Exploring Kentucky DEAD MALL Lost In Time! | Middlesboro Mall |
#mall #explore #shopping #kentucky #blackfriday
Welcome back to the channel! This week we decided to explore a “dead mall” in southern Kentucky.
This was certainly one of the most interesting places we have been to over the past 2 years we have been filming. We truly could not believe the vibe within the mall and how unique it felt unlike any other mall we have been to. We were also thankful to have met some nice people along the way.
We hope you all enjoy this unique episode on our channel! Subscribe for more content! ✌🏾

Awesome thanks I’m from Louisville live in Florida now sweet video
@@Backstreetharmonica thank you for watching! We are glad you enjoyed it! 🤟🏼
You want to see a dead mall come to Harlan mall it’s more dead than middlesboro because the bennetts are rich and want to charge way to high of rent. It’s sad for sure.
We will definitely add it to the list to see. There are so many dead malls in Kentucky, it’s so sad.
I went there plenty of times when I was a kid, sad to see it so dead now
Yes, it is very sad and unfortunate to see this happening to so many malls. They provide so many memories.
It wasn’t always like this. I would spend my weekends just walking around the mall. We had an arcade, a music store, rue21 (at one point I worked there), a book store, an ice cream shop. Around Christmas there would be kiosks with different things like glass blowing, candies, holiday shirts. It’s sad seeing it like this
Man, it sounds like that mall would have been really fun to enjoy once upon a time!
Hello there I just came across this video and back in 2005 to 2007 I had to lived here since it was a girls group home.... And I know a lot of the history of this place and experience death myself when I here ... Sooo get in touch with me and I'll tell you
It's scarier at a Walmart that's open on a Tuesday 😂
DO NOT GO AT NIGHT just went there with my buddy’s and we captured what we assumed was a squatter. Stuff was moved around and we heard footsteps. If you go bring a weapon
Good to know, there’s always a big risk of someone else being inside of these places
Yep, this is what happens when nobody's got any extra spending money anymore. All while today only a very few selected individuals are the richest people in all of human history. But they won't raise the minimum wage to save the nation. Hmmmm.
There was a movie theatre and you used to be able to see movies for $2.00 The movies always came to Middlesboro later than other surrounding areas so it was cheaper in Middlesboro. I think Middlesboro is a pretty cool place is just a smaller poorer town. 10 years ago still 5.75 for a movie ticket is really cheap!!
We really enjoyed the area and we plan to go back in the summer to see more of it!
So crazy I was there not too long ago. Middlesboro the place that became a place due to a meteor (legend says) lol
It’s called the Crater City for a reason
I live in downtown Clarksburg but never been inside the Waldo. Thank you for doing this.
You’re welcome! Thank you for watching!! We appreciate you!
@@AmericanXplorers We are still searching for a buyer for the building. The building is structurally sound. The estimates are 15 to 20 million to renovate. It's also several million to demolish. Good luck with the channel
The Waldo Hotel in Clarksburg, West Virginia is estimated to cost between $14-$21 million to restore. The cost to redevelop the building depends on whether it's used as a hotel, residential space, office space, or a mixed-use combination.
It's a beautiful old building. I would love to see Clarksburg renovate this place. What a structure. There will never be buildings like this again.
Please do a abandoned library next in south Africa
the reason the rope will not pull is that the bell is turned over and rope off the pulley.
would have loved to hear the bell
I got 4 large bells from churches here mounted on my lawns.
Definitely everyone just orders stuff on amazon
@@Cadenexplores yes, the convenience has killed these malls
High end malls in affluent areas are doing just fine. It’s a lot of the middle-class malls that are dying out and dying out quickly. Crime ridden areas, Amazon, online shopping, discount retailers like Ross and TJ-Max and the fact that there is less disposable income is tearing the American Malls apart. It’s the end of an era.
@@bunnyblue9311 yes, it’s definitely the end of an era. Projections indicate that up to 87% of large shopping malls will be closed over the next 10 years which is so sad
Convert them to homeless shelters. They have food courts, so it wouldn't be difficult to convert to multiple kitchens. Each store could be dorms, health care, and suites. Each restroom could be outfitted to showers and toilets.
I wish people thought like that
@Cadenexplores me too.
We like that idea
That's what I said when I there 😅
It’s all I could think of
Not surprised everything is over priced
@@ericbruce658 yeah, that’s definitely a part of the bigger issue
Great video guys, as for the gate that open. Send John in with the camera And lets see. lol have a good one.
