named "1emerald%". i thought that i'd take the joke a little further and apply it to il runs, which led to some fairly interesting routing that you usually wouldn't see (at least in tails' route).

i can't believe trans women can wavedash vivian is a wonderful mod with really good flow and, pun aside, stylish visuals. as of v1.2, she can reach incredible speeds (over 1.5x spindash speed in 4 jumps) and i figured i'd show that off in a run in case she gets toned down in the future (which would be nice, speed is fun but it feels overblown atm). i've been having a blast with the mod, so down...

I'll pick my 3 favourite levels from the SUGOI triology: Orbital Complex from SUGOI Illumination Aerie from SUBARASHII Morning Heights from KIMOKAWAIII You're welcome to play these levels in either 2.1 or 2.2; whatever works for you, honestly.

the amount of ground cover with the speed shoes was CRAZY
I didn't know they changed the AGZ texture in 2.2.14, and now hearing about it I have no idea why they would do that. Makes me feel better about holding off on updating. The run itself is very cool, nice to see some ceiling climbing. If I had to recommend one stage to speedrun, it would be Frozen Fissure, I think it could compliment Trips' climbing nicely.

tbh this is the first instance i've found ceiling cling to be useful in a run, since most of the time she wants to spindash or climb to get to the end of the level the fastest. would be cool if more ceiling clings come up in routes tho

What's the SH key?
It was the shield button key in 2.2.14 I say "was" because that update was quickly removed and replaced with 2.2.15. The reason being that it broke a lot of mods, so they're saving it for the next major release. (2.3 iirc)
I just love that you can move through the small cut scenes. Reminds me of this in Sol Sestancia.

I think this run shows just how fast Trip's climb really is, like she is _speeding_ up those walls. I think its around twice as fast as Knuckles' climbing. Overall great run, the blind movement during the buttons section must have been a huge pain.

thanks, yeah i'm doing it more or less alone. i have old routes to base everything off of, and sometimes it's just verbatim of those but i at least try a couple of my own different reroutes & optimizations before i decide the best route

I always figured you could do CEZ2 in one trip, but you basically had no incentive to do so before. The routing is interesting. I'd love to play around with it sometime. 30 seconds is a not of leeway too.
