Peter Yates Big 3
Peter Yates is an interesting director, he made a number of decent films but is often never talked about or forgot when it comes to conversation around British film directors. In this video I go into detail on some of Peter Yates career and three of his films that are heavily related to each other.

This is part 2 of the insane production behind Lawrence of Arabia. Part 2 focuses on the jaw-dropping locations, the huge amount of extras used on the film, the weapons and equipment used on the film and some of the issues the production ran into while filming in some of the most inhospitable places. If you haven't seen part 1 I reccomend watching that first as it helps give context to how the ...

The Insane Production Behind Waterloo
God, what passion and hard work David Lean and his team put into 'Lawrence of Arabia', no wonder even after 65 yrs of its release, 'Lawrence of Arabia' stays as one of the greatest films ever made, as it keeps inspiring young filmmakers and audiences across the world!
Arguably the greatest movie ever made.
There is a huge difference of look between crap cgi and the way this man did these movies.....absolutely beautiful
This video deserves much more attentions, such a well inquired and considerately examined essay. I thought it was going to make numbers when I watched it two weeks ago and can't believe it hasn't even made up to 1000 views yet... Really hope it blows up! Also, I gotta watch Robbery soon enough, I always thought both Bullitt and The Friends of Eddie Coyle are amazing films but never bothered to check out their prototype. I really should check that out asap.
Appreciate your huge and enormous effort in making this video. By far the most complete, detailed and coherent material about the film on this platform... Hope you get more viewers soon!!
I live in the Anthracite coal region of Pennsylvania, where the Molly Maguires were from. I also had a 3rd grade field trip to Eckley miners village, where the movie from filmed. Coal mining is what this area was built on.
Both part 1 and 2 are my favorite movie reviews/coverage EVER I love what you have done and thank you for your work.
I first saw Lawrence Of Arabia on the big screen in its premiere year when I was 18. It's still one of the driving inspirations of my life 60 years later.
Void my man. Love your works, thank you for introducing me to a director I have never heard about but you gotta make a more enticing video title like your Insane Production series. I slept on this video for almost 2 weeks before I realized it is yours!
Holly wood can probably do the same thing if they don’t pay millions of dollars for a couple of obsolete actors. They should just find random folks who fit the role, and use most of the budget on thousands of extras. They have the money to do this.
Look at how many shows and movies that have a absurd budget and are still ass.
Watched the film in Cardiff two parter... thrilled at the realistic scenes...noce to know how many classic films are on UA-cam
Watched the film while on holiday in Jersey...Fantastic film....
Ba'les?
The best money can buy
This is an incredible review of how the movie was made. Thank you!
Great stuff!
Great video and Great info, need to check some of these out
Thank you, I highly recommend checking out Bullitt first.
@VoidVolken Bullet I saw years ago but been meaning to check it out again, the other two I had never heard of and sound right up my street!
A labour of love, congratulations. Interesting history, well presented.
Hey i didn't watch the movie, is it a sequel of the series?
No its a retelling of the series.
How does this video not have more views, it's a genuinely really good video about Eva's dub history. I even had to rewatch it after getting my collector's edition DVD due to Kawaru's voice not quite lining up with how I remember it from a video I saw of the OG dub. This really deserves a lot more views than it has.
Thank you, the main reason it doesn't have many views is because after the first two days of it being out, Studio Khara decided to put 5 different copyright claims on the video, with each one blocking the video worldwide. I had to spend two months fighting the claims and eventually got them all cleared but by that time it had been effectively killed in the algorithm. The other reason is, it's a rather niche topic that not many people are interested in.
Adjusted for inflation Lawrence of Arabia cost $146 million in todays money. It looks like it could have been filmed yesterday the picture quality is so amazing!
Thank you for a great introduction to this amazing film.
Considering that most modern Hollywood tentpoles cost $300 million, $1 billion for an 8-hour epic film is perfectly reasonable. It's basically four movies in one. And every penny of that is on-screen in the most spectacular way possible. Meanwhile, comic book movies cost the same and are mostly unwatchable CGI sludge.
its actually 5 hours... with the deleted scenes that are with it
Though it may have failed at the box office, it has become a classic. Movies like this will never be made again.
