how often do you flip the chicken
It depends on how hot your fire is, but for direct grilling chicken leg quarters, you’ll want to stay close to the grill-don’t walk away! In the beginning, when the fire is at its hottest, I recommend flipping about every 5 to 7 minutes to prevent burning. As the fire mellows out and stabilizes, you can go a bit longer between flips. Keep an eye on it, check every few minutes, and once you notice less drastic changes in color and char, you know you can extend the time between flips. Great question!
This wasn’t a fun job, but your video was a huge help. Thanks for putting in the time to make it.
My pleasure. Appreciate you! Happy to hear you got it done! 💪
when do add the wood chunks
You can add the wood chunks at different times depending on how much smoke flavor you want. If you want more smoke absorption, add the chunks earlier in the cook when the chicken is still raw, as proteins absorb smoke best in the first half of cooking. If you prefer a lighter smoke flavor, add the wood chunks toward the end of the cook, so the meat gets a subtle kiss of smoke without becoming overpowering.
I have a 2019 f550 Ford truck car hauler and there is no push button inertia switch on the passenger side door anywhere and anywhere in the area of the passenger side door does this 550 for some reason have the internal computerized inertia switch in the programming
Great question! Starting in 2011, Ford phased out the traditional push-button inertia switch and replaced it with an internal fuel cutoff system controlled by the Powertrain Control Module (PCM). For your 2019 F-550, if the fuel system shuts off due to an impact or sudden jolt, you’ll need to reset it through the vehicle’s computer. Try the following steps: 1. Turn the ignition OFF, then back to ON (without starting the engine). 2. Check the dashboard for any warning messages-some models display a “Fuel Cutoff” message. 3. Press the brake pedal and attempt to start the engine-this often resets the system. 4. If the truck still won’t start, scan the vehicle for diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) using an OBD-II scanner to check for any faults related to the fuel system. Hope this helps.
I dig the fact you hooked it up with an affordable grill not something costing $1000-5000. I have a similar setup and do alright.
Appreciate that, you can do a lot with the right setup, even on a budget!
2001 Ford expedition 4.6 rear wheel drive. Changed the Battery. Checking other stuff. Might be the Fuel pump? Idk. I'm a sick man just trying to ride out my ride till it chokes. 🙃
Thanks for the updates
My pleasure! Thanks for watching.
Oh yeah Super Bowl grilling is the best !
Hey what's up Keith, Question on the Weber Kettle Grill. do prefer the 22" or a 26" Kettle Grill or is it just a preference? Also for the Ghar-griller Charcoal Grill is it best to have the firebox to use as the smoker? please let me know. I'm leaning some good lessons. God bless you Tim Williams
Hey Tim! Great questions! When choosing between the Weber 22” and 26” Kettle, it really comes down to your needs. The 22” is a fantastic all-around grill that’s more affordable, has a ton of accessories available, and is what I’ve cooked on for years. The 26” gives you extra space, which is great if you’re cooking for larger groups or need more room for two-zone cooking, but it comes at a higher price point, and not all 22” accessories will work with it. Either way, Weber makes quality grills, so you can’t go wrong. As for the Chargriller Firebox, if you’re just experimenting with offset smoking, it can work, but understand that budget-friendly offsets have thinner metal and gaps that let heat and smoke escape. You may need to make modifications, like adding gasket seals, but even then, it won’t be as efficient as a higher-end offset with thicker metal. If you’re serious about offset smoking, you may want to invest in a more premium model. That said, the Smokin’ Champ is a good starting point if you want to get your feet wet. Hope that helps! Let me know what you decide.
how csan i do this if i turned my car to push to start...my car doesnt have PATS
When you get done smoking them and they bout done, just put them on the direct heat for a few mins on both sides get that crunch, looks good bro

