Riding JD Gator around farm checking for downed trees
We took a break today and took a ride around the farms. This year we've had several storms and lots of rain. Occasionally we will go around and see what is down so we can try and get it out so it doesn't go to waste. It's getting close to deer season @LumberLineFarmingCountry

I was a heavy equipment mechanic for 45 years and on the road for 25. I loved it.
You have to love it because it is such hard work but I know it's rewarding to keep people like us up and going! We really do appreciate our mechanics!
I worked most of my 48 years as a mechanic doing field work. I loved it. When people asked me what I did for a living I always told them that I kept the wheels of industry turning.
Amen to that! We appreciate folks like you!
they certainly earn their money nothing is easy with plant
And there jobs take them to the middle of the woods, in hot boiling sun or the side of a road, but they never complain! We couldn't do what we do without them!
I'm glad things are looking up for you and you Cook's mill!
Thank you much! We live and learn 😊
Why are running chains in that terrain , draggin small drag ?
Cause we are in rocky, hilly ground.
Nice loader👍
Thank you!!

Yeah 👍 you have gotten better at sawing with that cooks they make the best for the small operations if I was trying to make a lot of money and saw a lot of board foot I would invest in a Baker it's been used in big mills for years and it will saw a lot faster but they are a lot of money the one I would love to own has big band blade it makes the ones that we use look like rubber bands I remember that I worked in a mill when I was younger that had one and it would take a few hours just to sharpen one of them and we changed them out at the end of every shift that mill had a circle saw working on the far side of the band mill and were definitely going through a lot of logs we would take logs in 24 ,7 and we still had to wait on logs sometimes now the government won't let them run like we did back then there where a lot of loggers in North West Florida and south Alabama and Georgia and lots of jobs and they paid better than what they pay now I was clearing 3000 are better with my own truck and two Pitts but good job and have a great day and God Bless Y'all 🙏🙏👍

