Joe Leavitt's Grandma Sang To Jason Derulo at #TwitterLA today.
Our coworker Joe brought his 90-year-old grandma Dorothy into the Twitter LA office today because she was having some car trouble. Music superstar Jason Derulo was scheduled to make a visit to the office the same day. Here's what happened when the two met.
By the way, our favorite part was Dorothy asking Jason to write down his name for her so she would remember it (he did) and when she told him, "Let me know next time you're in Vegas playing a lounge and I'll come see you!"

This was a video I filmed of my mom. She had stage IV breast cancer and died six months later. It's a sweet reminder.

This is the best version of this song. 🎶
This is my favorite version!
Love you Billie. I always will.
It's so nice to hear the rarely performed verse to this tune. The only other people I've heard do it are Jacqui Naylor and the Dutch group Boulevard of Broken Dreams.
Loving her voice 😢 sad but sentimental
Dave always being sexy AF
best version by far.
So good. She was impeccable in her early years. The drugs ruined her
this version is the best i've ever heard!! thanks!!
Wonderful Billie Holiday. Such a terrific, emotional voice. Try Louis Armstrong 1931 Copenhagen for the same song. RIP Billie and Pops.
I am uite old lady and i love her she mâles me Well when i liste to her
This is my favorite version of "I Cover the Waterfront". Just Billie and Bobby Tucker on piano...always gives me chills. Thank you for posting.
Billie Holiday never dies !!!
I LOVE YOU BILLIE HOLIDAY
Carl Drinkard, Piano.
She lost her voice!
My favorite version
This version still brings tears to my eyes . I know she recorded this many times but my lord her voice and the fact it was live is so heartbreaking . Thank you so much for posting . 🙏🏻❣️
entranced i was when i first heard this. my body may be here- in the now. but my mind is somewhere else, in a different time plane.
BILLIE HOLIDAY: Deliziosa.Anche dopo settantanni!💕
Not that rare, just that special. Took me a while to find this particular take on here, my favorite for 30 years.
Yeah, transcendent. The piano player kills it as well.
This version of this song is really what turned me on to jazz and blues singers. And Billie. I wish I could find this whole album I checked it out from the Ottumwa library in April of 1978 at the age of 16 and never looked back.
The immortal Billie. She died around about the day I was concieved...
I discovered this album (and bourbon) at sixteen. Changed my life. And yes, I totally agree, this is the best version of this song I've ever heard, by Billie or anybody.
I agree this is the best version anybody has ever sung.
Away from the city that hurts and knocks, I'm standing alone by the desolate docks In the still and the chill of the night I see the horizon the great unknown My heart has an ache It's as heavy as stone With the dawn coming on, make it last I cover the waterfront I'm watching the sea Will the one i love Be coming back to me I cover the waterfront In search of my love An i'm covered By a starlit sky above Here am i Patiently waiting Hoping and longing Oh how i yearn Where are you Have you thought back time Will you remember Will you return Will the one i love Be coming back To me
hurt and MOCKS.
" Will you remember, will you return " brings tears to my eyes every time.
Best I've ever heard her voice.. lovely.
wow that is so good of a song
Superbe ! Mille mercis !
Your music is so good. DO you have any music available online?
This version is available in the movie soundtrack "SEVEN".
Beautiful fantastically beautiful!

This song has been a quarreling in my heart since I was 10... Thank you Billie... 😚😚😚
Best version, just with her piano man, Bobby Tucker. Recorded live in Boston in 1951 on a shellac record. Released later in a compilation narrated by Tucker that includes four1937 live NYC recordings as well as 4 tracks from Boston in 1951. Billie Holiday, "piano man" Bobby Tucker tells the Lady Day Story. Trip, Jazz TLP5024, 1977.
there's bass and drums they are just low in the mix
I love this song but I've never heard this version before. Wow! She nailed that dead on. Give it up for the fabulous accompaniment too.
When I first got into Holliday as a teen just getting into jazz, this was the version I'd heard on the cassette I bought with a collection of her best songs on it. Always liked this because it seemed so much modern than her other songs, and I always thought it could have made a good movie theme, since it's a nice, sad, beautiful song.
Beautful. Very beautful.
Happy Birthday Lady Day, beautiful!
You can also find this version on the Se7en soundtrack...
This version is on the album "Billie's Blues". Been listening to it for many years; not so rare! It is my favorite version, however.
It's always funny to me when people put stuff up on youtube and title it "Rare blah blah blah.." It's not rare anymore!
Delphine Kirkland I think that they were referring to the images . . . I was expecting footage of the ‘live performance’ of “I Cover the Waterfront,” like the film of Louie Armstrong singing this fabulous song. You’re so right about people taking license to say “rare” this and that!
When they say "rare" it's just because it is something uncommon and unknown to most. After all, this was a personal presentation, which makes it a "rare" collector's item, a most valuable piece. I wonder who could get it and how, but this is a reason to be even more thankful to whoever did it and shared it with us. Thanks to this channel!!!
By the way, I forgot to add that this particular version has an introduction that the recording I had did not include. This was a surprise to me and that's another reason to consider it rare, although not so much to us because now we know.
Mine too!!! Ohemgeee my introduction to this version was a la Malcolm X movie 🥰🥰
I enjoyed your clip. You've got awesome stuff. check mine sometime! :)
Creo no equivocarme que al piano esta Carl Drinkard
This song is always so raw, makes me want to scream. Amazing even today.
Your songs are amazing! Don't stop creating!
THANK YOU
Thank you so much for posting Lady Day at one of her best vocal times! xo
This make me cry she is better in heaven now she is an Angel!
Incomparable innovation. Sweet Lady Day...
