Talk To Me
Переглядів 69416 років тому
When we don't talk, we internalize, and become monsters. My third year film that I should have spent a year making, but instead spent only 3 or 4 months. Don't ask why. It was sad and frankly, ridiculous. I hope that shows in the film. See the film to see how sad I can make my films ;P :)
Gogi Ghar Opening Credits

I made this way back when I didn't know anything about animation somewhere around 1999. All of those shapes are actually tweened masks in Discreet Logic Paint* (!) The whole opening had to be broken into 8 pieces since the file sizes were obviously getting so huge! Still, I had to get the job done and it was all made within 1 week.

Surrealist Game - Falling Lizard '08

Every year, around the time of Superbowl weekend, UCLA organizes a weekend of alcohol and animation. The theme for Falling Lizard weekend 2008 was 'Surrealist Games'. Apologies to Raul, Chanya, David, myself, Salvador Dali, Rob Hubbard, Code Monkeys, Capcom, Frogger, Ghosts n Ghouls... p.s. sorry about the echoing sounds. With time running out, I only got a tiny metal room to stash David Mes in...
Lip Sync Assignment
Переглядів 1,1 тис.17 років тому
A little toilet humor. Sorry. This was a lip sync assignment for Tom Sito's class. I did this in four days out of which two I spent focusing on making nice looking characters. He gives this sound clip for the lip sync assignment every year. I tried to look on youtube for other people who might have done this assignment but didnt really find any others. Anyway, I'm uploading these only because I...

    I was president of Pakistan Students Association when HE Abbass was based in Bradford General Consulate and found him to be extremely helpful in celebrating Pakistan Day. We later invited him to celebrate Independence Day in Leeds and again he accepted our invitation. My father thanked the ambassador for his kindness towards British based students of Pak origin. I remember his wife as being an artist. May Allah SWT grant him Jannah and eternal peace.

    I enjoyed the film and the Jack Johnson song you referenced. Your film reminded me of the native American story of 2 wolves. ua-cam.com/video/JHXwPFMvaXk/v-deo.html There's also a good song based on the 2 wolves story. ua-cam.com/video/nWNdykQY6yQ/v-deo.html

    Something I struggle with when sketching characters (my own or of sources like Disney movies) is keeping the proportions straight, like making sure the eyes aren't a hair too high or the nose look off. BUT HE FREAKING JUST DOES IT PERFECTLY FROM MEMORY.

    its not phased out its been shifted to anther market such as youtube and other smaller places. But major 2D production in America is little to non cause of the unions made it harder for studios to pay for animators for 2D production and plus studios if they could produce a 2D series in keora or some where for cheaper thats where they'll go. But it still here

    Well, he's not dead is he? He just left Disney. So the guy can still possibly work with Glen Keane, and maybe work for Disney some day, just not at the same time. And why would you laugh or "lmao" at somebody else's rather nice and harmless dream crashing? Seems like a bit of an asshole thing to do....but maybe there is some other explanation.

    @RetroNoodles that's why anime is still largely done by 2d animation. I just think so much more creative stuff can be done with 2d animation. And aesthetically, 2d has great vitality and life. Besides the run of the mill anime, there are some really great anime out there if you just look for it. Great animation is great animation, no matter 2d or 3d.

    It's funny. Sometimes the beauty of well-done 3D animation just can't be done by 2D means. But, at the same time, the movement and life in 2D characters is hard to get in 3D. Really, choosing which medium to use should be the director's choice, depending on what feel they're going for in the film. Just like an artist may chose to use watercolor for one painting, and digital for another.

  • @kiranuka
    @kiranuka 14 років тому

    @oopaulorafael He did supervise it, he was the animation director, and he told all the animators to "do it their own way and to fix it later" I think Tangled overall was superbly animated, and would've been in 2D or 3D.

  • @Chaostic
    @Chaostic 14 років тому

    @oceanview1211 3D and 2D cost are almost identical, it's really an executive decision on which medium to use. For instance, Japanese choose the 2D medium,and the cartoons that come from there cost the same as the ones that USED to come from North America. With new Marvel toons coming out in 2D,I hope that sways other studios to do the same.

  • @Chaostic
    @Chaostic 14 років тому

    @neonaction I agree it is more mechanical, but not mathematical. 3D animation can be done well, such was Tangled, which surprised the hell out of my entire program when we saw it. Pixar and Dreamworks also do 3D very well. It's the ladder that does not, and that's the unfortunate part. The ladder is 80% of everything else. I know from our lectures, that John Lassedar (I probably spelled that wrong) is fighting tooth and nail with the Disney execs to bring 2D back. Let's hope for the best.

    @neonaction you caught me out there however only very few people would be able to draw the ocean and i mean people with an amazing talent and people do that today but i find taking a picture then drawing it is easier and you're not stealing anyone elses work it's your photo so you can do whatever you want but if you went on the internet and found someone elses painting then copied it then that would be cheating

  • @neonaction
    @neonaction 14 років тому

    @Chaostic as I said before. 3D animation feels mechanical and mathematical. 2D animation has much more vitality. 2D > 3D. :)

  • @neonaction
    @neonaction 14 років тому

    @MBGamingLegends Lol Painters who lived 400 years ago painted the ocean more beautifully than painters today who copied from photographs. They did not have cameras 400 years ago. lol. Dont tell me to shut up hahah.

  • @MBGamingLegends
    @MBGamingLegends 14 років тому

    @neonaction how do you think some painters draw the ocean? they can't pause the movement can they? so sometimes they have to take photographs so shut up

  • @Chaostic
    @Chaostic 14 років тому

    @kasrkinmullet I go to Sheridan College (and I know Cal Arts as well as Gobelins) still teach Traditional animation as their fundamental. We spend 4/4 years learning it (it's about 70% of our coarse load). From what we're told, it's because it's going to come back,and come back strong. Also, people are really getting sick of 3D. Long live 2D!

  • @neonaction
    @neonaction 14 років тому

    this is what art and drawing should be. For the record- copying from photograph exactly as it appears on the photograph does not make you an artist.

  • @neonaction
    @neonaction 14 років тому

    notice how he didn't explain the placement of his lines--- top artists like him have an intuitive feeling of design and line placement.