Does that have a firebox? If so why not use it
Good question. This video explains why…ua-cam.com/video/B67kFQXvFHY/v-deo.htmlsi=W4DqdwEjQiiPXNVj
@ your answer is what I figured with that particular brand cooker.
Keep up the good work 👏🏾👏🏾
Appreciate the love, thanks for watching!
Good job bro💪
Thanks. Appreciate you brother!
Ours keep popping up and saying F5
To resound what some other commenters are saying here, a mixture of briquettes, & lump works for me, if I have both. If I only have one, I just use what I have. Blues Hog makes a natural lump that is pressed into hollow hexagon shaped logs. They’re nice, & work good, but pricey. My experience has been that I can use the cheapest store brand of briquettes & get the same results as the more expensive. I won’t make a special trip the store to buy charcoal. I just use what I have on hand.
Thanks dad
My pleasure. Appreciate you!
i do that too, throw in some wood chunks for flavor too.
Hello Keith, I’m Craig! Old school bbq pork steaks really takes me back to my youth, when Dad would throw some of those pork steaks (or sometimes ribs), & chicken quarters on a cheap old Sunbeam grill! And Mom would make potato salad & baked beans. Those were the days!!
Hey Craig! Thanks for sharing! I’ve got similar memories growing up as kid spending summers at my grandmother’s house. The smell of smoke from the grill and spending time with family on a beautiful summer’s day is something I’ll never forget. Thanks again my friend.
Will this work on a 2008 escape ??? I don't see the ignition switch
I think your vehicle might have a different type of ignition switch. Ford used the ignition switch (like the one shown in the video) up until about the early 2000's.
Never thought about smothered potatoes on the grill, definitely going to try that
I think you’re going to like it. Let me know how it turns out!
My problem is that I replaced the battery and the cut-off light on the dashboard is on, it cranks but won't start, I tried to push the button but the rubber is hard and the button looks to be a long way down it, is that normal? Should it be more on the surface or should I try to push harder? I don't think it has to be that complicated.
The switch should be in the down position to send power to the fuel pump. In order to verify the switch is working, you can use either a test light or voltmeter to verify there’s 12 volts leaving the switch when you crank the vehicle.
What year of ford f150
In the video, we referenced a wiring diagram for a 2000 ford expedition/navigator.
Video exactly the info I needed, thank Q! FORD, this engine specific....well Im stranded for the FOURTH TIME with blown spark plug(s)! NO FORD didnt do a recall on thier mistake of not putting in enough threads for the plugs. Now for the fourth time Ive not only been stranded, but have had to pay for each mechanic to fix. I cant tell you how upset financially and emotionally racking it is to be stranded.
I’m sorry to hear about your experience-it’s frustrating and stressful to face repeated issues like this. If there’s anything I can do to help or share resources, let me know.
So kind @daddydiysolutions ! I tell you what...it sounds like a lifter or Rod. I had a few mechanics/or somewhat mech. Listen. So, I'm thinking about selling this great RV...its been my home for 6 years, it's like a little apartment on wheels! The house part is great...the engine - at this point unsure. So if I can find the mechanic that wants to buy it outright from me and deal with whatever issue is going on. I've been sitting now for three days and pondering this. Any help would be appreciated. 🙏
That sounds like a tough situation, and I totally understand wanting to move on from the RV if the engine issues are becoming a burden. If you’re looking for a mechanic who might be interested in buying it outright, you might want to check local classifieds (like Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist) and list it as a mechanic’s special. Some shops or individual mechanics look for projects like this. Also, if you have any repair history or can pinpoint the main issues, that could help attract the right buyer. Hope this helps.
@@daddydiygrilling great ideas, thank Q!
This cracks me up. First, God's blessings to you! I walked from my computer after watching this video saying " please God, let it be this simple" to my 1997 Ford Ranger. And God did. It was the fuse. I previously had to replace alternator and battery connections. Then 2 weeks later the battery light came on hard and the voltage needle peg low. I checked voltage at the battery while it was running, it was low at 11.5 volts. (12.6 volts before starting.) Searched every variation of questions about it on Google. There "AI" always said first: Alternator. Then wiring and such. I ordered a replacement alternator figuring the one I just put in was defective. Replaced it. Nope! Battery Light still on and voltage needle pegged low still. Started looking for frayed wiring and connections and such. Then saw something about "fusible wire" so started watching youtube videos on that. Then it just popped in my head to search for the fuse diagrams. (No previous mention of an alternator fuse by anyone on youtube nor in any AI searches.) Your video popped up and the rest is history! 2 weeks of my Ranger sitting there waiting for a replacement alternator, when it was just a fuse mentioned by no one else. Thank you!
Awesome! Thanks for sharing your story with us. We’re glad that the video helped you fix the issue. Thanks again!
My father-in-law used to open my smoker and ask what I was cooking?. deep inside I was thinking..NOOOOOOOOOO..😅
Happy New Year Brother D! Salute 🫡 my good brother! Chargriller must have you for an ambassador because you are representing them well! If not someone is going to drop them a line and let them know! You are truly with an awesome skillset!!! 👌

Steak and potatoes mmm. I’ll be over next dinner lol, I won’t come empty handed
I got a char griller legacy on marketplace for 50 bucks because I loved the adjustable fire grate. That thing was so versatile. I used that until I saved up for a Hasty Bake. In my opinion, it's the holy grail of grills. And it will last forever. But that 50 dollar grill was excellent. Just learn your pit. Love that BBQ!
Where did you purchase you pump from?
I got the pump on Amazon. Here's the link...Drain Pump - amzn.to/3yyyQds

Kids eat the chuck roast steaks? Major chew my guy.
Appreciate the comment! Chuck roast steaks can definitely be a tougher cut, but if you dial in the seasoning, technique, and cooking process, they can turn out tender and packed with flavor. It’s all about taking the time to do it right. Thanks for watching!
