Riding some of the sm500 trails between Tellico Plains, TN and Robinsville, NC. Nice little camp out. We stayed at Cherohala Mountain Trails Campground and had a great time.

I have never ridden a motorcycle before and I keep seeing this pop up as the "BEST" beginner bike. I also weight maybe more than most people so idk if a 300CC would be a good keep bike. My commute is not on the highway, but I do get on from time to time. Would this still be in the running for a good pick?
Absolutely it should still be in the running. I’m at 250lbs and the 300cc can run 70-75mph with me with no problems. I did later upgrade the suspension but it’s not something you would absolutely have to do. That being said even if you factor suspension cost in these bikes are still at a good price point. This would also be a very easy bike to learn on since you mentioned being a new rider.
I raced my whole life. Is it fast enough.i live in the cascades

Woo! Made the highlights.
Have you ever though about putting road/street wheels and tires on it? (Supermoto)
@@laserbrain7774 no I bought it more for trail use. I do have a friend that did that though. He has two sets of wheels for it to swap back and forth.
Honestly I see that happen at my work when everyone is rushing to leave …till a car struck a guy 😅
@@xierma8586 gotta be quicker than that 😂 🤣
@@AmpdMoto1 yup 😂
Valid
lol
I was exactly looking for the goggles information! Perfect, earned a sub with that one.
Glad it helped! Thanks for checking it out and for the comment and sub!
I put a Tusk rack on for only 80 bucks and it's heavy duty , I then used a 30 buck tail bag that expanded for a year, nexy year a 100 buck rhinowalk bag that holds three gallon jugs and a lot more smaller stuff in it, that doesn't even include the side pockets that hold even more..it's awesome.
Yep that’s a good setup. I typically just run a tank bag and my backpack for work.
@@AmpdMoto1 I have a collapsable back pack in it for carrying more if needed and am eying a nelson rigg tank bag .
If they had just set up their spot they usually won’t pull out. They probably got snacks n shit to eat 😂
Snacks and TikTok videos 😂
Camera man has a death wish
Calculated risk. The ropes were in good condition.
When it's takes 87 octane...not even able to burn premium efficiently
It actually calls for 91 or higher in the manual. Doesn’t make much difference though.
That engine is designed for E87. Why are you burning money on premium?
87 has more ethanal and thsts bad for the motor so 91 gas has more octane which means less ethenal resulting in better bike care
@Ridenwreckin that's not how that works it completely depends on the engine most unless stated in the manual that it can take it higher octane will destroy the engine
@brentbennett5401 low octane puts a greasy film in the engine and builds up on the piston
The manual calls for 91 or higher actually.
The manual calls for 91 or higher on this bike.
How much distance does one gallon cover?
4 miles😂
I was just topping the tank off but realistically I can do the half hour ride to work on about 1 gallon. That’s mostly interstate doing about 70-75mph.
@ Dark Lens Media How many miles can this bike go before the engine gives up? Or does it require rebuilds like a dirt bike?
It’s not a 2 stroke so doesn’t require rebuilds. I’ve seen people with them at 30k + miles. I think it all comes down to how well you maintain it.
@@AmpdMoto1 Thanks for the speedy reply =)
I never wave or acknowledge bikers on my bike i dont care just do you and mind your own business. They always wave at me and i say to myself "what a fucking dork"
If you don’t care then what makes them a dork? To each their own though. I can respect not being into it.
@@AmpdMoto1 sometimes i throw up gang signs when im feeling happy to atleast acknowledge them but anti social people hate the waving
@@Coral-reef. fair enough. Ride safe 👊
Always brotha don't matter what you ride its common courtesy
Agreed ✌️
Do it regardless of who or if they wave back
Respect that.
I just stop doing it
You got to at least wave back.
Always unless in it looks like a harley. They never wave back so fuck em. Unless it just looks like a harley and they wave. Then we return it all day
I always waved when I rode my Harley but I get what you mean I usually let them wave first.
It depepends! I usually aim to wave first, but ive had people wave before i had the chance
So you’re the initiator nice. ✌️
Always dosent matter what they are riding
💯 respect that. I will wave too regardless of bike type.
I always wave. It's funny when I have my wife riding with me and tell her to wave all the time . We don't get waved back and let me tell you, that is awkward lmao
I’ve noticed people not wave a passengers. It’s weird. I always do.
Both but it's awkward when they don't do it back and the car behind you judges you
💯. Makes you feel like an idiot 😂
It’s funny cause I always think the same thing but in reality the guy behind me probably didn’t even see me wave and def didn’t see whether the other guy did or didn’t. You know?😂 So it’s dumb that we instantly think that shit
@@MulTfrancisthat’s very true they probably never see both sides. Some cars probably think we’re just doing hand signals.
your Version looks more matt than the ones I see online all the time, is it some limited edition or something? It looks way coole I think. The black ones on the photos always looks much more shiny, yours is a bit stealthy.
They have two different ones. Mine is the Matte Black and the more gloss one is called glossy karbon black I think. I definitely prefer the matte finish.

Thanks. You too.
Ferrari was lucky not to come across a 1000cc racing motor
Probably so but for me it was just cool to look at.
If Itchyboots can commute around the world on the 250 the 300 must work!
100% but I will say depending on the type of commute you do it may not be the best tool. I still love it though.
Acura legend 88
Nice. Always liked those. I’ve seen some clean builds.
The Klim Krios Pro is a $800 helmet after taxes. You would expect perfection in all aspects and it's almost there BUT the visor will NOT stay where you place it. Open it up a few notches for extra air, first little dip or bump in the road and SLAM down it comes! I love everything about this helmet except the hinge plates. They are very cheaply made. It makes me wonder if anyone that actually rides tests them?? It is a $800 helmet WT Actual F?!
I’ve heard several people mention that but I don’t have that issue. Been going strong for a few years now for both on and off road use and my visor stays put. That being said I agree it shouldn’t be a problem for a helmet that’s that pricey especially considering it’s using an expensive transition visor as well.
Appreciate your really nice on board review on a very cool bike!😎 Thanks for sharing.👍✌
I appreciate the comment. Thanks for watching.
@@AmpdMoto1 1 year ago today and it still is the the most practical "on road" commuter-tour review of the CRF300RALLY on UA-cam.👍 Tip: Since the stock IRC's are still doin fine, we'll just look forward to an adventure tires swap and/or maybe have spare super moto wheels set-up, just for the "on road" experience in the near future.✌🍻
GREAT VIDEO I USE TO WORK THERE I LOVE IT PLEASE SHOW MORE
Thanks for watching. Glad you liked it. Next time I’m back in that area I’ll have to get some more footage.
Where do you buy that SRC upper guards?
SRC website. They are actually light mounts.
Cant wait for my first ride to try it out
You’ll love it. If nothing else you’ll never be able to go away from carbon fiber once you start.
Surprised...no clear pouch on the top for a map / directions?
They actually do come with one. A very nice one that attaches to the molle panel loops. I’ve just never used them so I didn’t keep them.
If you want to have more top-end, just put in new sprockets which will change the ratio.
Absolutely. I wanted to do this review completely stock. I have since modded the bike a decent bit. Thanks for watching.
Love this build cant wait to upgrade to a new bike ive got an 05 xt225 right now
Thanks for checking it out! I’ve added protaper bars since this video. The XT225 isn’t bad though I actually have one in my garage right now that I’m holding for a friend.
how does it fit compared to a shoei?
Fit feels pretty similar to my old shoei but it’s been years since I wore one so take that for what it’s worth.
Thank you sir! Liked and subbed!
Thank you! I appreciate that.
