I’m locked out of my account on fishbrain buddy good , too see you doing well tight lines
Thanks for reaching out! Feel free to email me at dockspideroutdoors@gmail.com or on my Instagram which is linked here on the channel.
Am bk on Fishbrain now.
May I ask what body of water?
They're all from different spots. Some are from the Ottawa itself, others are from the Petawawa and Madawaska rivers. If you're wondering about specific fish feel free to send me an email at dockspideroutdoors@gmail.com or message me on Instagram.
I love the time and care you take to protect the fish. Great video. 👍
Appreciate you saying so, it's something I definitely hope to do with every catch.
Great video
Much appreciated, thanks for watching!
I notice a lot of water gets in while you paddle or am I seeing things
It does let in some water, but that's because I always run it with all the scuppers open. I'd rather take in a bit that always drains than have to empty it in the eventuality it gets swamped/flipped/or pours a ton of rain while I'm out.
What kayak is that ?
It's the Riot Mako 12..
Bro shoulda just left it alone 😂
Yeah, after number 4 he should've known it wasn't meant to be 😆
For all the viewers. temps will be in the high 50s low 60s in deep water, look for water close to 66 degrees in less then 5FOW if its just warming up. Pike wont be there for long after May 25th unless you have more cold weather in May. youll have a 10 day window for pike in the right spots before the first heatwave in June.
I have managed to get a few more in the size range into July now in 5ft and under but only at sunset on topwater as they move up shallow.
did you launch at Lac De Chats.
I did, from the Braeside launch.
@@dockspideroutdoors, I see, I've fished it for a few days in summer, I am from the Cobden/Eganville area, grew up in the valley, I don't suppose there is much Pike action from mid June to early August, it seems like the bite there is difficult. have you been successful for pike in those spots consistently,?
Yes, I have although it is usually when I'm chasing musky. Come deep summer it tends to be smaller pike. I have much better luck on bigger pike further up towards Mattawa when it is warmer.
I agree, nothing below the Dam at Kipawa is good for pike really, the numbers are ok but they get to much heat stress south of there, July should just be about musky and bass, maybe a little walleyes pre and post front conditions
There are a few minor similarities between the middle Ottawa and parts of the northern Great lakes, but it's a warm water fisheries
Thank you for sharing an excellent day of fishing on the mighty Ottawa. There is nothing like catching a big pike from a kayak, unless it's a musky And thank you for going barbless. Nice turtle release.
Glad you enjoyed it
1:44 is so great. Pull.. pause… pull pull pull SMASH! The hit after that too. Stained water makes for some cool ambushes. Nice video!
It really does, heart attack material at times.
Good gear selection and video. Thanks!
Thanks for watching. Best of luck this season!
You hit the clearance bins.
I wish I had. Sadly most of these are never really on sale and if so not by much.
@Dock Spider Outdoors don't know where your at. But those lures are high production chain store lures. Fleetfarm, and scheels variations. Think those are expensive, check out real musky lures.
I'm in Canada so add 30% for the difference in the dollar, taxes, duty and shipping to any price you'd pay in the US. I am aware of the boutique baits, but expensive is relative. I could go out and drop $500 on a Hose bait, or hunt down a Barfighter but they are more like fancy guitars. The craftsmanship is nice but the fish tends not to care.
@Dock Spider Outdoors well...I first have to apologize. I feel sorry for you. The stuff we have available in the states is a totally different story than in Canada. But there are good bait makers there as well.
Yeah, a lot of the mass market stuff isn't mass here. We do have some wonderful bait makers, especially local to me but it's still touching $50 for a small batch bucktail and $75 and up for any body bait. I will splurge on occasion but to fill out the box under $50 is much more practical. Plus I'm sure most other anglers think even that is an insane price for one lure aside from the JDM bass nuts.
My favorite, I think, is the purple/silver assault eel (great match for Ottawa cats). Cool blade on the downsized panther martin, great colors on the new salmos, and paint jobs on the mamba/guppie look awesome. Looking forward to seeing a slug-o in action, and not getting struck by lightning this year too. Sweet haul, thanks for sharing!
Thanks Ted, I am really looking forward to not getting hit by lightning too! I think the slug-gos will fish similar to the Keitechs, just bigger and a bit more streamlined with a more glide baitish action.
Good call on the saltwater hooks. I'm going to cut mine too.
lets goo
It's coming!

That Royal Orba has truck nuts on it. 😂
Now that I look...yeah it does 🤣
What type of support for fishfinder you have? It was necessary to make any hole or is RIM connected ?
