Bennett Self Leveling Trim Tab Install on a 99 Sea Ray 180
Pardon my shakiness. I inhaled too many pesticides on the farm as a kid and the older I get the shakier I get.
I didn't find a installation video for these on a Sea Ray so I thought I would document mine. I had no idea it would become as involved as it did.
The Sea Ray 180 is an 18 ft sport boat with a 130 HP 4 cyl inboard/outboard. It's a bit under powered for the size and weight boat in my opinion. I hoped the trim tabs would cure some of the inadequacies but as my granny use to say, "you can't make a silk purse out of a sows ear".
The end result was it did reduce the time it takes the boat to plane and it is easier to drive at idle speeds. I was hoping it would keep the boat on plane below 20 MPH but that wasn't the case. It also lowered my top speed by about 5 MPH. The boat ran 43 with two people before and tops out around 38 now.
With two people in the boat the tabs didn't push the bow too low. With 5 people it planed with everyone in their seats so no one had to move to the bow and the bow height remained fairly level on plane.
It doesn't level an off balance load or didn't for me. With 3 people on one side and 2 on the other it lists to the heavy side.

Mercruiser 3.0 Noise?
Переглядів 4 тис.Рік тому
Recently purchased a boat with a Mercruiser 3.0, 135 HP. It is making a taping noise at idle and high idle but I don't hear it cruising. Wondering if it's a normal noise for this model or something of concern? Boat tachs out at 4400 RPMs and runs 43.5 MPH with two people, gear, and a full tank of gas.
Taking Down our Dogwood

Our magnificent old Dogwood couldn't stand the extra sunlight from having the woods cut. It got sicker every year until it needed to come down. Will need to plant a more sun tolerant tree in it's place. Trees, Tractor, Backhoe
Tree / Post Puller Adapter for Grapple
Переглядів 2762 роки тому
I wanted something smaller than my full size backhoe to pull small trees or posts. I considered buying one of the side puller options but didn't have enough need to justify it. I made this adapter for my grapple so I can pull small trees with my small tractor. It is just constructed of pieces of 3" channel iron and bolted to one of the grapple clamps. I didn't know how much if any interference ...

WD-40 Nozzle Demonstration

I think some people are misinterpreting a function as a faulty can of product. According to the MFG it is possible if you drop a can for the internal pickup tube to come loose or to create a leak that causes the propellant to leak out. Call me lucky but I have never had a can of WD-40 that didn't spray all it's contents. That frequently happens on products like paint or spray lubricant that har...
Country Way Tiller Review Part 1
Переглядів 1,4 тис.3 роки тому
6 Ft. Country Way Tiller purchased from Rural King in Leesburg FL. This is an inexpensive tiller built in china. Looks to be the same as the no name tiller sold by Agri Supply. Update: The overfilled side gearbox and under filled PTO gearbox seem to be a leaking or missing output shaft seal. Sigma sent me a seal and gasket that will hopefully stop the side gearbox from getting overfilled by the...

6 Ft. Country Way Tiller purchased from Rural King in Leesburg FL. This is an inexpensive tiller built in china. Looks to be the same as the no name tiller sold by Agri Supply. This is NOT an endorsement. I only have this short run experience so I have no idea how it will last. It seems to till as it should. The unit runs quiet enough without a load on it so I think the gears all mesh. Under lo...
Clearing Some Land

Note: If you find the music offensive get out of my cab. If you like it go to Pinkard & Bowden's web site and buy your own. pinkardandbowden.co/ A little time in the backhoe. I scoot the loader bucket along flat until I locate a stump then turn around and dig it out. Weeds and stumps are piled out where I have already cleared.

tree pulling
Переглядів 686 років тому
This was a leaner back in a hole. Pulled this little tree up by clamping between the bucket and thumb and snatching it sideways with the backhoe pivot. Didn't want to bother cutting it up so I just folded it in half and took it to the pile.