Haha well let Thomas handle that one 😂
Loved this place ❤️
Malls used to be so crowded and it's amazing how much the world has changed now. Great video and it's always eerie walking around dead malls!
@@epicexploration yes it was eerie. It was soo quiet in there. It was such a strange feeling
Still pretty clean for an old dead mall. Malls thst are open in Louisville isnt thst clean.
There are a few in southern Kentucky that are like this
@AmericanXplorers there is one upper class mall locally that rarely has anyone in it. Around 4 years ago all the malls in Louisville and the surrounding areas were always pretty busy, it's just cheaper to shop online anymore. It's also much safer and much more convenient ordering online and you don't have to stand in long lines, there are tons of factors honestly why people don't shop in malls anymore. I believe in the next ten years. All malls will be gone.
@ I’ve read that 85% of malls will be closed in the next 10 years. It wouldn’t surprise me
😊
i went for Halloween and Christmas! its so much fun!!
I would love for you to explore JCPenney! My wife and I met there! Would LOVE to see if trout art is still on the loading dock.
We will try to go back and see more of it!
You missed all the offices that are above the deli.
I watch abandoned mall videos all the time because I enjoy them. This is the first abandoned mall I've actually been to many times in my life. It feels surreal because I remember what it looked like when it was open and it feels like not that long ago, even though it's been years since I was there. It was a beautiful mall.
😮😮😮😮😮😮😮
This chapel belonged to a 4th great grandparent (just saw the comment my dad left) it’s definitely a weird feeling seeing somewhere my family owned and abandoned seemingly fast(?) do you have any info about this place? Who owns it now? Why did they leave it?
People go in there daily literally. Backpackers actually live there
What did yal do when the alarm went off i saw yal run but where did yal go?
I worked at that Toys R Us for a few years up to when it closed. That section where you got in at, Toys R Us would use that hallway for extra storage during holiday season the last year or two. When I was cleaning that hallway out when the store closed, the section to the main mall door was opened (they had it boarded up with man doors there for access at the time) and I got a chance to explore it a little. Did not go too far in as it was very scary getting dark and with all the sitting water there. This used to be the nice mall. They never had a food court to my memory, just a few restaurants spread throughout the mall. The other mall in town has the food court. Before that mall was remodeled in 2000, they had an even larger food court that was where the vacant Macy’s is.
* South East Kentucky. We can tell you ain't from around here.
I’m actually from Raceland, Kentucky and I went to school in Pikeville lolol
Sick find🔥👌
Thank you!!
I used to drive a truck out of a nearby truck terminal and used to lodge for the night at this place. 15 years ago it was a Howard Johnson's and changed to a Knights Inn when HoJo"s shut down... The Knights Inn thing didn't last long and the motel could not afford the franchise money, so they went on their own and named it Diamond. Rapidly fell into disrepair and became a cheap druggie/hooker pad and eventually bust. I heard (but not verified) that the state rendered the place uninhabitable. I stopped staying there after the end of the Knights Inn name. The actual name of that little town is Middlesex.
Great public service, free bridge maintenance. Paint is expensive these days.
Do a video exploring century 3 mall
Man I hit a double take when I saw that thumbnail! I never went to the high school because I’m 19 right now lol, but I went to the middle school! Never thought I’d see Neon here on UA-cam, but here we are, it’s a shame the town is in the shape it’s in right now.
That's not helltown. Well almost. The real hell town is past that gate in the beginning down the road. The rest that is shown is the small town of Boston heights. In peninsula Ohio. A actual real cozy place along a creek/river with a excellent restaurant called fishers. The bridge we see in the video is a mile or so away from that town that has nothing to do with helltown it's just a very historic covered bridge. The actual "hell town" is mostly destroyed and has nothing but old debris. Since the government destroyed all the buildings after acquiring the land
Not from there, but a ran around all through those ares, from Pikeville to Harlan,Hazard, thanks to Obummer,he for e the mines to shut down the cleanest coal in the world, sad, that bastard didn't try to build some other infrastructure in that area,he said, they need learn to code ,now areas that you leave your keys in the car, leave your house unlocked, now once good people were forced to steal from neighbors, couldn't afford to move, thanks Obummer, just because they didn't vote for you, they were still tax paying Americans.
This is what most buildings and homes look like here in west virginia,,so if you want to live in a place like this one and never make any good money and stay poor for the rest of your life then come and move to west virginia there make you feel right in to a loser life here 😮😢😮😢,,,
Would y'all do ghost hunting or scary shit
We do sometimes!
