A surfboard made from Tequila and Sheep's Wool
In this video we turn a waste byproduct of the agave plant into a 5'8 retro fish surfboard, as well as glassing on some sheeps wool keels.

Nice looking board. What's the actual weight and approximate volume of this thing at the end? What was the density range you bought this blank in? Couldn't you have gone away with 4oz on the deck and 4oz on the bottom ... or maybe even 2oz? I mean, heal dents on the deck are not the end of the world, aren't they? And is there a way to fin out epoxy for the hot coat as it is possible with polyester resin? Cheers!
That is a gorgeous work of art my friend! Keep shaping bro! Your brand is going places!
Love this, it's fantastic!
Amazing work James! 👏 Agave is definitely the one! Love the fin plug detail too. 🤙
Thanks Frankie 👐
Cool vid, beautiful board. I would have like to have seen the finished coat polished, I think it gives them a better look and feel it gives a smoother flow.
Thanks! Polished surfboards are very nice, I do agree. However, one of the downsides is that they show scratches very easily, so for me personally that's why I like a sanded finish. Thanks for watching
Well done. That stringer is awesome and the poppy is a nice touch 🍻
@@kc72186thanks. Glad you enjoyed it
How does it handle on the waves? 🤔
Actually love the finished product! Very interesting choice of materials. keen on trying it out myself. I’ve built a wooden board out of redwood beams that I’ve chambered to make the board buoyant and much lighter, I think taking that approach with this material would eliminate any off gassing and also even further reduce weight. I’ve got a video on my channel how I built it, check it out if you’d like. Would love to hear what you think of it. Hope you’re getting waves mate!
Thanks! It would certainly reduce some weight, but to be honest this wood is insanely light to begin with, a bit like balsa if you've ever got your hands on that. I'll check out your video 🙌
Stunning and engaging. Thank you for sharing your art. The manner you presented it really swept me in to the process.
@@sassischassis7187 appreciate that! 🙌
Love how you made a shipping container into a shaping bay
@@onemiketheartist thanks!
its just amazing ❤
@@MrZensoner thank you 🙏
@@Whitburn.Surfboards noticed your siam park shirt, so greetings from tenerifé 🤙🏼
@@MrZensoner well spotted! I was there earlier this year in the north to surf. Managed to check out the waterpark on the last day, definitely worth it!
@@Whitburn.Surfboards i moved here to the north last year, so now i'm blessed to surf at playa del socorro every single morning 🙏
what a besutyful work, you created a real treasure
Love this, so therapeutic, more of these vids 🤙🏻
@@Wellssshhhhh thank you! I just uploaded another one, so feel free to give that a watch too 🙂
What a brilliant idea, with a absolutely killer finish
@@jesseleach5105 thanks!
great looking board! i love the sentimental poppy. but how did you deal with the raised stem of the flower when sanding? you didn't get burn through?
@@JasonLovering great question. I put a 4oz glass patch over it, and then did a hot coat over that, meaning when I sanded I could blend it all into a flat surface. It's not actually flat, but you'd need a micrometer to measure the raised bump haha
Hot coating the stick, shining like a glizzy gobbler. Nom nom nom
What a beauty!
Glad you enjoyed it 🙌
Straight money dog!

@@surdoemudo thanks 🙏
sir i do have printable template of that? can i copy it? thank u...
@@champtiangson58 I'm afraid I don't have a printable file, but a good starting point would be to visit 'blending curves'. They have many board templates and you can select the sizes and then print them
rad
Awesome board!!🤙
Great board man! Turned out beautifully. and love the focus on sustainability are reduction of harmful materials.
Where d ya get the modified Makita planer from, and , do you use a regular blade or a 'grit' style barrel?
I modified the planer myself. Currently modifying another planer, this time a Hitachi p20sb. I use a grit barrel, which I find especially good with EPS foam
Thanks mate@@Whitburn.Surfboards
I use an 18v at the mo. No cable to constantly get in the way and drive you nuts. But.... batteries don't last so looking at 230 and a mod. Great looking board , like your technique. 👍👍👍 As for the stringer, that's just something else. 👌
@@timdale4047 cheers mate! I used an 18v for a long time too and no cable was nice but the constant battery changes was a deal breaker for me. I have a Hitachi for sale if you are in need, or if you want to mod if yourself I can tell you the parts that I used for the mechanism
I saw a kit to mod a Makita online. USD 400 plus postage. Might be best to do it myself! 😂
Wow, amazing work. That stringer looks so beautiful. That gave me some inspirations, to turn something rotten into magic. Thanx for sharing Greets from Germany
Thank you!

inspiring now. need to repair a few of mine. 😂
Haha, no time like the present 😆
Amazing content
Thanks!
brilliant
Absolutely beautiful, and the dimensions look perfect for small to medium glassy lines. A real work of art with the stringer and poppy accent. I really enjoyed the video as well, oddly relaxing to watch.
Cheers, I really appreciate that. A few more videos in the works, hopefully coming soon!
Love it! And the video is top notch, waiting for more!
Thanks! I have one coming soon - stay tuned
Amazing wow

Absolute beauty
Thanks - appreciate that 👍
Throuroughly enjoyed the process + shaping ASMR, came out great!
Thanks so much for watching and I'm glad you enjoyed it
Welp there went 30 min of my life Let’s do it again 😂more plz
Haha, well if you're learning something or enjoying it I'd say no time wasted 😉
all I could think about is all the boards I ruined because I rushed it trying to go surf :) lol@@Whitburn.Surfboards
does resin not get in the box when you glass right over like that without tape? i see it often but never understood how that’s possible
The first time I did it was by accident - forgot to tape the slot. Turns out if you saturate it carefully without flooding the slot then you can get away with it. Won't work with smaller side boxes, like futures as you'll definitely get resin in the screw hole. Thanks for watching!
a work of Fine Art = A+ ! i want to see someone surf it !!!
Thank you!