Thank you for sharing your stories with us! We love hearing from you and hearing about the way things used to be. You are right about the Baker mills. They are costly but you can make the production. The logging industry has really changed over the years around here as well. A lot of the small businesses have went out since 2020 so we are very thankful for our health and ability to keep going. We appreciate your encouraging words. Thank you and God Bless!
I'm sorry to hear about your issues with the AC36. Mine was the first Perkins Tier 4 Final engine sent out with the computer control for the engine. It has been completely trouble free. Any other minor issues I ran across were completely and quickly addressed by Cook's personnel. My hydraulics have no serious leaks and the support legs do not move. Mine will actually saw down to 3/4", but I only go to 1". I purchased my mill in January 2019 and picked it up in May 2019. I see many WoodMizers on UA-cam and online forums and there's not one made that I would trade even for.
Hello. We are very happy you’ve had such a good sawmill. Like we said when it’s up and running you can’t beat it. We have a little over 100 hundred hours now. Today it was really running good and producing good out the lumber but it went down on us. Going to call Cooks. Thank you much for taking time to leave a comment. Take care and happy sawing
Walnut is a very beautiful wood GTC
I agree!! Thank you for taking time to leave a comment! 🪵
A pig?! I thought it was a turkey🤪
I tell her all the time she needs to watch what she eats, she does too. Right before it goes down the hatch 🥰
It looks like your final drive left the chat. That's going to be fun and very expensive to fix been there done that. looks like you're doing some pretty good work there . ✌️❤️🍺
I apologize if this is a repeat comment due to our internet being wonky! Thank you for your kind words! It's being rebuilt now so we are hoping we will get this fixed without having to replace the entire drive...we found an excellent mechanic to help us out too!
Looks like about $25K in parts to me, and thats not Including labor. 😮
I apologize if this is a repeat comment. Internet has been terrible. But thankfully all of the gears were not demolished so hopefully, we scrapped by with a bad break but could have been much worse! Now maybe the other side is still sound. Fingers crossed!
Beautiful! As Charlie Daniels said in his song "In America" "We're gonna put her feet back on the path of righteousness and then God Bless America Again!" And speaking of songs, this is a good time to listen to Johnny Cash's "Ragged Old Flag." As you said, we need to pray hard every day for our country, that we turn back to God and elect leaders that won't get in our way of doing so. HAPPY 4TH!☺
Happy Independence Day!
God Bless America and God Bless Y'all 😊🎉
It’s worth saving 🎉🎉 thank you and be safe!
Awesome
👍 Thank you! Have a great 4th of July!
We have the same problem with ours. It really slows down production sometimes. If we have a good flat cut it’s helps a lot. But thinking of adding the pieces of on the bottom like you did
I'm thinking about welding a piece of flat bar across the bottom of mine to keep them even. Let me know how your changes turn out. If I update these again, I'll post it. Hope it turns out good for you!
Logging equipment has come along way I have done that same thing that you are doing with a old bomb a deer and it took a while longer to do back then but we got er done God Bless Y'all and have a great day 🙏
I can't even imagine how demanding logging used to be. But it sounds like you must still like it. Thank you much for the comments and God Bless!!
We have the same mill. It’s been a really good piece of equipment for us. Might wanna tighten up that hydro belt a some.Congratulations on your mill Happy sawing 👍🏻
Thank you! All information is helpful. Appreciate it
@@LumberLineFarmingCountry Yes it is. We’ve needed help before also and usually someone has already had it happen
Did you have issues with the fittings leaking hydraulic fluid? We like the mill and it runs strong and hard now that we are getting the kinks worked out.
Do you run the mill full time?
Hello, actually our "day job" is logging & the saw mill is for when weather doesn't permit us to be in the woods. We have really fought the rain this year until recently.
@@LumberLineFarmingCountry cool deal!
I have read that pioneers found yellow poplars as tall as 190ft tall and 10ft in diameter in Ky and other parts of our nation when they were looking for places to settle. I've seen some boards in very old houses that were probably between 3-4 ft wide. Amazing! And imagine how long it took them to cut one down by hand and then turn it into useable lumber?!
I can't imagine what the country side would have been like to see the massive timber growing here. The work must have been hard but so rewarding!
We've seen old seasoned yellow poplar boards in late 1800's and early 1900's houses, that are still in great shape since they were protected being under roof, that are beautiful b oards
I wouldn't care to have a house made of them! How about you?
The live swivels leaking must be bad fittings, we use them on a bunch of equipment and don't see failures until 1000's of hours.
These must be junk because they will literally run a solid stream of fluid under any pressure, while idling, constant drip. With less than 100 hours.
Miss you, love your videos
Miss you! It allows me to capture the circus I live in amongst :)
Awwww
We have new babies to watch this week
I need a mushroom lesson😂
Come down anytime in early April and we will see what we can do! But we have to be quiet...is that possible? lol
❤❤❤❤
I AGREE...Sweet little things
I have some of those flowers blooming now GTC
We absolutely love watching them. It's the simple things in life that we enjoy the most.
Did you buy the mill new I have not had problems with my mill but cooks will tell you anything you have a ❓ on I have a mill that has a lot of cooks parts on it and any time I had a question they where very helpful to me if bought it from cooks they will help you with it for sure you have not seen problems I have had two different wood mizers and they were definitely a lot of trouble and I worked on them more than I sawed with them but they sale a lot of mills if I was younger I would have gotten cooks to build me one like I want but what I have is a little bit like that Johnny Cash Cadillac made from a few different mills but it saws good but it is a manual one there's no bells and whistles 😂 But good luck with it And God Bless Y'all stay safe
We are starting to get the kinks worked out but we really didn't expect to have to work this long on the kinks with the money you pay for these mills. BTW, we love the song you are referring too also!! Thanks for watching and God Bless you too!!
Thank you for your honest review of our sawmill. We are happy to hear that you were able to find a used sawmill for sale. Every operator comes across a learning curve they have to get past on an unfamiliar machine, and we are glad that you were able to modify it to work even better for you. We have been in business providing great service making quality products for near 55 years. Our goal is to always be innovative and continue improving. If we can help you solve any problems even if it is on a competitors mill we want to do that. We want to help our customers as best we can.
Thanks for the comment but the mill only had 5 hours on it when we purchased.
Oh my 😂😂😂😂
Hey there! If the rooster would just stop running, right!
Turkey, the other white meat!
First comment of hopefully many
Thank you! They seemed very happy wit it and that's what it's all about!
Hello, glad everything worked out for you. When your mill head is all the way back towards the hitch look up to the right hand corner. You will see two flow control valves that are factory set. In the middle of the two valves is a valve block controlled by a 12v coil. That coil controls the bypass and speed of the up and down of the head. The top needle valve controls fast, the bottom controls slow. You might have a bad coil or a wiring problem. You can disconnect the wiring harness and check the coil resistance and the harness for 12v. This is where you need to start. Good luck and happy milling
Appreciate your time and all your advice! We will check it out and let you know.
Use the cedar dust for walk ways in the garden. All the it messes with oh is fake and I have soil test to prove my ph is a perfect 7. I am cutting my cedar to 8 by 8s and leaving a live edge for the outside. Hand planning the inside wall face. Will stack them up this fall they been drying a year
We never thought about using for walkways but that is a great use. I used in hen house and dogs pens/beds so we never have much left over. Can't beat cedar! Thank you for watching!!
Hi again, Check your downward blade adjustment, it should be 1/4” downward pressure. The roller guides push the blade down 1/4”, the blade should not be in the same plane as your band wheels. If your roller guides aren’t in the proper position you won’t be able to cut a 1” board. Good luck
Hello. My husband said he checked the down pressure and it's more than 1/4" and the manual had gotten wet so it's been useless for reference but learning as we go. Thank you again for taking time to help us out!
Hello, it looks like your jacks are missing the pins. My cooks mill came with pins, there are holes drilled into the jack and square tube. I see the holes in your video. The pins can hold the jack in the up position for transport or down for milling. The other owner may not have given them to you. Section 2 of the manual shows a photo of them….. good luck
We got the pins in it and filmed a video showing them in. Really appreciate it!
Hopefully cook will see this video & fix those issues
We hope so too. They could have a great product if the QC was there. Many hours of reverse engineering later we now have a great machine.
So glad Mernie is better! Silly old sweet girl!
Thank you :) How can a person get so attached to a turkey? I don't know but I am!
Beautiful wood and smells so good GTC
I love it when we saw cedar, you can smell it all around.
Just found your blog and watching the sawing of the cedar lumber GTC
Thank you! Keep on watching, we will have more to saw soon!
It's Definitely A Summer Tanager
