Exploring The SS Great Britain 2024 Vlog - IT'S HUGE!
The vintage dodgems looked great, in fairness it's so long since I have been to funfair that they look pretty modern to me! Shame that the weather had stopped the crowds coming out.
It did feel quite modern - though I guess their thinking is the type of rides they have - like the classic, simpler rides rather than the loud ones you see at a lot of them these days. The rain was horrendous during they day so really wasn't surprised it was so quiet in the evening.
Hello Jesse, This Bristol Vintage Wonderland looks very calm and relaxed to have a good time there or how would you describe it?! Does it just look like that in your video or was it raining before? Have a nice Thursday my friend! 😊👋🎅
It was raining all day on this day - it stopped about an hour before
Just when I thought I had seen it all, I realise that I have not. Some parts of that trail were absolutely stunning. Thanks for sharing it with us.
It's such a special place - it was 80% new installations this year so very different from previous years too.
I think the roller disco would be a bit dangerous, if I tried it I would hurt myself & everyone round me.
I'd feel the same but I guess *most* people would only use it if they knew how to roller skate (at least I'd hope so). Definitely one I'll be spectating on rather than participating! 😊
Wow! What an amazing light trail - definitely the best I have seen - loved the animations projected onto part of the castle. Thank you for taking us around Jesse! Merry Christmas! Paul
I loved the projection onto the castle - it went on for much longer than I showed too. It felt like they've put a lot of thought into accessibility this year too with things at different heights etc.
This new Bristol Christmas village looks very beautiful, especially the illuminated figures and I think it was designed with a lot of love! I hope more people have visited this Christmas village after watching your video, dear Jesse! 😊🙏🎄✨
I think its the beginnings of what could be a fab event if it gets enough support this year for it to come back, it's something a little bit different at Christmas - nice to have something new 😁
@@JessesGrandDaysOut Hopefully this new Bristol Christmas village will remain in future years, it would be interesting and entertaining if I get to know it in real life soon! Have a nice evening, Jesse! 😄
Hello Jesse, Bristol's Christmas market seems a bit more varied this year and am I mistaken or were there more stalls with different Christmas things this year? The talking moose is definitely an attractive attraction! Many greetings from Styria, AUSTRIA, Christoph 😉🎄
It felt like there were more craft stalls this year but I could very easily be imagining it (it's in the same space as last year). The talking Elk is always a fun little addition, catch it at the right moment and it sings 🤣
@@JessesGrandDaysOut I would love to hear the talking moose sing haha! 😂
Those creepy santas were awful. The Christmas market looked to be a lovely size, some of them are so huge & just seem to have the same stuff all the way round. Thanks Jesse.
Maybe Santa's fallen off the wagon 🤣 Their used to be a super sized one in Cabot Circus, I'm so glad this one is no more. It's a really nice sized market - no duplicates and lots of craft stalls. 😊
Really great this one Jesse! great watch! thanks for sharing. best wishes Darren👌👍👍👍
Thanks Darren, my camera doesn't do it justice really, it looks even better in real life. 😊
So beautiful and magical ♥
It's definitely a magical experience. 😊
What an incredible show Jessie. You captured it very well. It must of took ages to set up all those lights in the trees. Really impressed with this display. 😊😊
Thanks Martin, totally agree - I can't even imagine how long it would take to set up.
New Subscriber, I must take myself down for a look
Nice Darts 😄😄😄
It's worth a look if you're in the area or as an odd on to the market. 😊 Thank you so much for subscribing!
Nice one Jesse! i think they call that game curling, that was like a mini version of it. anyway lovely little vlog, looked like there was plenty going on. best wishes Darren👌👍👍👍 i have also popped this on my FB group somerset man walking and you have gained a sub from it Jesse👍👍
That's the one, thanks Darren - it's been bugging me since Tuesday! 😁 Thank you so much for sharing too!