Hi, I use the Yak Attack cell block to hold the battery, the transducer is mounted on a Yak Attack switchblade arm which is attached to the top of the cell block. My display is on a Yak Attack mount that can also go on the top of the cell block however I usually have the display just forward of the cell block. This whole system is mounted in the supplied gear track so I did not have to do any drilling and all of it can be taken off easily for winter storage or transport.
@dockspideroutdoors2364 thx bro for all info, appreciate Regards from Romania
Any time. If you have any other questions feel free to ask. Thanks for watching.
Greatly enjoyed following along.
Glad you enjoyed it dad!
So the link to the box?
Hi, sorry for the slow response. It can be found here www.falvaicreative.com/s/order?shipping=true&item=13
Nice that it's useful stuff, not just giftwear.
I love fishing nostalgia, even have a small collection of vintage plugs dating to my grandpa's day, so I love the box decorated with the old classics.
Looking through grandpa's lures is exactly why I recognize most of these.
Cool idea. I'd be happy to get it as a gift.
I'm excited to see what the next 20 some days have!
It probably broke because you are tying your rope (ridiculously heavy overkill) thru your level wind to your handle (for some strange reason) and it's pulling crooked on the level wind. That's exactly why your screw came out and was lost. Are you fishing for whales? 30-50 lb line is more than enuff for any species salt or fresh. That line would be too thick on a penn international 80tw
The line is only looped around to hold it in place, there is zero tension on the level wind screw. Where did you get the idea that it came out or got lost? As for the line, it's just standard musky line. Most guys run anywhere from 65 to 100lb depending on the presentation. We know you can use lighter line but the point is to get the fish to the boat and released as fast as possible. Nobody is playing out a musky otherwise you run a much higher chance of killing it. Obviously you can land anything on any line if you play it right and you don't care about a quick release.
Now that’s a caster! You catch big fish you need a big gear! That’s a beaut!
Loving it so far, smooth as butter. I still need to see how it handles a really big fish but hopefully that is coming soon.
FIRST
Oh, sad. Bad hookset, good video.
I mean it would have been a great hookset, had the lure still been in its mouth.
Hows it going Jimmy
Nice catch and some great footage 👌
Thanks! Glad I happened to be looking in the right direction when it went down.
Right at the boat!! Awesome!!
Yeah it scared the hell out of me at first. Was hoping it was a musky but will never be bummed out to catch pike!
Brookies are one of our most pretty fish but I have a soft spot for sunfish. The northern sunfish is by far the most colourful fish I've caught in Ontario. But that is only looks, I love all the different species. Cheers
Yeah, pumpkinseeds are definitely up there. I think coming from northern Ontario I have some built in brookie bias.
Thanks for the tip Need a video on how to swap out that cable rudder. I would buy this kayak but without knowing how to fix the rudder issue no way.
I will try to get one together this week.
So this here is likely the best run down on the fix. Much better than the one I tried ua-cam.com/video/z6k6ghXrlow/v-deo.html
Awesome review cuz love the content. hope you have a great summer on the water. Love and miss you
Thanks! Really looking forward to it. Pushing to get myself up there to see you guys as soon as I'm able to.
Sweet setup. Sucks you had to use bicycle cable to fix the rudder. When you buy a kayak like this you want things to work from new.
You do, but at the same time for it's price you do know some things would be not quite up to par with some more expensive boats. I wish it were a less critical piece though.
@@dockspideroutdoors do you have a picture of the housing and how you attached it to the steering mechanism for the rudder?
Sweet! I havent been lucky enough to get a muskie in the yak yet but itll happen!
Gotta warn you, it is highly addictive!
Nice footage , love the Muskie
Glad you enjoyed it Craig. Hoping to add a lot more this year.
Love the channel, glad I saw the link in your Instagram bio
Appreciate it!
Useful and practical demo, with added doggie entertainment. Thumbs up!
Came over from Instagram! Can’t wait to see more
Great video man! Thanks for the info!! 👍(Stompin Dirt)
No Muskies in Sacramento =( One of the fish I'd like to catch some day.
It's definitely a rush but also it can be a real grind to get one. Though that does make it even more special when it happens.
@@dockspideroutdoors agreed. It's the adventure more than the catching =)
Subbed and liked!
That’s awesome man!! Great info for sure.
Some big lures for some big Muskie or pike 🎣
Okay, big bait big fish. Looking good!!
That is definitely the hope, we'll see on the reality lol
Man great video! Solid fish for sure!!👍👍(Stompin Dirt)!!
