I have updated the device described above to the 20231202. Ricoel support was ok when answering my questions. Nevertheless, I have noticed that the light sensor works at first, but it fails to work after the device is unplugged for a while and then plugged in again. Resetting to factory defaults restores the functionality. Will test more

Yes, it works. But please make sure it is with display resolution 1024x600. If you bought before Oct.2023, mostly, it is only 800*480 pixel.