@JessesGrandDaysOut your welcome 🙏
Ooooh thats new . Looks lovely. Its about time Bristol had some new Christmas stuff going on. Might try to visit one evening. 😊
It's a bit different from what everyone else is doing too with the roller rink and VR sleigh experience! It's small but a nice compliment to the market. (run by the same company)
@JessesGrandDaysOut We visited this yesterday evening when we were in town. I liked the giant bauble. It was much less busy than the other bit in Broadmead. 😊
Yes, it was much quieter when I went too 😊
Ooh! Very interesting Jesse! Something a bit different to the Christmas Market. Good to see that part of Bristol being used for Christmassy things too! Take care & Merry Christmas! Paul
I agree, it's so nice to have something to compliment the market (it's actually run by the same company who run the market and they're not far from each other so makes a fab little extra). It's also nice to see some of the castle remains illuminated. Merry Christmas Paul!
Nice look around the market Jesse. Plenty going on there for sure. 👍🏻
Thanks Paul, it has a lovely selection of stalls, rides and food 😊
Good job ..weldon
Thank you 😊
The market may not be as big as some of the others but it looked like they're was quite a lot going on. Lots of food stalls as well. We haven't been to the Bristol market for a few years now but it did look good. 😊
I think it surprises me every year - I work near cabot circus so walk past the market most days at this time of year and it always takes me by surprise how much is here when you actually take a look through it.
@@JessesGrandDaysOut I agree Bristol is a great place to shop & eat @ Christmas and other parts of the year.
I totally agree 😊
Great little video Jesse. Most of those rides look way to fast for me. I think I could just about cope with the Thomas one!
Thanks Faith, I think the Thomas one is a me a ride too. 😊
I haven't been to a fair in years. I used to love heading down with my mates and hanging out all night like in the movie grease. This looked like a sizable one - love the energy. All the best. Mark
I've been going to more recently, still haven't quite got the courage to actually go on anything though 🤣 - this one had a really lovely atmosphere.
@@JessesGrandDaysOut Ah, nice one - with all those visits it's only a matter of time before you climb on board.
'It's a hoot,' no pun intended eh Jessse. A very lively steam railway - a lot of fun what with the Owl exhibition too. They look lovely but will eat your kitten. Yeah, a great day out with some nice conditions. All the best out there. Mark
hehe, I can't take the credit for the pun, it's a great name they've chosen for the event though. It's a lovely little railway with lots of different events throughout the year 😊
@@JessesGrandDaysOut A good name I'd say. Good to hear it's busy yearly.
Some great looking rides there. I get dizzy just looking at the the spinning rides. Lol. I love the murals. A lot of talent must of gone into that. 😊
Totally agree, the murals on the rides must take hours and hours to paint. I get tempted by some of them and then rapidly change my mind - maybe one day 🤣
Looks good fun! Nice to have a fair in the window! Good info about tte tokens etc..
Thanks Louise! 😊
I think you threw the rule book away, having a hot chocolate at the start!! I hope you enjoyed the flapjack, it look amazing. That was a great video, it showed beautiful Bath & the market was so varied & colourful.
I had limited time and didn't want to go without my hot chocolate hehe 🤣 The flapjack is so nice (it's huge - I'm still nibbling away at it 😊) Thanks faith, it's a really fab place and market.
Just found your channel. Wonderful tour!
Thank you so much Christy! 🎄
Absolutely beautiful and Christmassy. Thank you 🎄
Thank you Sharon, it's such a beautiful market 🎄
Hello Jesse, Wow, this is a beautiful Christmas market in Bath or as we say here in Styria, Austria 'a real Christkindlmarkt' and the various Christmas lights throughout the city are breathtakingly beautiful! The many different scents must be overwhelming, right?! Is there a Christmas market in Bristol this year? Have a nice Tuesday, my friend! Greetings from Deutschfeistritz, Styria, Austria 🇦🇹, Christoph 😊✨🎄🎈
There's definitely lots of scents in the air - surprisingly they don't really mix together so it's very pleasant 😊 There is, Bristol's market is quite small in comparison, they've got a couple of spin off events this year too.
@@JessesGrandDaysOut Christmas markets are something beautiful, isn´t it! Will you be showing the Bristol market too with its few spin-off events as you call it, Jesse?! 😇🎄
I'm hoping too - it's partly weather dependent. 😊
@@JessesGrandDaysOut Let's hope for good weather! Have a nice weekend and a nice 2nd Advent, Jesse! 🙂🙏
Really nice Vlog Jesse, seems more spread out and lots of different stalls and music ect, really nice. best wishes Darren👌👍👍👍
Thanks Darren, it's a really lovely market - even if just going for a wander 😊
This is probably the best video that I have seen of the Bath Christmas Markets. It’s on my list to visit one day. I really like mulled cider! Flapjackery is a favourite of mine! It’s great seeing new shops pop up all over the South West! It looks like a really good mix of stalls and lots of local traders.
