Houdini Mask From Geometry Tip
If you're doing masks over grids in Houdini and you want to use your geometry as an input, the Mask From Geometry is an absolute coffee brake of a node to use. Use height Fields instead!

Export Baked Cameras from Cinema 4D
Переглядів 164День тому
Easily bake out your camera so you can access all of the camera properties in other DCCs, even if you've nested your camera and its controlled through xpresso or other means. Camera Rig comes from @Helloluxx and you can check out the setup here: ua-cam.com/video/v7mBm9UCA34/v-deo.html&ab_channel=helloluxx #cinema4d #quicktip #cameras #c4d #maxonc4d #bakecamera #tutorial
Hack Cinema 4D and Ease your Alembics

Key frames need curves so you can control all the things. Hack your alembic keyframe data with this simple xpresso tip in Cinema 4D to get all the curves you want. #maxon3d #maxonc4d #c4d #cinema4d #quicktip #xpresso #abcfiles #quicktip
Scatter Pieces or Objects in Houdini
Переглядів 5684 місяці тому
Let's scatter some objects in Houdini using Attribute from Pieces and the Scatter and Align SOPs. This tutorial helps you understand how to get all your imported objects scattered onto points using the name attribute in Houdini. Check out @simonhoudini5074 for his more robust tutorial on this method! ua-cam.com/video/N7CDHwgWKVo/v-deo.html #sidefx #houdini #tutorial #sops #instancing
Houdini Custom POP Velocity Fields Breakdown
Переглядів 3,3 тис.5 місяців тому
I was inspired by @MotionPunk recently and worked out a particle simulation in Houdini that reflected his works. Utilizing custom volume velocities and some forces to achieve the effect. Houdini Plant Infection Disintegration Breakdown

I wanted to share my node tree and the process I went through to get to this disintegration effect. Utilizing Vellum, POPs and MOPs I created this effect after winning a Houdini Battle and really wanted to push an idea I had coming out of it. Exactly what I was looking for! Thanks for uploading.
hello! big thanks for such a detailed video i could recreate the effect but i'm struggling to get the concept behind all those vdb nodes you made while creating velocity field isn't it possible to use a bunch of vdb from polygons instead? what's the difference?
Houdini has a ton of ways to re-create the same effect and I got to this with the solutions I used. You can absolutely use a different method if that works for you. =) Thanks for watching!
@@xrossfader yeah, found a few similar tutorials and each of them got different setups for creating velocity fields it makes sense after i compared them thanks for content!
Nice one!! Thanks a lot!
Thank you Mr Lukasz
Cheers!
Very interesting, thank you!
you're welcome!
Hey Lukasz, very helpful-tight and on point. Thanks
@@bhavana01123 you’re welcome!
Super helpful, I run into camera exporting issues constantly! I've never thought of using the Camera Morph as a tool for baking the camera, pretty clever.
Happy to help! Happy Keyframing. ;)
Oh! There's something you should know, the fov between other DCCs and C4D are broken. I've submitted a bug report and they are fixing it but if your FOV is different between DCCs, look at the 'fit' option in the RS Camera and change it to vertical from horizontal.
You can explane how to export camera nulls to after effect?
@@HenMor You can open the scene in AE and any null with a 'cineware' tag on it will import. I would recommend buying the AEC4D Pro plugin on AE Scripts though. Its far better and more accurate than the native tools.
I can’t believe you posted this technique just I was needing it! Awesome! Do you think we can use it for speed also? I have a walk cicle loop and I wan to animate it to bring it to a stop and resume as a characters follow a spline path
@@jooaquin yup!
Been looking for something like this for ever. Many thanks
@@philiprafferty849 cheers! It’s been a pain point for sure. Happy to help
Thank you 👍
@@revocolor welcome!
This is life-changing! I’m a freak for organizing little details like this. Thank you!!
You're welcome!
so many good little tips in here. you even squeaked in a dihedral just to scare me
REALLY tried to pack it in. =) Glad I spook ya!
scene file for the lazy ones (me)
Very cool! I learned a lot for myself, thank you!
You're very welcome! Glad I help. =)
This is gold, thank you. And thanks for a good audio setup 🎉
Much appreciated! I went out and got a good mic just so I could make sure my audio was crisp. Thanks for noticing!
love this!
Thank you!
Thank you for share! Great content 👍💯
You're welcome! Thank you!
attribute interpolate is what I've been missing from my life
It is incredibly powerful!
Super dope! More, please (:
Thanks! I'm going to look at what I've got and get some more breakdowns going. ;)
V nice project and well explained, thanks for sharing the process.
Glad that to hear! You're very welcome. =)
how to live link thenetwork editor to selected material? Right now I have to click open network editor for every single time and im dyijng. Is it live link or something like that?
Are you talking about the network view you see here? I just docked the window into the UI and I should just update with what ever material you select.
Arnold to Redshift?
...Shader network shortcut keys? ;)
this is the best turoiral on this , just addition to use feild and get freeze feild icon after R25 c4ds version u need to go to basic tab and tick on use feild .
Brother you have saved me
I can't get the nice fading effect with this, the part affected by the field is 100% of that color and the part not is 100% the other color, with no fade transition between.
lets blow this up
Classic at this point? ;)
Is your monitor more than 60hz? Your cursor moves very smooth.
It is not. =) I record in 60.

many thanks. It would be cool if Redshift would handle multiple Object IDs to render, so that I have several Alpha Channels in PS then.
It can! Just setup multiple Puzzle mattes and change the IDs to what ever you need them to be. Cryptomattes would be the way to go but I don’t think they work in PS.
As soon as I drag the folder to the bcf2vdb.exe says "Invalid BCF file" in the prompt menu and closes. There is no spaces in the cache folders name, btw.
I’d recommend talking to Jawset, I’ve switched to Houdini and I haven’t used it in ages. Sorry I can’t be any further help!
забыл сказать ты дно
ну просто дурак что еще сказать
when I launch the command it the file "vcredist_x64.exe" (microsoft visual C++ ) present in the folder pupup up and ask me for the installation. unfortunately I have a newer version of it installed yed and application il closed with no conversion :(
I'm so sorry. I haven't used TFD in a long time but I'd be surprised if it didn't work. Best bet would be to post on the Jawset forum for help mate. Good luck!
@@xrossfader Thank you anyway :)
Thank you for posting this video, it helped me on a personal project.
Glad I could help!
That was really awesome, thanks a lot man!
Glad it helps!
@@xrossfader I helped enormously. This completed the puzzle, cuz I thought it is impossible to use TFD's data in Maya or 3DsMax, but thanks to VDB, TFD could be easily added to any pipeline. It was incredibly helpful, thanks again Lukasz! Really awesome. Cheers, Amir
Great Tips! Thanks!
U just showed us so much. I just launched a few dos programs this way! Thanks
Hi, anytime I try putting on my vertex map it doesn’t show me that “use fields” options
You may be in an older version of C4D.
if u r above r25 go to basic tab u ll find it thre
i can't find bcf folder in the installation folder
Buahahhahaha, 2 sec. tutorial and it's working awesome. Others are all over the place +10min of specific road maps.
No sense in complicating things. ;)
This is great but how do we make object mattes with redshift? For some reason we can't just use the compositing tag and hide objects from camera because then we get weird reflections and light spilling into areas that should be cut off by the alpha.
Cool
ZAM thanks!