My Homemade Mower
Переглядів 133 тис.10 років тому
This is a ground powered mower idea I came up with in the 80s. Sorry I don't have pics of the original prototype or much in the way of fabrication photos. The original prototype was built by welding 3 push mower decks together. I cut the spindles out of a Bolens lawn tractor deck and welded them in where the push mower engines use to be. The rear end that drives it is from an old 240 series Vol...
nice idea. these machines are so expensive $500, saw one one ebay new for $350. some people take old lawn mower and cut off front 2 wheels front end to make brush cutter
Sure you have the right oil in it? Lot's of valve noise if you don't use the marine oil.
I've had several engine rattles on my 2006 3.0. First wash wide open throttle a screaming rattling noise . My belt was not tight enough put a new belt on and tightened it up good that solved that. Second rattle the adjuster bracket on the alternator cracked in half. You could barley see it and when the motor was running just about 1/4 throttle sounded like a rattling noise from the left side by the fuel pump and distributer didn't even hear the noise on the alternator side. But the cracked bracket was slowing the alternator to move around and the rattle noise would travel to the other side was weird. Raplaced it and noise went away.
Im thinking of doing this or maybe take a lawn mower blade and just put a single blade on it like a push mower! I will come up with something im a decent fabricator! It's good to see people are doing things like this with them and making ot work cause the one i got the head is made with sharp edges were the string feeds through and it's bad for shearing the string, i just used it for about an hr considering i just got it yesterday
Good idea but that motor has plastic gears inside u hit something tougher ur timing gear is gonna break or jump time on u
Belt drives take a lot of the abuse, actual lawnmower would probably break faster were it's directly to the shaft! Just a thought, and they bogg fairly easy like a lawn mower so it's not torquing hard at all
thinking about putting braided steel cable on mine. tired of plastic string breaking on me
Nice handywork. I can tell you dont have any rocks in your yard!
Did you find what the issue was? I have problem
Trim trees then mow.
Awesome video, we need more people like you making tutorials on this app. Old timer showing us young folks how to get things done!
Old video I know, but could be a lifter or fuel pump
Just curious if this will level the boat from side to side? If there is too much weight on one side, will it help to balance the boat out?
Never ever modified AK 47... The Rusky best Made.. it's looking like dangerous works say John Rambo ahhhh
It slices , it dices , even does curly fries ! That works great , good job !!
😢 That looks like Dangerous work... very very very unsafe.. If piece break off 😡 from the saws blades... Says John's Rambo 😅
I doubt that belt driven low torque mower is gonna shear high temp steel and grade 8 fasteners! Do you do work like this or fabricate? Or you just comment your thoughts?
Mine sounds just like this also, when I give it a bit of throttle over 1500 rpm it is not noticable been making that noise since I owned it 3 years been wondering what it is but never dove in and figured it out.
To me it sounds like a mechanical fuel pump, but don’t worry, mechanical fuel pumps will make a ticking noise as they are cam driven so that’s normal. I have a 2005 Maxum 1800 MX with the same engine and it does the same thing as here.
This is great! Thanks for sharing!
I put a 12 in blade on an extra head, can cut 3 in trees and willow clumps
Still working good? Just bought a craftsman like yours and have heavy bush I need to chop down.
You might try bolts with left handed threads like the carry type weed eaters use so your blades will only tighten depends on which direction your blades are turning.
Love it!
Chris, I decided not to worry about it. Ran it yesterday and it's hardly noticeable with the cover on. If it gets louder I will look further into it. Arcturian, Yours sounds much more erratic than mine. Mine is in tune with the RPMs judging from the sound with a timing light on it. Mine is definitely more in the timing cover region.
My ‘98 3.0 sounds exactly the same, and goes away under throttle. Always wondered this myself.. I’ve been running it 8 years now like that. Hours unknown
Im getting this on my engine. 3.0. sounds like a loose flywheel. ua-cam.com/video/ejTgRw6c_rQ/v-deo.html I removed the outdrive.
Hi, nice review. I just bought one used and I can't find a manual online. Do you have one I can get pics of? Thanks.

This is great 👍🏼 I’m gonna do the same thing with mine. I think I’ll mount my swinging blades on top of the saw blade though to keep them a little above the dirt 👍🏼
Just bought a 6 footer yesterday. Can't wait to get it home and try it out.
Make sure and watch my first video and check it over good. I finally got Sigma to send me a seal and gaskets but haven't got around to taking it apart. ua-cam.com/video/aPXYZkHydew/v-deo.html
Mine is hitting and rubbing there at the clutch. It's like the shaft is to short.
Not sure what you are experiencing. If you connected it to a tractor without a quick hitch the shaft is probably too long and needs some cut off. Make sure you have the top link adjusted so the tiller is at a 90 degree angle to the tractor or tilted slightly forward. Otherwise the shaft may contact the front edge of the tiller when you raise it.
@@roadracingmustang thanks have the quick hitch but have adjusted top link does seem to help but still real close. Have the guy coming out to look at it tomorrow. Shocked me when he said he come and look at it.
Just for comparison - I live on 3 acres with approx. 2 acres being grass. I have a Jonsered 54" cut conventional tractor-type mower (which I am extremely happy with) and it takes me approx. two and a half hours for the 2 acres with an excellent finish.
I am in intention to build One. A rear differencial axle 2m Wide wheel-to-wheel and 1meter diameter Blade. The torque Will be inverted and Blade Will Speed up. To work It out do you think that i should improve wheels grip whelding blades on the time and/or adding Wright on the axle? The lawn mower Will be pulled by a 30hp tractor FIAT 300 and Will have cut heavy grass
Nice!
we saw two exactly the same this morning, while driving my kids to school!!
A gas saver!!!
It's a bushog. And if I had a real tractor, you wouldnt had to mutilate it by modifications, you could just back up, hook and go
could you put photos or video of how you built it step by step, and what are the accessories used? very good idea, until now the one I liked the most. (using google translator)
do you have blue prints or close up pictures? I had this idea in my mind for years. Thank you. Have a nice day.
sure would like to enhance your footage! May I share it on Thirdphaseofmoon? I would be sure to credit you and your original link! Thanks let me know...
Sorry I never responded. Check your FB messages for a link to the raw video.
Awesome Idea, that trailer is so cool!
I wish this vid. was a little longer, that looked interesting
Awesome!
Awesome! I'd like a walk-around video too. There's that video description but video up close would be better. Brilliant idea!
Très bonne idée ! Vous avez prevu un système pour la marche arrière ?
Awesome work !!!
DO YOU HAVE ANY PHOTO OR VIDEOS OF YOUR ORIGINAL VERSION. IF YOU COULD DO A WALK AROUND VIDEO OF THE MOWER I THINK THAT WOULD BE GREAT. THANK YOU, DREW