Thank you so much Louise, I think the Bath Christmas Market is my favourite of the Christmas markets - Bath refuses to do them the way the larger ones do and does it in a way which is uniquely Bath and full of charm 🥰 The Flapjackery flapjack is lush - I stopped as knew you liked them and the guy was so friendly I couldn't resist buying one 😁
Fantastic Christmas market vlog mate 👍
Thank you so much!
Brilliant video Jesse! As Martin says, you were looking confident and really enjoying yourself there. Birmingham isn't too far from me (less than an hour's train journey) but I rarely go there to be honest (only made one video there looking at Moor St. Station - which is well worth a look). Thank you for taking us around the Christmas Market here - it did look really really good! That fair did look a bit scary though - I am too old for that! Happy creating! Take care, Paul
Thank you so much Paul. I was visiting train stations earlier in the day but went the other way along the Wocestershire and Birmingham Canal towards Bourneville but I'll definitely be checking out Moor St at some point. To be fair (hehe) I've never heard so many screams coming from those rides before! 😬
I pressed send before you mentioned hot chocolate, hope you had one & it was really good.
I had to wait till I got back to the coach station - all the ones in the market itself had alcohol in (which I don't drink), but it was worth the wait - I think it was the nicest Starbucks hot chocolate I've had 🤣
I'm not sure you would see much from the top of those spinning rides, most people are screaming with their eyes shut. I enjoyed the little nativity scenes, the huge Christmas tree on a hut & the carousel. Thanks for heading to Birmingham for us.
This is very true, though if you can keep your eyes open the views are there 🤣 The tree on the hut always makes me smile - Bristol has something similar, though it's on top of one of the sausage huts. 😁
Thanks for the video, I visit every year but notice price increases every year by more than inflation. I guess this is down to Bham council rents. My personal opinion is the Christmas market theme is tired and dated. But in these days where it’s hard to find any Christmas feel or spirit it’s ok but needs a serious revamp I say this every year👍
I agree, a lot of the Christmas markets are copy and paste and aren't really worth special visits - if you want the festive boost you can get the same from your local Christmas market as you can from one further away. There are a few exceptions, one I visited today is much more craft orientated, lots of things to try and has an amazing atmosphere with musicians dotted around but I fear these are few and far between. Thank you so much for your comment!
Really great video there Jesse, seemed to be plenty of Stalls, rides and eating places. very informative, Great stuff! Best wishes Darren👌👍👍👍
Thanks Darren, yes - it has lots of things to do for everyone 😁
Oh, I can almost smell all those sweet and savoury smells! It looks amazing there! Lovely video Jesse! Omg! The fair! The screams 🤣🤣🤣🤣 I wouldn’t want to ride on some of those rides. Hope you enjoyed your hot chocolate!
Oh my the fair, I don't think I've heard that many screams from 2 rides! 🤣🤣🤣 I sourced a hot chocolate from Starbucks in the coach station, it did the trick! 😊
Fantastic vlog Jessie. You are looking very confident talking to the camera with all those people around you. Well done. Weve never been to Birmingham but the market did look nice even though as you said it has some things that are in common with other markets. I loved the clock stall. So many to choose from. The rides looked very hairaising as well going by the screams. Lol. 😊😊
Thanks Martin, though I had a habit of going very quiet on more than one occasion 🤣. I've been a few times over the last year or two - explored the canals earlier in the day and they are fab! I think the clock stall was my favourite - I so wanted them all to be set to the same time but alas they weren't. I don't think I've heard those kind of screams coming from Air before, not for me!
This looks great Jessie. We haven't been to Bristol Zoo for ages. 😊😊
Bristol Zoo Project is very different from their closed Clifton site - I can't wait to see it when it's fully transformed (the Gorilla area opens next year). I think it's going to have a completely different ethos - huge (150 acres) and more focused on conservation. 😁
I'm glad you got to see a red panda, they are wonderful. The Shaun the sheep are all so different. Thanks Jesse.