Great work!
Stalin tried to resign 4 times and the party wouldn't let him! The CIA even admitted that he wasn't a dictator! Your characterization of him doesn't track, though party influence over film making was heavy. www.cia.gov/readingroom/docs/CIA-RDP80-00810A006000360009-0.pdf
Like the music by roy budd
A really good overview of the different dubs, thanks for making this!
I love how people who couldn’t make a 2 minute vid on their phone of their cat chasing his tail opine about this incredible achievement.😂😂😂
Cinematographer Petritsky just died last month in Moscow. He was 92.
The actor who played Bagration, Giuli Chokhonelidze, was Georgian like Bagration himself.
I thought it was a long film til I watched all 3 LOTR films-extended editions-in a row!
I’m watching it again now, saw it in the theater in 1969 over 2 nights.
One small point I liked about the movie is how in the wilderness you can see how the Captain's beard grew over time and then he shaved it off when he went back home. Edit: I've watched your War and Peace video before but couldn't remember your channel. Glad I watched Dersu Uzala today so I can finally sub :)
Okay, I strongly disagree with Stalin being so hursh. It's just a lie. He helped so many directors and writers to actually create and experiment. 🙄 And ussr was easily critizised when Stalin was in charge, just look at only Bulgakov who wasnt any close to be communist. EVEN MAYAKOVSKI WAS CRITIZISING OPENLY GOVERNMENT!
What an insightful and heavily researched video. Kudos! This channel deserves to reach the heights of success.🌸
I liked the film but I still think the show was better and I'm a dude.
excellent, I think Performance would be a good subject for one of your insane production videos
How odd that many Arab countries didn't like the portrayal of the Arabs in Lawrence. I saw the film on it's first release while I was still at school, and I have seen it many, many times since; its portrayals of the Arabs sparked a life-long passion for research into the area, its history, customs, people and the history of its religion, my respect for all of which continues to this day.
Not a bad film. The British red tunics didn't look right. Material too thin.
21:40 "Every time when they shooting a Robin Hood movie, they burn our village!"(c) Robin Hood, Man in thighs 😅
When you make a film for the people, you get Bondarchuk's W&P. When you make a film for the Box, you get Star Wars new canon.
Or the execrable Rings of Power that trashes Tolkien.
It's without a doubt one of the best films ever made. The casting and portrayals are superb. Sergei Bondrachuk directed a masterpiece. The battle scenes are spectacular. cheers
70K MEN DID NOT DIE ON THE DAY OF BORODINO ITS 2024 HOW DO PEOPLE STILL NOT KNOW THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN CASAULTIES AND DEATHS!
Thanks for sharing this. Ever since I was a little boy the elders among my close family group had fed me with stories of the great Hollywood Classics. Lawrence of Arabia figured heavily in it. I first saw it when I was 16 and was completely blown by it. Since then I have often gone back to it. I saw it again very recently and found this video. I just wanted to point out that Mr. I S Johar was not a Pakistani actor. Although like many actors of his time who made a name for themselves in Bombay in the Hindi film Industry, he was born in what later came to be known as Pakistan after India's partition. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I._S._Johar - I hope I am not being rude. In all probability this little piece of information might not even matter. Great effort I have to say. Enjoying thoroughly.
Thank you for this comment and don't worry you are certainly not being rude by pointing that out, especially with how nicely you have worded it. Many other commenters have already pointed it out and apart from you, no one else has actually elaborated on why he is actually an Indian and not a Pakistani. The reason I said he was Pakistani, is because of his birthplace. Sadly there is very little information in English on him and I just had to go off of his birthplace which is in modern day Pakistan and I naturally assumed he was Pakistani.
@@VoidVolken Thanks. I saw the second part of the video as well. I just can't imagine what the entire cast and crew had to go through to create this gem. There was every possibility for it to fail and yet it didn't. It gives me goosebumps to think about the struggle they had to endure.
Great video, love from Russia❤
Is Johar was an Indian actor not Pakistani
Bondarchuk was such a method actor that he was clinically dead (possibly twice) during production which inspired him to create the scene for "afterlife" of fallen soldiers.
