How to fix a 'popped key' on a Casio CT-S1 Piano Keyboard
Переглядів 1712 місяці тому
This is a super easy ten minute fix - essentially just showing how unscrewing the keyboard and putting it back together fixes the issue for those (like me) reluctant to simply force the key back into place (I don't know if that works - I didn't try it). If the keyboard wasn't seriously broken already - I didn't want to break it further with a bodged 'fix' attempt and, needing to fix it quickly,...

This is a bit of sampling done on the Koala phone app sampler, my voice mixed and chopped up with some of the supplied 808 sounds, recorded into a number of sequences and played back into a wav file via the fun Koala 'performance' fx. These FX - such as the stutter, filter, chip, pitch and twelve others can alter the sound subtly or completely change the way sequence work. For instance, tapping...
Happiness is never really far away

So I said the words 'Happiness is never really far away' into this app on my phone, cut it into bits, plonked them into three little sequences and played them with Koala's performance fx in 'performance mode'. I also channeled some of the samples through the internal mixer, this time, for per sample fx. The app seems to be designed for 'live performance' ultimately and that's not really my thin...

Nothing other than my voice, my mobile phone, eight quids worth of the thirteen quid Koala sampler app (base sampler - five quid, extensions package including piano roll editor - three quid, mixer and other extensions (which I didn't use on this) - five quid) and a few hours of messing around since I bought the app two days ago....

A Short Film About Yorkshire

A Statement Concerning The Use of Artificial Intelligence in the film ‘A Short Film About Yorkshire’ Made by Me in November 2023 Statement concerning the use of AI in the making of this film: This film was created using the absolute minimum of intelligence. If any artificial intelligence snuck in - it was very sneaky because I didn’t notice? What, you may ask, is the actual figgity figgins goin...

I'm using the Raptor arpeggiator that comes pre-installed in Ardour 8.1 here. It looks to be an extremely sophisticated beast. I'm only using some of its most basic features. The rest is Terrorform and Valley Plateau in a Cardinal plugin with some more of my efforts at controlling it all with Ardour automation...
Teasing chaos

Yet another (and the one I like best yet) of my messing around with The Bifurcator. As with the other iterations of this I'm 'playing it' mostly up opening up the bifurcator paramater and letting the chaos take over for while until the patch is playing in a way that I find pleasing - then closing down the bifurcator parameter reduces the chaos and the patch settles down with some or all of the ...
Not The Gardening (again). There is a world of chaos in this computer too...

I have decided to leave the weeds alone again for a few minutes while I indulge in a world of chaos generators. Well, still and only The Bifurcator, as of yet. However, I feel like I'm developing something of a relationship with this fella - and completely aware of the utter lack of structure and meaning in almost all of the music I create - I have a positive feeling about The Bifurcator and, p...

(Sounds like) out of control feedback.
Thanks for this, I have a slightly different issue, will try to fix myself, I had already replaced the input and output jacks on mine, seems like the quality is not that great. But I still love this board, perfect for gigging
You're welcome!
Love those sitar sounding bendy notes
Satisfying and quite 'funky'! Will need repeated hearing on good headphones to catch all the nuances you mention.
Ah, God's county. I lived in Leeds for a few years, great times. I definitely spotted a flat cap! What software did you use for the video? I quite like that effect. Sounds very organic for something made with virtual synth software.
Blender! I don't know about any flat caps, lad. There are things that are supposed to be in there that I can't find...
@@BenAldhouse yeah it's difficult to recognise anything really. The flat cap reference was a bit of a joke. Just a complete regional stereotype 😉
@@VirtualModular Oh no! I just remembered I saw a very bad man make a joke about the whippet stereotype in a recent BBC docu-drama... Kinda wish I hadn't gone there now. Hopefully I can be forgiven. A big thing about this film for me was the transformation of experience and memories into hopes and pleasant experiences of imagination.
@@BenAldhouse that makes sense. "No whippets were harmed in the making of this film". 😉
Thanks Geoff!
Lovely mixture of different tones like all the colours at this time of year!
Wow, this is really cool. Is the bifurcator controlling the pitch of the melodic oscillator? And the Polygene is sequencing the drums? There's plenty going on here that I'm not following.
Thanks. I think the answer is yes to both of your questions. If you would like to check it out I have shared it on my dropbox... www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/fa6l6hlxr4k8iq3bnb7o6/macrobiffs-0037.vcv?rlkey=ucxl7rtlr7kogw75tj29gb41q&dl=0

It's Ben bifurcating it up obviously
Promo sm 🙃
nice
Thank you!
Space like! 😁
I thought the bass sounded good in my headphones but it's completely inaudible at low volume on my laptop speakers...
Love this one.❤
❤
I'm listening to this on headphones just now. I think it sounds better on headphones.
Well done! ❤️
there is a new sheriff in town
Thank you; this looks like VCV or something similar, and it's by far the most musical thing I've heard come out of a virtual eurorack (so far; I'm still just snooping around). Are you patching some kind of sophisticated synth keyboard into this or are you making these sounds from scratch?
I dig this.
This is fairly close to the tutorial by Omri Cohen I was following. I think I managed not to get over-excited and mess it up too much.... About the only difference is I have added extra wobble on each of Rainbow's channels using the Octasource on the panning (via the mixer) and their individual resonance attenuators. Then, after this stage, Omri goes on to do a load more exciting stuff with Rainbow that I haven't quite got to grips with yet... ua-cam.com/video/xpzcu0ELzGg/v-deo.html
Put your headphones on. It won't make it sound better but it's kinder to pets that way.
Very church organ-like visuals
I think the patch leads aren't too bad as cobwebs
Cardinal also comes with a standalone, but it's not as flexible as the plugin versions.
Thanks. I have tried it now. I think it has been updated since you posted this, too.
