Throttle Cable Retainer Repair

Never good when you go to do a burnout and your pedal goes to the floor with no reaction from the motor. Kind of knew that the stock retainer was going to fail.

Taking A Spin With Cheap AMAZON Totalflow Mufflers
Переглядів 2,9 тис.Рік тому
Had to fuel up for a trip to a car show this weekend, so i figured I'd take whoever happens to watch this, along for the ride. The Totalflow mufflers are an Amazon knockoff off brand of the tried-and-true Flowmasters. They're dual chamber, and sound pretty good to my ears.

Plumbing With AN Fittings On The Edelbrock RPM Air-Gap Intake
Dude, that's a pretty sick shifter mount!!! That's an idea I've been tossing around in my head for a while, nice to actually see it.
Hi water neck bolt inches longer?
Nice truck.
Thanks for sharing. Great buy for a flip or a keeper. Either way
Great sound. Nice
Hello, what is the purpose of putting lines from the thermostat housing to the back of the manifold? What does that do?
It helps reduce the temperature on the rear cylinders.
@@Zachary77does that help with power on the charge I’m confused
@@CarsAndChrist385 "does that help with power on the charge" I'm confused by your question, can you elaborate?
I mean T does it produce any more power
@@CarsAndChrist385 Any time your motor is running cooler it's usually better. However, this is not a HP modification, it's a cooling modification. For example, in the summer I run 165 degree thermostat and in the winter I run a 185 thermostat. That's because a 185 in the summer will cause my motor to get close to overheating.
And i bet it sounds like the song also
WHEEEEEATOOOOOOONNNNNNN!!!!!
FETCH ME WIL WHEATON!!
Awesome work and soundtrack Who's the band
Trick for the 400 Chevrolet engine also.
Seems like that would cause cooling problems. Your bypassing the heads
Slick

looks like SHIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wouldn't it be easier to just talk without music it's distracting. Great Plumbing idea thanks a million
i have one similar but that uses a set screw to lock the cable to the clevice, it came loose once on me once too lol
It startled me when it happened. It was rolling burnout and my first instinct was to hit the kill switch.🤣 I didn’t though, I quickly realized what had happened.
Just gotta laugh at yourself sometimes
What size hose and fitting are you using ?
3/8 pipe tap, #6 fittings and #6 hose (3/8 braided)
Hi, those fitings on the back are 3/8 NPT? I'm running the same intake. Thanks!
I believe they are. It’s been a while since I put this together.
The front has the same threaded holes as the rear so why not eliminate the thermostat spacer and thread right int those two holes. They go to the same water passage. A “T” fitting could be used if you need sending unit on one. Possibly feed one rear line to the other rear to achieve same cross flow as front?
I suppose that could’ve worked, I did use one of those holes for the temperature sending unit. I guess it was just my way of skinning the cat. Lol.
I purchased the parts you recommended , is the 3/8 inch an fitting screw in all the way, I could only get in 1/4 at best?
Pipe fittings are designed to screw in 3 turns, then tighten up. If they bottom out, they are junk.
Hahahaha but if the wife asks, wasn't that much
Sounds great
Sounds damn good
Thanks!
do you have clearance for a spark advance on the distributor?
Yes, plenty.
I had a clearance issue on my buddies intake when i stalling this kit. All we did was move the distributor one tooth over to create adequate clearance.
Where did you get the thermostat housing with the ports for this?
Got it off Amazon. “Meziere WN0028U Polished Water Neck”
Where did you order parts from. Nice job
I ordered most of of the parts from Amazon. I used the Evil Energy brand AN stuff.
😊sounds great 👍 😊
Thanks!
Sounds awesome 😊❤
Nice! Is that the 4.0 motor? Thnx
Vortec 350
Always double wrench fittings when removing or installing.
Awesome! My garage is all VH as well! Love that truck! 🤟
What AN parts did you use from the carb bowls to extend the lines away from the carb? I’m running the same intake setup. I love what you did. Thanks!
Sorry so late on the response. It’s a Demon carb and I picked up AN fittings for the carb from a local speed shop.
Hell yeah ❤
Cuz it looks silley
I just did this after watching the video. Besides the extra cooling it just looks bitchin'. Earl's offers just the AN nuts for the hose ends so I ordered black fittings and red nuts to accent them just like in this video. I'm also adding a screw in water temp gauge where a block off plug would be needed for the port next to the thermostat housing. Nice work Sir. Thanks for the inspiration.
Nice! I Just got done cruising around town for a bit after work and mine never got above 180*. And that’s with late season Florida traffic.
good job .. what camshaft did you use and what CR thanks
Thanks Man! I went with a Lunati Voodoo Pt#20080721. I have the CR figured out to around 10.2(ish):1.
A little fan I see lmao
Pre-Sammy days…..yes. Lol
W O N D E R F U L. ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL 👍👍👍👍⚡⚡⚡⚡🔥🔥🔥🔥
Nice car
Thanks!
🤘🏿
Sick!
Great Vid, I have the same intake. If you can list the Part Numbers for the Fittings or Measuremts that would be great. I hate wasting cash on fittings that don't work. Thanks
I’ll have to look back and see what exactly I ordered. I used the Evil Energy brand found on Amazon. Less expensive but haven’t had any problems with their stuff. Even using it for fuel lines and fittings.
I've been looking for information on this setup for a long while could send me the info on fittings and water neck spacer etc..
Hello again the input to spacer is 3/8 in.? and do I need longer bolts for spout?
That thing is a monster
What's the idea behind doing this? Does it help with hot spots in the rear of the heads or what?
Yeah, I figured any extra help with cooling the Vortec heads can’t hurt.
I used brass fittings from Home Depot and 1/2" neoprene hose. Way cheaper.
Connecting a brass fitting to a aluminum housing will cause electrolysis which leads to deterioration and contamination.
@@Zachary77 BS, the thread sealant will stop any contact.
Nice got one too put on my s10 so hopefully I can time better
Is that a 350? I want to put on in my 93 s10 same color too 😄 i just want it to sound good too haha
It is. Bored .030.
Are the threads for the intake manifold bolts the same as the small block 350 with a regular intake like on the tbi 350? And if so what is the tap size?
This is a Vortec motor with Vortec heads, so the bolt pattern is different. The Vortec intake only has 4 bolts per side. They do sell a 12 bolt Air Gap intake for the SBC.
I just realized you asked if the thread size is the same. I believe they are. Should be 3/8” / 16.
@@thousandpounddoggarage It's okay. Thank you very much for the info!
I can relate, I waste so much time looking for tools I just had a few minutes ago!
Mufflers sound good, curious how you do for traction with your current set up?
Currently, Traction is just a mythical term I hear floating around…..lol. Eventually I’ll be going with Caltracs.
