The whole point of this parable is that we are all lost and in need of our savior to find us. You have to look at this parable as to whom Jesus was speaking, to understand the true meaning. Don’t get comfortable being the 99. The good shepherd finds his lost sheep and takes it back to his friends and neighbors not to the 99 according to the account written in Luke. Who are the Good Shepherd’s Friends and Neighbors? That’s who I want to be, I want to be a friend with Jesus and not in the 99. It is a very powerful parable.

I sang in that session back in 2007.

This was sang at my grandfathers funeral, by our local men's chorus. There wasn't a dry eye in that whole place. Still remember it to this day.
