Sounds fantastic on the first start up 🇬🇧🇮🇪.
You ought to have a gantry with either a electric winch or manual one for lifting items back in place, Especially the new cylinder head, Some people just don’t have the ability to use a tractor mounted loader with any care, The D6 components are extremely expensive and built to last, Hope you get the job completed to your satisfactory 🇬🇧🇮🇪.
This video was very helpful. However, I need to know how in the world did you get that vibration? Spring off the cylinder head. I am struggling with it as we speak.
En France
Love viewing your webcam of the cats. Have you seen the commercial where Donald Trump is talking about people eating cats? We think it's cruel to rescues like yours.
Great video and good job.
Knock the pump housing off go from other side
Do you have the cat or ctp part number for the seal kit?
nice job that is one hell of a cold start !!!
Thank you so much.
I rebuilt the Ford C6 in my van after two of them built by local shops with good reputations grenaded. The C6 is considered to be an easy one to rebuild but for someone with no training and never been inside one it was daunting. I bought a book and a CD. I built my own specialty tools. About 10,000 miles on that tranny now and it has been perfect.
Awesome, that gives me hope. I've got the rebuild kit and the book in the mail and should be here soon!
Give us an update on the d6c Derek!
I will when it dries out a little bit here!
Link to buy the brushes for this model?
Part # NA121629. Check this link but you can get them cheaper elsewhere: www.ereplacementparts.com/carbon-brush-p-2473571.html
Why would you heat the bolt? That makes it expand and harder to remove. If you could heat the surrounding metal fast enough, that would help...but you can't since it's a massive block of steel.
Thanks for sharing. Keeping my eye out for a cheap one, but people on ebay have cottoned on and are selling non runners for stupid money.
Agreed. Check for local estate sales/auctions in your area. That's where I usually find good deals. If you can get out to an auction thats 45-60 miles from a major city, I think you'll find some good deals
Thank you for speaking slowly and clearly into the mike and showing slowly and clearly what you were doing. Much appreciated.
Your channel deserves tones more subs and viewer 👍.
Interesting project, just going through the series.
Awesome! Wish you made more videos after this
Working on it!
Keep your coming... Like your videos.. hope you could make some more. I know what it's like not having time to make videos trust me
that cooler looks like its from the marine version of this same engine possibly
It is a marine setup.
That's excellent! congrats on getting it back up and running again.
DWE-402 a great grinder love it when the brushes or switch are working🤣Thanks for the video looks easy enough
Price of the pond just went up
Sometimes if you spray starting fluid in the spark plug hole you can get them to fire off, even if there are carb problems. Also, if you clean them up better and get them in good working order you can get a little more money for them
Maybe I missed it. How many hours is on it.. Looks like its been treated rough, but at the same time they are tough.
Would you be so kind as to share the partnumbers of the repair kit? I am having difficulties getting the correct kit for the exact same pump you done on this video. Here in South Africa they work on CAT part numbers but no one can give me the part numbers.
The part number I used was 2S7208, but make sure it matches your pump. I recommend getting a parts book for your serial number if you can find one
Thank you for that. Yes my pump is exactly same as yours. Can you perhaps give me all the different part numbers of the seals etc? We really struggling to get all the parts down here in SA.
What parts manual are you using? What is your machines serial number? Mine is 76A1376. And I dont even know if this is the correct serial number punched on the block.
I just bought a manual online but not sure if its the correct manual. Please help so I can buy the correct manual.
Mine is a 74A1792. I think the difference is yours would be a power shift transmission. I'm using an official parts manual like this www.ebay.com/itm/192753341078
its the same kit for the k770¿
I'd forget the batterys. Solid concrete blocks work well. A small rubber mat or kitchen carpet scrap will make the noise less and keep the blocks from banging around. Can you weld an angle brace to each side to stiffen up the hitch(and aerator). Good welder. Fun to watch.
Did you pre lube the new turbo? I have a 64 D6C and am replacing the turbo - I know on cars you need to pre lube. Makes sense on these too - but I'm new to the game. Also it looked like a lot of exhaust blow-by at the turbo on start...?
Yes, I did pre-lube - the new turbo came with a big syringe and a special oil to inject into it before installing. Yes, she smokes like an old diesel at first start but clears up pretty quick.
Just the information I was looking for! Thank you so much
Nice! I'll have to "brush up" on my DWE402 Disassembly and get this done! 🤣
Cool little cat 😊
Great work. Real quick fix. Nice!!!!
The housing has a grease relief fitting and a grease fitting if I remember correctly, So the lip of the bottom seal would face the top if looking down, then I put the water seal in before putting the shaft and bearing assembly in! Try not to touch the carbon seal or the steal seal surface with your fingers, add a drop of oil on the ring, shining side toward the carbon, and install it, give it a twist to spreed the oil! The top cover plate the seal should face the bearings, unless you do not have a relief fitting then it should face out, when you grease the pump the over grease should then come out the relief fitting or come out the outer seal! If you put the bottom seal in with the lip down it will fill the weep hole with grease over time!
💯👍👍👍🤝🤝🤝
Thanks, I appreciate the crash course. Got to admit I thought you'd have a tough time with those rings, but you got her going, and no leftover parts either, lol
I am getting ready to do pretty much the exact thing to a D6C I bought. Would love to see if I could get some part numbers from you.
Good luck with your project - I recommend searching on ebay or elsewhere for the parts manual - its pretty handy. I found mine on ebay for $20 bucks or so.
What happen to his left fender ?
Oh! That looks exactly like the same vintage as my old 74A. I have a few videos of it on here.
You have an exhaust leak where the turbocharger bolts onto the exhaust manifold.
Pretty normal for older engines to leak there a little, especially these old Cats. Nothing to be concerned about.
Don't forget to drain it EaCH TIME YOU USE IT WITH NO ANTI FREEZE IT WIL FREEZE ANDREALY CRACK THE BLOCK FAST GOOD JOB
Chek your em shut off
Haven't made it through the whole video yet but did the woodruff key get installed on the front end into it's slot?
Loved your way of using adjectives and analogies. The casual delivery is king.
Any steering clutch problems? I’ve been looking for some insight on the issue steers left but not right.
I’m planning on doing this exact maintenance on our D6C this winter. Thanks for the video- you made it look easy.
That field looks better than 50% of the hayfields I see