Thanks Faith, I think along with penguins red pandas are my favourite. The trail definitely adds something fun and different to the zoo. 😊
Great video mate 👍 I do love a canal.. I go on the Bridgwater canal with my little boat
Thank you so much, I've only really recently discovered them - love how they're so picturesque and flat! I have a plan to visit the Bridgwater canal next year. So cool you get to actually use the canals with your boat 😊
Looks like they are doing great work there Jesse👌👍👍👍
They really are, they're transforming it from a 50 acre site to 153 acres - it's going to be huge once it's fully transformed with a focus on conservation too.
That was an excellent walk & I really loved the tithe barn. Thanks Jesse.
Thanks Faith, the tythe barn is fab, I was so impressed by it!
What a lovely video, I enjoyed every minute 😊 The viaducts really intrigue me. Love the old fashioned benches at the railway stations and the herons, thank for sharing your adventures 😊
Thank you so much Jilly, the aqueducts are so impressive - it's so odd to see a bridge with flowing water running over the top of a river and railway. 😊
This was a really good vlog Jessie. I dont know if I could walk all the way from Bath to Bradford On Avon. It did look like a lovely walk & something that I will have to do in sections at some point in the future. Was that really 3 herons or was it the same one playing a joke on you by appearing by the canal at various points. Lol. Nice to see that most of the path is quiet. 😊😊
Thanks Martin, I'm pretty sure they were 3 different heron's but you never know. One of the cyclists mentioned as I was filming the second one that it was the second one he'd seen 😁 It's really flat and easy going, apart from the initial slope in Bath it doesn't go up any hills - it's probably the easiest, most relaxing long distance walk I've done.
Wow! The tithe barn is pretty amazing. Never seen one so huge! Thanks for sharing N&Nx
It's larger than I remember it being 😁
Hello Jesse, Very nice hike in a wonderfully idyllic natural landscape! For me it was the first time I saw a bridge being built over a river for another watercourse, very interesting and impressive! This little ´Avoncliff Halt´ train station is very cute and picture perfect! The only unfortunate thing (from my point of view) is that this railway line has not been electrified, but maybe that will happen, or what do you think, my friend?! Have a nice week ahead! Many greetings from Deutschfeistritz (Graz area), Styria, AUSTRIA 🇦🇹, Christoph 😊👌🏞🛥🚋
Avoncliff is a very quaint little station and the aqueducts are really impressive - they're used to so the canal stays flat and can avoid having to use locks for large parts. Maybe the line will be electrified one day but it's expensive to do so and foot bridges have a habit of getting in the way, I guess the aqueducts might pose a bit of a problem too!
@@JessesGrandDaysOut Thank you very much for your friendly and honest answer between electrifiying the railway! Have a great weekend, my friend Jesse! 😊🤝
Great watch Jesse, really Scenic! nice walk! thanks for sharing. Best wishes Darren👌👍👍
Thanks Darren, it's a really pretty walk 😊
What a wonderful, colourful video. Glad you had a brilliant time & a not too packed train home. 10 out of 10 for promoting hot chocolate!
Thanks Faith, so much colour and light! Hot chocolate is the best way to finish an evening 😊
This was a fantastic vlog Jessie. It was nice to see your whole evening rather than just shots of the carnival floats. Your camera worked well in the low light i thought. The work that had gone into these floats was stunning. They must of took monthes to make. i am hoping to go to the one in The City Of Wells this Friday. It does look like an amazing night out. The fish n chips looked very tasty. Taking the train was a good ideal as car parking must of been a nightmare.
Thanks Martin, I cranked some settings in DaVinci Resolve for the worst effected bits but it couldn't fix the flickering lights (though the paid version might have been able to). Totally agree about how long it must take to put the carts together. Enjoy the Wells Carnival - I'm sure it'll be equally good 😊
@JessesGrandDaysOut I've also had the flickering problem with some of my videos when shooting led lights. I read it's something to do with the frame rate you are using. I usually film in 60fps. 👍👍
I've seen this too - only seemed to effect some carts (I film at 60 fps too)
Great Video Jesse, i can't go to these sort of things because of the crowds so thank you! i got to go after all! Best Wishes Darren.👍👍👍
Thank you so much Darren, I'm usually the same and avoid crowds wherever I can but I make an exception for this carnival. Though even then I head to spaces where there's more open space where I'm not boxed in.
