The sunstone has a hardness of 6.5-7.5. Fairly hard stone actually. And that line is called a cleavage plane. The naturally fracture on those planes. ✌️ Nice gemstones.

Yes, I am a regular at the fee dig, maybe 1-2 Saturdays a month over the past few years. Found this one a few days ago on 4/23/22. Could only see the small neptunites around the edges and the large broken one coming out of the top of the natrolite layer. Everything else was hidden. Been working at my etching skills and have several other nice thumbnails, but this is maybe my most impressive finished piece yet. I finished it with a lye bath for the first time and will continue to do that with all of my specimens. Really made the crystals shine. Measures approximately 3.5 cm × 5 cm.

You dig it out and clean it??

Beautiful specimen, I visited the mine on March 12 and found a piece that I need to acid etch to see what I have can you provise some instructions? Thanks
