We papered our bathroom with a thick vinyl texture. The problem we think was the texture ran horizontally so the seams lifted.pretty much everywhere. SO WE ARE STRIPING and REDOING with a different vertical texture paper. UGH. We have a new paste the wall wallpaper. What is the best way to prepare the wall. So we don’t get this lifting again. And how long do you recommend not showering in there to let the glue dry adequately? We’ve had lots of papers before and this had never happened so we are problem solving.

Does this same method work on paste wall wallpaper?

Soapy water mix in a spray bottle will assist you in “slipping “ the decal behind the toilet and or pipes. It’s how professionals set decals. Same for paper with adhesive on it.

I used commercial wall paper and after it died some of the edges curled. As you know the paper is vinyl how can I get it to lay down? Thank you for sharing this video! 😊

Good video. Had this problem with a mural.....did what you did and then I used painter's tape to hold down seam and left it for 1 week. Peeled off the paint and seam is perfect.

I’ve heard peel & stick is not very forgiving so I’m not going there for my first time. How do you measure what you will need? The wider the paper the better I’m guessing. I find the really long huge metal ruler WITH CORK BACKING, to be far superb to the short tools like you are using for this kind of cut only. Because a STRAIGHT long fresh crisp line cut looks so much better than a hand drawn one. No matter how skilled I am, this tool reallllly does the job. The cork backing is essential though. Otherwise yes, any straight edge tool will slip too easily.

I’m having a nightmare this is happening to me but even worse is that the sides have shrunk so I’ve got a tiny gap in between 😢 I was wondering about putting a layer of watered down pva over it ? 🤷‍♀️ it’s peel and stick

I've been hanging wallpaer for 50 years, and as a 4th generation paper hanger I have never found the need to color the edges and never have a white line at the seam. It would take longer to color the edges on each side of every piece than it takes to hang the mural she has shown. Although its true Paper can shrink on the wall this is not necessarily the best solution and you cant double cut the edge of a mural.

You shouldnt push really hard, youre cutting into the drywall causing the paper to recess a bit, you will see the seam at angles on certain colours especially. You need adequate pressure to do your best to only cut the two paper. The cut does not need to be perfectly straight either, if youre using a straight edge I suggest using something much longer like a 6ft level for example. That's just my advice it's not written in stone or anything. I think your work looks great there. 🤘

Hello, Adrienne. I have a question: I have old wall paper I want to get rid of. So is it better to repair the old wall paper seams like you showed, and then put the new wall paper on top, or to just rip off all old paper and put the new ones on the uncovered wall? thanks.
