Friendly Giant Beginning and Ending
Watched when I was a child in Detroit. I loved when he said “Look up, way up”.
Showing my teenage daughter in 2024, this is what she sounds like to me.
That’s was a beautiful girl. I wonder how she look now?
Exceptional program...I loved this show..still do. No wonder I appreciated classical music and quiet serene country ❤.thanks Friendly!!...ty for posting.watched it on cklw channel 9 windsor Ontario.
so funnn and so cute i used to watch this all the time
What is the name of this song? Remember hearing this on Bonanza when Lorne Greens wife wad Swedish.died of a gunshot wound batt l e with indians
6 years old in Goose Bay Labrador again. (Goose Air Base) A little different from the USO show that made a stop featuring Bob Hope and Jayne Mansfield 😉
Thank you so much for bringing back such great memories, I’m afraid these wonderful days are gone forever.
hard to believe that I've grown up to be a jerk after watching this gentle man in my youth. Sorry Bob
A wonderful memory and a great escape from a toxic and volatile home life in the 60's and 70's. I still get goosebumps when I see the cow jumping over the moon. I'm in my 60's now. I never missed it.
This is so niche that no one is gonna get this, but I'm here from Last Stand Media's recent Constellations episode where Ramon talked about how Vanessa's fast-talking friend is his aunt!
Elizabeth Narvaez? Really? How is she? 😊
May I use this clip for a video I am doing on Bob Homme?
Of course. This video is not mine to keep
❤ the first tv show i ever saw and will always remember and love
When CBC stood for Canadienne Bien Caricatures instead of Communist Bolshevist Comrades ..
This was incredible....brought back so many good memories.....thank you
Here because of Ramon
Sameee
I didn't realize that the Friendly Giant Bob Homme was from Wisconsin and this show was originally aired in Wisconsin for four years before it was moved over to the CBC
Loved this show.Remember watching it when I was home sick from school
I grew up in suburban Detroit- Ann Arbor & we were lucky enough to get this Canadian channel 9 on our TV.. my 2 sisters and I loved this darling show! I have a chair by my fireplace that reminds me of Friendly💝💗
Rusty was the best rooster ever
There mouths are moving like their not singing put a donk it
The theme song is: Early One Morning by Hayley Mills and Nancy Olson
OMG! I'm 62 and have vague memories of watching this when I was about 4 years old. Never thought I'd ever know what it was but was certain I use to watch it! Thanks for connecting me to such a long almost forgotten memory
I just visited Friendlys resting place last week. I did, indeed, say goodbye....goodbye. With a tear.
I cannot add anything more to the awesome comments below except that seeing and hearing just tears me up. Great memories from a kid growing up in Calgary during the 60’s and 70’s. We need more people like Bob Homme today more than ever.
A huge piece of my childhood. Not to brag, but I even wrote my own words for his theme song (sort of 😊) Friend friend friend friendly giant. Friend friend friend friendly giant Friend friend friend friend, friend friend friend friend friendly gi-i-annnt
Yup, that sounds about right for a 3 year old. Love it. ☮️
This is my Best Memory Ever Born in 59 This is the kind Children's shows we need today not Frigin Transformers or Ninja Turtle Crap
Amazingly, the show never used a script. They would just pick a general topic before filming each show, and then make up the dialog on the go. That's why the dialog is so natural. The only time thay actually planned anything was when they had extra puppets playing musical instruments, etc.
I wasn't aware of that fact. Thank you
FYI: when Bob Homme died, they had to dig a 40 foot long grave.
Friendly Giant was the best in Childrens programming, never missed it as a child. Another fave was On the River Bank.
My stepdad Bobby Edward's played the guitar for Rusty.
Once upon a time, not long ago and not far away...
“I’m getting a hot comb here.” 😂
I wonder if they knew how impactful this show was for some children. For me, it was an escape from a dangerous, unpredictable home environment. So, when this came on, I was transported to a safe place. I wanted to be siting in those chairs, have the Friendly Giant protect me and keep me safe. It worked (in my head) for that little time, while the show was playing.
Thats a nice memory.
I used to cut school to watch this show.
I didn't just tear up or cry when this theme song came on, I had a full blown melt down! My Mom had to pop up to turn the sound down before I completely withered away. I think I was a sage baby and it struck a chord deep within me. 👍💯🐺🏳🌈😻🍔🌉🍟🍁
My brother and I did, too! We bawled like babies every time we heard the theme song. It was so beautiful. We watched it on UHF 64 out of Vancouver, B.C. In the Seattle Tacoma area.
@@Leapyrbabe We watched it on CBC Canada in Peterborough, ON. My fave episodes were whenever the drums and piano players made a rare appearance. I love percussion so Fiddle {the drums player on the show} was my fave character. Angie was the piano playing character. They both looked real freaky, rather 👽like. 🐺💯🏰🪘🏳🌈🍔🎹🥁🍟🍁 An even rarer cameo appearance, and the best episodes ever of The Flintstones, was whenever The Great Gazoo showed up! 💥🛸👽
I think part of the reason we cried so hard is that, when the drawbridge closed, we had to wait a whole day to go back to his castle. We loved him that much.
Did any episodes take place at night? Just curious is all
a lot of my childhood memories seem like dreams or hallucinations until i discover that others share those same memories. we were the luckiest kids in the world to have been exposed to this wonderful show and others on the cbc network.
good stuff
Ahahahha
My, my, my. This brings back memories watching this as a child in the 60’s in Chicago. This theme literally brings tears to my 61 year old eyes.
Vanessa’s girlfriend is so beautiful when she talks she talks very fast I like her way of thinking she’s very cute❤ ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
It's December of 2022. And suddenly I remember that frequent admonition..."Look up...look up...look wa-a-ay up..." And I'm transported to the bygone decades. Peace be upon Bob Homme and all living or deceased associated with this delightful show.
i was trying to play along with the Friendly Giant end theme on an alto recorder. it starts with the lowest note F. the problem is the second last note of the song would be one step below my lowest note. i wonder how that was accomplished?
This show was broadcast on PBS all the way down in the very tip of southern New Jersey. An episode of Bonanza had a woman singing this song. I knew I remembered it from somewhere and was happy to make the connection.
It's amazing how one simple little cow jumping over the moon could have such a wonderful lasting effect on my life and on many others. The Friendly Giant, a masterpiece in it's simplicity!
I think I was about 4 and being so excited seeing that cow jumping over that moon and telling my mom every time!
...oh, such wonderful memories of such simpler times.... Dang it - someone is slicing onions again....
Wow,right back to being 7 or 8 in pj's in front of the tv.
Omg!! My favourite show of all time.
Vanessa friends are damn fine ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Yep Janet was cute.
